That s incredible... all youtubers trying hard to simply replicate Polyphia´s riffs and you deconstruct and reharmornize the whole song as if nothing...and in an acoustic guitar! (indeed lots of work behind scenes, but the result is great) clearly classical, jazz and flamenco years of training pays off when showing such high level of virtuosity and makes the hardest things look so easy... also great to have you back making great videos, this one is from now on one of my favorites...

Classical guitarists have always been more technically proficient at the instrument than electric guitarists as electric guitar as electric guitar music is typically arranged with accompanying instruments in mind where as classical guitar approaches piano in the sense that classical guitar usually has no accompaniment, relying on the guitarist to cover all of harmony, percussion and bass. Different skill sets so you cant really compare the two and both fill different niches of phonic production and possibility but at least as far as technical ability (which as an aside is the single most useless metric for music as art is supposed to be concerned with a conversation with the observer, not a lecture on how good the artist is), classical guitar wins every time
@mrtoast244
@mrtoast244 8 месяцев назад
@@bigf0ot25 yea, Tim Henson is classically trained and used to play in a youth orchestra, but, his style grew (after learning to play rock/metal) to include the rest of the band (who are also really talented) so it's a given that solo Guitarists who are used to playing solo are more proficient on their own. As a whole though playing as a band lets you elevate your music as it's less restrictive with the amount of options you have. Though, it does restrict you in a different way, because you have to balance all the instruments, but it's easier when you have multiple experts in those instruments to help you.
@ossharkuenmeursault5609
@ossharkuenmeursault5609 8 месяцев назад
tim henson carries obvious classical guitar influences in his playing. but yes, classically trained guitarists are generally a very scary thing for rock guitarists. and people who cross over from classic to rock/metal find everything there insultingly easy :D . you have to give it to rock and metal, in how they are really good at selling their "virtuosos"

Most guitarists can't play polyphia songs, but Lucas Brar on the other hand, likes to make them harder

1st of all, you are a crazy great guitarist, next, this version of playing God is by far the coolest I've heard and finally, I can't live without that majic jazz hat in my life. Thanks for the great video. Instant subscriber.

This is next level guitar playing. The guys from the band are unreal, but what you did here is almost pornographically awesome. As a brazilian, is greatifying finally seen someone publicly acknowledging the Bossa Nova's influencie in this particular song. You are brilliant! Foda pra caralho!

Polyphia themselves acknowledge that the style of that section is bossa nova, it's not a secret. Watch "The Making of Playing God" at around 5:10 and TIm refers to it as "Wes's bossa nova section"

WOW!!!! That is just crazy. I laughed when you started walking the bass because I was like there is no way you going to be able to add in the melody. Bloody hell! Well done. Just marvellous. Im gonna dive into your other vids.
