He certainly did an outstanding job portraying Jesus, Mr. Green. He initially auditioned for the role of Judas Iscariot, which ended up being performed by Ian McShane
I remember watching a very old Jesus Gospel movie when I was around 5, funny how God's presence was always around me and He waited for me patiently to come to Him, being recently born again around 4 years ago I realize that God was there every step of my life and I didn't even realize it. Thank you God for bringing me home.
@Laura Ingraham, Keep your hell-fire threats to to yourself - they make you unworthy of Jesus, son of God or no. You worship a god of love who does nothing better than send people to everlasting fire? Here's why I do not believe in your Jesus or in his resurrection: it's a simple and realistic reason why Jesus' tomb was empty! If I were Joseph of Arimathea, what do you think I would do if after taking Jesus down from the cross, I found that he was still alive albeit in a coma? The answer is simple: I would stage a mock burial as I can't possibly hand him back to the authorities to be crucified a second time. For this I would need help from James (Jesus' brother). The body I bore covered in linen to the cave-tomb wasn't a dead Jesus but his living brother, James! Meantime, I would have my friend Nicodemus tend to Jesus' wounds in some secret place! James would then let himself out of the cave-tomb sometime in the night! Incidentally, this was why the cave was chosen for a tomb as burying James in the ground would have killed him! This is the secret that Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus, James, Mary (Jesus' mother) and Jesus took with them to their graves! This also accounts for Jesus meeting Saul on the road to Damascus, resulting in the latter's conversion. Sadly, in fleeing Israel, Jesus was leaving his disciples in the lurch! But how do I know that it was James who took Jesus' place in the cave-tomb? Here's the evidence - straight from the bible itself! 1. James never spoke of Jesus' virgin birth, miracles and ascension to heaven! Like Jesus, James preached no gospel! All that Jesus allegedly preached in the Gospel of John (which was the last of the 4 gospels written) were works of poetic imagination as many of these key teachings were not mentioned in the other 3 gospels! For instant, the raising of Lazarus from the dead was never mentioned in the other 3 gospels! 2. James preached that "faith (i.e. faith in Jesus) without works is dead." This is a sharp contrast to what Peter, John and Paul preached i.e. one is not saved by works but by faith alone. 3. James warned of Christians whose tongues are like the rudder of ships i.e. they make mountains of molehills. He was referring to Peter, John and Paul and their claims that Jesus rose from the dead! 4. If Jesus was in the tomb, he would have been too grievously hurt, nor have the strength, to roll away the stone! It would take a person free of serious injuries to do that. 5. In the Book of Acts, Peter and Paul, rejecting the need for Gentile believers to be circumcised, criticized James for teaching that Gentile believers should be circumcised and abstain from blood and food offered to idols i.e. James was a devout follower adherent of Judaic practices. 6. Jesus himself said that he came to fulfill the law, and not to destroy it i.e. he too sought to fulfill Judaic laws. 7. Jesus was crucified not because he preached he was the Son of God (he in all probability never did - it was the gospel writers who proclaimed him to be the Son of God since they believed God raised him from the dead) but because he was critical of the hypocrisy and corruption of the pharisees and Sanhedrin. 8. Jesus' own family did not believe that he was the messiah or son of God. See John 7:5 9. On many occasions Jesus had to hide each time the Jews sought to harm him. After his so-called resurrection, he fled Israel for good (and met Saul on the road to Damascus) and was never seen or heard of again in the land of Israel. 10. If indeed Jesus was the way, the truth and the life, billions of unbelievers would go to hell. How then can one say that God is merciful when He doesn't seem to understand what forgiveness is! James and Jesus understood this better than the 4 unknown gospel writers, Peter, Paul and John. 11. Jesus could perform no miracles: Mark 6:5 - And he could there do no mighty work. Matthew 13:58: “And he did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.” All of Jesus' miracles are myths! 12. Matthew 10:34-36 - "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." Matthew 10:34-36 are heinous understatements Jesus made: As the purported Son of God, he did not foresee how his teachings would lead to the Holy Crusades and contribute to the Church's 1500 years of burning of people they consider heretics, apostates, blasphemers, and no less, the Jews for killing Jesus. 13. The gospel of Jesus was the gospel of Paul! He wrote most of the New Testament and his doctrines determine the doctrines in the 4 gospels. 14. The council at Nicaea chose the books that now make up the New Testaments. It rejected several other gospels, not least those that do not emphasize or speak of Jesus' resurrection. 15. Biblical characters in the Old Testament resorted to violence, trickery or deception to achieve their desired goals e.g. Kane killed Abel; Jacob deceived Isaac into believing he was Esau; Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah; David sent Uriah Heep into the thickest part of a battle so he would be killed and he could then marry Bathsheba; Peter and Paul offered money to the church at Jerusalem in the hope that James (then the leader at the church of Jerusalem) would be more amendable to their belief that Gentile could be part of the church without having to undergo Judaic rites (e.g. be circumcised) but James firmly rejected the offer! This circumcision requirement is recorded in Acts 15. My point is: who knows Jesus better and whose version of the gospel should one follow to be saved - James or Paul? After taking Jesus down from the cross, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus had to think of an ingenious way to save Jesus after finding that he was still alive! Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus are 2 men in the New Testament you would want for friends! However, I couldn't help but wonder: is Joseph of Arimathea the itinerant Joseph of Bethlehem, Nazareth and Capernaum for who else may claim Jesus' body unless he were a close relative if not the father? I am a born-again atheist. I seek only to know the truth. Years of pondering on the bible led me to my hypothesis that Jesus survived the cross. He would be appalled at what he and the Church had wittingly and/or unwittingly done! I rest my case.
