I really love how in every video you say to use your own pictures as inspiration and to not follow your tutorials exact because If they do then people won't learn as much but they also wouldn't find their own personal style or growth and they just become dependent on tutorials

@stephanie.kilgast
@stephanie.kilgast 7 лет назад
I think most artists need to go through a phase of copying, to learn before they can take their skills to something personal. They key is to let this be just a step and not a goal. :) And thank you so much :)

I've purchased round beachpebbles from someone and paint the dots on them, I use 'pastel'-colours (usually blue and purple and lightblue) and then the dots are white.

Judging from her accent, Stephanie Kilgast is probably German, so that is why she pronounces things a little differently, folks! More importantly, I want to congratulate you, Stephanie, on your insights and honesty on the complexity of being an artist (and needing to make art) and balancing being a good steward of the land. I love it that you talk about how each of us can start to make small changes that collectively become big changes. For instance, not using so many plastic bags for produce when we shop at the store, so that trillions of particles of plastic don't end up in the ocean. Tiny change and easy to do. None of us are perfect. So, keep up what you are doing and saying, Stephanie. And thank you for speaking out about desertification! I do wish someone would bring up the topic of overpopulation, as it relates to the destruction of our planet. It was openly discussed in the 1970s, but now everyone seems to be afraid to even bring it up. Two parents should bring only two kids maximum into the world. If you want more kids, adopt them, or foster care them, or help out with your neighbor's kids. Start the Conversation. "Zero Population Growth Now!" (thanks again)
@stephanie.kilgast
@stephanie.kilgast 6 лет назад
I am actually French, but I grew up in Germany and thus bilingual. I went to a French school though. Glad you liked the topic! And yes overpopulation is certainly an issue. Unless I change my mind, I don't want to make kids because of that. Maybe I'll find a way to talk about it in my artwork somewhen in the future!

Wow! So beautiful! I want to make a coral reef for an amateur stage production. Obviously, I would do mixed media due to cost factor. Could I maybe place cut polymer onto a ball of wax to reduce the amount of clay used? I.e. the wax melts away when I clay is baked and can be recycled?

this so makes me want to pull out the clay and start creating maybe i will after a bit i work with cold porcelain though so its a little different and i wish my ball ended tools would hurry up in the mail lol i did get my pack of rubber ended shaping tools anyone else wondering where you can buy them and not pay a fortune go to aliexpress its not superb quality but i got a whole set for like $2 thats alot better than $20 lol and they have ball ended tools under cake decorating and also a ton of silicone molds for cheap
@stephanie.kilgast

I'd suggest to buy little but quality tools. I've been working 5 years with a toothpick and double sided ball ended tool and some pins. You can slowly add to your collection, no need to buy everything in one go.
