in this pendant tutorial we will take some very earthy scrap colors which can of course be changed. We will make some simple jelly roll canes. we will then create a veneer and make some simple pendants enjoy everyone

This is such an extensive tutorial. I have learnt so much. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share it with us for free. I imagine that people who have the nerve to complain about free tutorials have no idea how much work goes into making them, how much knowledge you are sharing from years and years of discovering techniques and how rude they are for complaining. X

Alot of work for sure but only been playing for about a year or a little over just wanted to show people that they can do it to and work through the problems hopefully they dont need to make the mistakes I do.

Katie Gordon WOW Only a year. I love to teach for the same reasons. Not this, J do mixed media but have always fancied trying this. I found it too hard to manipulate the clay from the package. Now I realise there are lots of different types. I literally had put my kit in a charity bag just before I saw your video. I think the pasta machine seems to be the main ingredient.

Sometimes I like to add mica to clay that is too soft. The clay gets stiffer and the color has a subtle metallic sheen.

This was an awesome video, Katie it was very detailed and the patterns you created are beautiful, they looked great, I really appreciated the amount of information you gave, and the tips you shared, this was one of the very best polymer clay tutorials I have seen so far, I have watched a few, but found it a bit daunting for a beginner, but yours was very encouraging for beginners and made me feel I could confidently follow alongside it, I loved what you did and created. Thank you. Laura in uk

Wow Katie. I think you have become my favorite person to watch. I really love the back of the pendants. I love how you just work through, not so planned out, that is definitely more my style, I seem to mess things up if I try to plan. My messes come out much better then my planned out stuff. I'm a more fly by the seat of my pants person. I like listening to your thought process and just going with it to see where it goes. Thanks for sharing. And never apologize for the noise in the back ground, that's just life, it makes your videos that much more enjoyable.

Very cool hippie retro feeling! I know this is an older vid, but I have another experiment for you to try.... If you slice your jelly roll canes as thin as possible, then lay them out overlapping, like you did for the backing with scrap circles, and I would even reduce some smaller because they will stretch, roll them out, then lay them out on a THICK piece of coordinated color backing, or even translucent. Then reduce several sizes, and you will get lots of the overlapping distorted transparent lines! Like you did on the one piece by accident! I thought that was a cool effect! If you try, I'd love to see a vid! Thanks for sharing your creativity!😁❤️

This is the very first thing I’ve attempted! I learned that the package of clay I got was an off brand of different colors which had only 11 g per color 🤪. Anyways the polymer clay was very soft and I had to use cornstarch to get any where! Anyways I ended up with my rounds rolls having nice lines . I just need to know how long and what temp is the usual . This package says 275(130) and bake 30 min for every 1/4 inch. Mine is very thin. Like 1/16 th help. 😩
@katiegordon610
@katiegordon610 3 года назад
Temp depends on the brand of clay but most of us go 60 min even if it says 30 min u can always test bake look at other videos about baking pc and strength they will show u why we bake longer

I am planning to start with polymer clay, so this week I’m gonna buy some. I am searching for tutorials on RU-vid, and you mention to rest the clay before you go further with your project. Forgive me if you’ve mention it already in other video’s, because I don’t have see all of your video’s yet, but why (and for how long) do you need your clay to rest? And when it becomes hard over time, how can you condition it to use it again? Thanks for helping me out. Have a nice day, greetings from the Netherlands

I am talking after making a cane it gets really soft so let it rest for a few hrs so it stops smearing when u cut it in this one I used some sculpy 3 which is why it was smearing better Clay's do not do that as much PC will not really get hard until baked so u just have to get it moving if u want to work w it again. the more u play the more u will see

I watched the guy before Bob Ross (William Alexander) who was short and abrupt, but sooo talented. Then my kids and I watched Bob Ross and his happy clouds as they grew up. We all love the Joy of Painting and considered his show our “family choice” aka a freebie. (Each member of my family got to choose a TV program a week for each “large chore” they took on.). Joy of painting was our favorite, so that I always recorded for them.

There are many varnishes for PC sculpy makes some I tend to use resin so I've only used the sculpy ones and the liquitex matte one. I believe I showed how I drill the hole at the end and put the bail and jump ring on less distortion if u do it at the end but it's all personal preference if I didnt show the drilling and bail part on this pendant one check out the end of another PC pendant tutorial to see how I usually do that