I AM the TRUTH, Resurrection and the Life. No one comes to the father but by me. Jesus you are everything. Pilate was looking at the TRUTH which man has been looking for since the beginning. Shalom
What our Lord went through all for all of us Sinners . It will break your heart. If he had not gave his life for us. We would not be able to enter Heaven . Thank you lord for your love for a sinner like me . I love you yeshua!
Jesus is not just the king of the Jews, he's the king of the world! Everyone of this world, no matter where you're from or to whatever race, he is our king! He is the rightful king to all of us and we should praise his almighty name! King Jesus! AMEN
@@robertjones4060 you should read 1timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Manifest means here appear
We heard your voice the other night/morning JESUS my son and I...... March 30, 2020 @ 3:33 a.m. THANK YOU FATHER GOD✝️ THANK YOU JESUS✝️ Please keep us from hurting and disappointing you both!!! WE LOVE YOU BOTH SO VERY MUCH!!! ✝️
peace and Love, The truth or lack of it was no more in front of Pilate than it was in front of Jesus. We will never know if there is a God, if there is an afterlife, a heaven or a hell. Neither will we ever know if Jesus is the Son of God as he left no writing of his own!
DID YOU KNOW... Pilate's question "What is the truth?" in Latin -- "Quid est veritas?" -- is an anagram of "Est vir qui adest" -- "IT IS THE MAN IN FRONT OF YOU" !!!!
One of the greatest questions ever asked!!! God does not shy from answering rational questions because he says"come and let us reason together"! Does God have to dialogue with his creation? No!!! But because he wants his creation to know him as much as is necessary for our preservation and deliverance by his mercy he engages us!
As an Agnostic and Philosophy student. This is interaction is fascinating. Philosophy has been so determined and obsessed with finding "The Truth" whatever that is. We've tried with Math and Science but we can only get approximations. Even if a theory or mathematical is 99% correct it still isn't, technically, the truth. Since it is flawed. Would we even recognize the truth if it was in our face? I interpret this exchange as Jesus claiming to be the truth and Pilate doesn't even recognize it. The manifistation of creation. Physics and Ethics. Outstanding and moving. Christianity is much deeper than the fanatical literalists try to push on people.
PRAISE GOD! Sweet Dearest JESUS CHRIST is the King of kings. He will never change for us. He is still the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever and ever.
idk how to explain it, the shot at 0:05 is just genius. look at him, the way he carries himself and the distance between him and the camera, the size of the room they're in, i just cant describe it.
@MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN So if Jesus isn't dead, then his "death" on the cross is meaningless. After all death isn't a sacrifice if you don't stay dead
Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, "I find no guilt in Him.(John 18:38). In TRUTH you can't find guilt. It is... what "it is". Read again: What is TRUTH?... I find no guilt in Him(TRUTH). It is ...TRUTH! "And he said, They are indeed my people, children that will not lie; and he became their Saviour."(Isaiah 63:8) "They have told no lies; they are without blame."(Revelation 14:5) God bless you in TRUTH.
Weather you believe or not believe. One thing is for sure, you can't not fool Jesus he knows the truth no matter how smart you are. He knows the truth and you can not hide from him.
“And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40
The four individual gospel accounts of eyewitnessing the Christ serve as four different and perfectly congruent treatise on the most important presence and works in the History of the World.
Jesus had already answered the question, “What is truth?” before Pilate asked it- "I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth; everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice" (John 18:37). When you listen to Jesus, you hear the truth. He is the voice of truth. But few people give credence to absolute truth like that -truth applicable to “everyone”. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; nobody comes to the Father unless through me" (John 14:6). Most people would treat that as nonsense.
It's likely that Pilate's tone was sarcastic or disingenuous when he asked that too. Pilate didn't ask that because he wanted Jesus to tell him what the truth really was. How was He supposed to answer that when He knew the thoughts and intents of his very mind? To Pilate's credit partially, he did judge Him as a just Man who has done no evil or did anything worthy of Caesar's wrath. But the coward thought he could appease the Jews by having Him chastised.
