At the beginning of 2020, my wife and I decided to initiate a large-scale regenerative agroforestry project in the high jungle of Rioja, Peru. We planted 10 hectares (24.7 acres) of cattle pasture, utilizing 11,000 fruit and nut trees, as well as a couple hundred native timber trees.
We intend to carve out a homestead on this piece of land, and work with the earth; utilizing animals for both maintenance and sustenance, in order to create a new, permanent forest that provides for our basic needs and serves as a model system for environmental conservation.
