Oh, A fucking MEN to that, first time listener here and was dreading, absolutely DREADING the entrance of some kid growling shit over it. This musics is too elaborate to have stuff shouted on top.
Absolutely!!! Vocals have their place and this is not one of them. I am a lifelong drummer and heavy music listener and performer. This is thinking man's music. AMAZING!!!
Because it’s prog metal? Just because something is unique or creative doesn’t mean it’s going to be popular. Just because necrophagist is unique and clever doesn’t mean they are going to be put on Hits 1 lol That’s just part of being in a progressive or extreme metal band, you gotta understand that you aren’t really going to be popular :/
@@mason3872 Believe me, I know what you're talking about! I also play music lol It was a way to show appreciation. And Necrophagist yeah... I still read people whining for a 3rd album when the guy has a scientific career now. At least other bands are doing similar music (A loathing Requiem, etc...). In PT's case though, he studied music, there's no other band like it and Martin announced a 3rd album was in progress. Can't wait for this next masterpiece!
This music is so good, I just found out a lot of their songs are in standard tuning and that blows my mind, really proves that tuning has nothing to do with sounding "heavy".
down tuning has everything and nothing to do with sounding heavy. You can down tune without sounding heavy and sound heavy in standard tuning. Its about what your intent is when you compose, and not how you tune your instrument.
So I just realized that Salvador Dali has a painting called, Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, in which said painting there are two tigers coming out of a pomegranate. Inspiration or coincidence I'll let you be the judge.
every time I hear good progressive music written and performed by one person, I can't help but think" man, they must've listened to a lot of cloudkicker.
Thank you for sharing this, I am sure I speak for others when I say this; but the sharing of a full album for us to 'try before we buy' motivates me more, to buy the album.
I just discovered this guy this morning, this is simply amazing. Long time that i haven't heard such a good album, surely this is one of my new favourite now. Just amazing.
I'm not sure wether its a coincidence or not but when the bands came from canada and played technical music they will always blown you away with such a musical experience..
probably a coincidence. the progressive metal scene isn't really stationed there in any critical sense, like say mdm is on the Nordic regions for example. but you're right, p tiger is Canadian and much metal top come from Canada is equally as impressive.
***** The idea already exists man. Check out ohmstudio dot com --It's totally amazing. Also if you can't be bothered to read their page just check this out /watch?v=s4eRu7iHR_I Never come to the comments section of any place anywhere ever for the productive community. or call to action. It won't happen. Also I I feel like you're conflating pornographic lyrics with dirty vocals. No man. No. no no no. Words do not equal vocals. Any style, any tonality, any energy, any sound can be used to carry any lyric. I'll admit I have my own biases too. I can't stand the great majority of black metal vocals (or lyrics for that matter, but I recognize that the vocals and lyrics are independent elements that compliment may be complimentary, or in contrast of, each other). Also I can't stand pig squeals or high pitched shrieks, and I can't stand most rock or classic metal vocals. I prefer solid growls, they feel great to hear. It doesn't matter what the lyrics are or if I can understand them, just as long as they have the TONAL QUALITIES I'm looking for. That said I haven't seen anyone ask you to create porn, nor invest in expensive equipment to do it. As much as Abomination was a piece of shit who should go die and burn forever, he's right about one thing, just grab a camera and express yourself buddy, That's what art is about. And if you inspire someone to create or collaborate GREAT! if you don't then at least you've created something that people can appreciate and it didn't cost a bunch of money either. If you're really into the idea of online collaboration --then invest in Ohm Studio. It's worth it. I did.
If you wanna hear something neat, he actually seems to either have adapted a piece from Maurice Ravel right there at the outro, and then for a brief second again at 26:00, or he just managed to come up with it out of the blue. The piece @ 22:15 is the second movement of Gaspard de la Nuit, and at 26:00 he quotes the opening of the first moment. I'm wondering if there's a quote of the third movement somewhere, I'm listening closely now. BTW, there is no piece of classical music that I can recommend more if you've never heard it. The version here on YT played by Ivo Pogorelich is from another world.
So this is awesome, and I've only heard of a couple of the suggested acts that come up below it. I think you just sent me down a glorious rabbit hole. Well done, sir(s).
Pomegranate Tiger! Love your album covers, man. Oh, and the music, too. Just kidding, I like the music first. This kind of music could be the new classic of the future
This is great! I listen to it nearly every day. I just thought I would mention that the timestamp for "Cyclic" does not work. It appears as though there is a space after the colon.
Keep this sound up. These two albums just melt. Don't pull an Intervals and have a tech gnar gnar feel then go get you a singer who sounds like a 14 year old boy. Keep up the progressive god grooves. Melt those fucking faces!
