Hey what’s going on everybody, it is GullYY here. Welcome back to another epic Polytopia video. Movement in Polytopia can be a bit of a tricky subject, especially since its never really explained. Ever wonder why your riders can only move one tile instead of two? Well this video will seek to answer that question, as well as provide all the information you need to know about movement in Polytopia.

Forgot to mention, some units have the "Fly" ability, which means they can freely move over any terrain, but can't get movement bonuses from roads. I know movement in Polytopia is a bit of a difficult subject; if you still have any questions feel free to ask

yes they can even if you don't have the tech to go there.

ngl i dont even calculate anything i just put roads down in the general vicinity of where i want to go and it usually works out

Another specific quirk of the movement rules is that Aquarion amphibians and tridentions can only move 1 tile on land without roads.

Before I found your channel, I though roads was just nothing but connecting cities and that having a large movement range was because you are in your territor. After this and being subcribed to your channel for many months now, I really understand how useful and strategic roads were. This is such an amazing video

Hey GullYY Can you explain here or make another video on movement in water/ocean. I understand how different naval units have different movements. However, do the port connections decrease movement point usage and how can boats sometimes seem to move through each other and other-times limit how far they can move? Also, if boats do block each other, is there a way to tell if there is a dingy/cloak-boat nearby by looking at how far you can move on water?

Port connections don't provide any movement point reductions; boats have 2 movement, ships and battleships have 3; enemy boats do emit a zone of control, they may seem to "move through each other if" they move out of and around your zone of control due to their 3 movement, dinghies don't emit zone of control. Hope that helps

Hey Gully You should discuss the matter with Knights, They get nerf, but in a way they got Buffed alot. Knights are still a strong unit, but now they have the ability to kill other knights!!! I found this to be infuriating because atleast in one of my game, my adversary just spam them, and I cant counter them. Ussually when one spam knights and the other also spam knights, it practically becomes a swordman spam vs swordman spam but with increased movement. But now, it feels like a race to get the visions of the enemy territories, because if one side is blinded and isnt able to see the enemies territories, their knights cant do anything, but the enemy can just spam as many knights as possible as long as they are just behind the other side's view. And when you are trying to amass knights, they could just send one knight and kill all of them.

Knights are the opposite of swordsmen. Swordsmen have 3 defence mate. Anyway the 10hp nerf was good. Wouldn't say they are op. I use them much less now that free spirit is worthless. Also: pls don't spam knights. They are supposed to be single use tools against unit spam.

Knight spam isn't good. It's quick but it can be countered by swordsmen or really any unit with more than 15 health lol

6:20 nope, probably not quite. What about going from ice onto land and the other way around when you have polarism? Is ice just treated as all roads when you have polarism?

I didnt understand the last example; why does moving from the city to the road consume 1 movement point? dont cities count as roads so it would consume 0.5 movement points?

I'm 9 months late but I think you're looking at the wrong rider. The one on the mountain is the one that's moving, not the one on the city. I should have made that more clear

Mm I think a cool thing to know that the shaman can power up other units (in Cymanti at least) and so if you don’t have use of shaman, don’t skip a turn without using this feature. One more thing to be aware of: if you upgrading the city and choosing the super unit - make sure around there’s enough space, cuz it can replace you’re current unit in the spot. And here’s my question: can someone explain: when breaking peace treaty . The side that breaks looses all units in the enemy territory but not vice versa? Thank you whoever responds 😄

The side that breaks may lose units and can't move anymore that turn, but that have the advantage of being able to attack first, because the ally can't attack on the turn right after the peace treaty is broken. That's a huge advantage to the one who breaks the treaty.

Thanks for great roads and tile’s movements explanation. For cymanti, what king of road mycelium does produce? This make a 3x3 road square for each Mycelium? Visually there is an automatic white road that connect two Mycelium, how this is produced and does it impact movements? And if this produce roads, Mycelium cost 5 stars and heal near units too, roads cost 2 stars each and don’t heal ! Is this overkilled?

for some reason when i move a cloak next to an enemy city sometimes its dash ability does not work

The cloak must be invisible before you move it. If you're training a cloak two tiles away from a city and then immediately move it next to a city to incite a revolt it won't work
