Hi David, thanks for the tip to check out salt Strongs video. It was great and right in my price range. So next time I’m at the dollar store, ( now called the $1.25 store) I’ll probably pick up a pair. I’m gonna go for white or yellow if they have it!!
Thanks for all the info. I have been tying my own rigs now for 2 years. I am getting my hooks, snaps, and swivels dirt cheap and great quality. I can't find a cheap source for floats. I have tried Temu, Ali express, ebay, Amazon, you name it. Any advice for a float source would be appreciated. Also, most advice i've received tells to use 20 or 30# line for the rigs, be it mono or fluoro. I just came back from Destin, the fishing was tough for pomps, I surmise my 20# rigs were too visible, any suggestions? Thanks again.
Floats are not easy to find cheap. I am currently using Bimoo Official Store on AliExpress for Hi Viz Yellow EPS in 12mm diameter and they are perfect. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!!
I use offset Circle hooks. It really doesn’t matter which brand in my opinion. So use the cheapest ones you can find. As far as size goes, use either a size 1 or a size 1/0. Guys with large fingers have a hard time with the size one hooks to get them baited however. Thanks for watching the video and making a comment. Good luck out there.
Hi SGP, glad you enjoyed this video. Like most things in life now, you can order them on Amazon and get them in a couple of days. Just search for "foam fishing floats" and you'll find many to choose from.
It is hard to find yellow only on Amazon. The mixed colors are available, but I have success on Aliexpress. You need to plan for a longer shipping time but they have them and they are cheap. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Dirk, Thanks for checking out the video. The floats are all hard eps floats. I just made a new video with some soft floats made from epdm flip flops which I will try this upcoming season. I am worried what the crabs might do to them, but we will see.
@@BlackMamba-lt8oe they're 3 inch cigar shape floater without weight because some of those floaters have a steel ring around the bottom part that has weight..i use the orange color. I buy them at Walmart, it comes in a bag of like 6 I think they're like 3 dollars a bag the only bad thing is that it only has one 3 inch orange floater and the othe 3 inch is yellow and the rest are smaller. I haven't tried the yellow yet. I use about 6oz sinker and a 6 or 7 foot 20lb leader line than a swivel size 3 to the main line, I attach the floater right on top of that swivel, I use 2 treble hooks size 1/0 i tie them with a 60lb black steel wire leader line about 12 inches long i tie the end of the steel leader line to the swivel and the hooks i just hook them right in to the foam of the floater, one on top of the floater and one on the bottom of that floater. Once you cast it I the weight of the sinker will bring it all the way to the bottom but the floater will keep it suspended off the sand under water on whatever height you set the floater on the line. Sorry about the long response but I just love fishing and will try any crazy things to catch a big fish... it goes main line than swivel than 12 inch steel leader line which has 2 treble hooks than I tie a 6 or 7 feet 20lb mono line to the bottom of the floater and about 5 to 6oz sinker to keep it in place on the floor. I don't know if it works anywhere else because I've only done it in the fishing pier.