Jesus was born to prove the truth that there is a God. Jesus was God in the flesh right in front of his face. 2019 and there are still a lot of Pilates seeking the truth 😔
The Truth is a Being. Pontius Pilot stares The Truth in the eyes and hears His Voice with his ears and doesn't recognize The Truth. I always thought this is the scene., to meditate on. Watch how fickle the mass of people are when Jesus (The Truth and Life )is presented to the crowd with Barabus (the murderer and liar.) Pontius Pilot asks the crowd who should he free unto them. The week before they wanted to make Jesus king, Palm Sunday. Now, through propaganda by government's mockery and religious leaders lies. The crowd yells out to let Barabus the murderer and liar free, send him to us, crucify innocent, Truth, life. Such a deep message about human nature and God's Divine Mercy and Love for a sinful world. Jesus tells His whole mission upon earth, to reveal The Truth. For He says: I am The Way, The Truth, The Life. He is each of those personified. Search for Truth and you will find Him and you will be set free. It also tells us that Truth is not popular among the masses. So, if someone is being followed, and very popular, know that that is a red flag.
Very good points. However, the crowd that greeted Jesus on Palm Sunday was made up of ordinary people. The crowd that called for Barabbas on Friday and told Pilate, "We have no king but Caesar" was made up of Jerusalem's elites, hand picked by the chief priests. Two different sets of people altogether.
Hmm...could be. I thought Pilot brought Jesus and Barabus out to the crowd gathered in the Roman Territory. You know what? Today is the first time I have ever googled: the crowd shouting for Jesus death in the bible... Apparently 'there is nothing new under the sun." This thought has entered others' meditations.
Jesus, the everlasting King, author of truth and salvation was standing right in front of him. The Sanhedrin and all those following the ways of the world were blinded by the corruption of the world, and therefore blinded from the truth. Praise the Lord, Jesus you are my shield and defense, my Saviour forever. His love endures forever.
Robert Powell is my favorite Jesus. Such depth and awe to this performance; I feel like if A Divine being spoke it would be like that; solemn and hauntingly reverent. Passion of the Christ and The Chosen just don’t do it for me as well as this film and this portrayal. In The Chosen Jesus just feels like a cool Youth Minister
@@matthewvalencia8638 Excuse me if I don't write you a whole paper on it, but a simple reading of the gospels and the book of acts reveals a very socialist style narrative. As for abortion, it's in Numbers chapter five. I recommend the New English standard translation, as with the others you have to know writing styles of the time to understand it, but New English Standard clears a lot of that up.
The Father is the word not Jesus. Jesus said in his prayers to God: Father I have given the disciples ( Your Word ). God gave His servant Jesus his word to share with his community.
As you use the phrase starting with the "word" The use of the word..."word" only meant one had knowledge Such as he has the word on cures for ailments...or she has the "word" on delivering babies into the world...you understand now..??? You think The "word" was Jesus himself...when it was not...it only meant he has knowledge ...(your welcome)....
I always felt the character of Zerah knew who Jesus was/is, especially when he peered into the empty tomb and declared NOW it all begins...anyone who studied scripture the way this character would have could not have helped but identified the signs that Jesus is the Messiah.
Jesus spared his words for those who were able to hear the Word. Jesus spared His pertinent words for those who could hear the Truth. Why waste the time when you know someone isn't capable of hearing the truth.
Christ paid the price for man's sin. No one else was able. It took a blameless blood sacrifice. He is the only one who even fit that description. It is finished. Amen!
The WORD of God is TRUTH. Every WORD reflecting the TRUTH is part of GOD. However, not everyone can handle the truth... or accept it... or forgive... TRUTH is: what WAS, what IS and what WILL BE. TRUTH IS GOD's name. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.(John 17:26) But... (2 Thessalonians 2:13) And... (1 John 5:6) ...The Father, the WORD, and the Holy Ghost; these three are ONE(1 John 5:7)
That is why a lot of people should know that the truth is in the reality. Were offered to us a bold vision of how we must search for the truth. It is not based on theories but if it is applied in the reality. They were still wandering what is the truth once Jesus had already showed them in the reality.
The truth is very much alive in spite of our reluctance to accept Christ. Evidences of his life remain bountiful , yet we ignore the truth. A sad, tragic day for man. We few strong beliefs, faith must testify of the truth. I do for I had seen Jesus after a series of death.
Nobody is in more or less need of Christs mercy. We are all in desperate need of Christ's mercy always because nobody is without sin! "If any man says he is without sin, he is a liar and the truth is not in him" we all sin, willingly or unwillingly. Not one, not one of us is deserving of going to heaven and that means as followers of Christ we cling to Jesus desperately and hope and pray everyone recognises and accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour in their hearts so that they *will be saved. Jesus is the only way. Amen.
