I've included this video in the Pod Series but the start of the bead is a little different.
This video will show you how to create pod beads with a thread hole running from the top to the bottom of the bead.
Once you understand this process it has so many variations all on its own. See if you can come up with something yourself and feel free to share pics with me if you like.
After the video I've shared inspirational images of these beads - be sure to keep watching.

@9:23 I use 12 gauge allimimium wire to bend into a circle then bake it with the wire you do have to carefully work the wire out but they make nice light weigh hoop ear rings using 20 gauge gold silver or copper wire as the earring post. Great tutorial! I subscribed!

oh thanks so much, that's really sweet. Yes you're right, curing with the wire in place is a great idea. I've done that before but had to leave the wire in as the majority of the coils were very tight. That's a great way to make hoop earrings - great thinking. Thanks again xx

Another fab episode in the series, thanks so much, Deb! I can't get over how versatile these pod beads are. Am so loving the shots of your work at the end. Gorgeous, gorgeous jewellery pieces!! And we're learning to speak Aussie too, bonus!! 😉😂😁🤗

They really are so versatile hey Emma. I actually didn't realise I had been creating them for so long and in so many different ways until I started looking for finished pieces to include in the gallery. So many things to do with them.

Absolutely loving this series. Your choice of colours and the composition of your finished pieces in the gallery is so reminiscent of the beautiful Aussie bush, particularly the area around Alice and the Kimberley region. Gorgeous!

That trick of rolling in your palms so as not to widen your hole is so helpful to me! Question: to curve the pod could you thread it with a wire then curve so your hole doesn’t collapse?
@debbiecrothers1
@debbiecrothers1 2 года назад
oh so glad that was helpful. You know it's funny you should mention the wire. I created an initial video where I demonstrated that but I decided to take it out because the video ended up being way too long and got a little off topic from the original variation. Yes...it's a whole other range of variations and think about what else you could use instead of wire!! There are so many more ways you can change up these pods. I haven't covered texture, colouring or using different surface designs. I might leave a few things up to you guys to think about! Would love to see what you come up with. Thanks heaps for getting in touch x

@@debbiecrothers1 yes of course you need to combine these with surface treatments. I’ve never used tube beads but I think for a choker some big curved ones along with other shapes might look really good.

is this method the same to use for banana shaped beads
@debbiecrothers1
@debbiecrothers1 Год назад
hey Deborah, I assume when you say banana shaped beads you mean "curved" beads? If so, then yes this is the method I would use. Thanks for asking

Deb, how do you get your patterns on the clay?
@debbiecrothers1
@debbiecrothers1 Год назад
Hey Deborah, I assume you're talking about some of the pieces shown at the end of the video. There are a variety of different surface treatments used in these ones. I've used crackle medium on the first beads and silkscreens on the black and white beads. Hope that helps.
