In todays video we are wiring up a pool hut which entailed me cutting into a supply cable and making that supply my new fuseboard then I can wire from that to the pool equipment + wire up the inside of the pool hut which will be featured on future video’s.

Great video Adam, so many extra bits of work to keep you going there. Re cable testing and live checks, never feel like you need to apologise or explain yourself to anyone on here for making safe, you don't get another chance if you get it wrong. Look forward to the next video. 👍

Good job Adam, It is so difficult to have a DB outside, to help the IP rating you should have used the round covers that go over the screws and I would put a silica jell pack in the box. As you wont stop moisture in the box. You done the work when it was damp so you trapped damp air in the box so when it heats and cools moisture will build. I would give it a couple of years and the board will start corroding. I have installed a few boxes like that as a junction box and all the din rail connections rusted.

That looks like an interesting job, van next to the job is always a bonus. Are you planning on dropping an earth rod or getting the ground workers to dig a hole for a earth mat. I use to fit plastic enclosures outside and find they go brittle after a few years. I now use fibreglass cabinets and reinforce the bottom entry with a sheet of plastic. Fibreglass cabs are expensive but look good. And throw in a silica bag to capture the odd bit of moisture.

Why do you feel the need to reinstate the temporary 35mm 3 core going to the outbuilding which the owners have sold with a 25mm 3 core SWA on a 63amp device when you already stated it was for chargers and a kettle maybe? For 10 days ? You could have just lashed a bit of 2.5mm on to the 35 and put it on a 16-20 amp device ? I’m also sure that the owners will question the position of the consumer unit in time being that low, and having to find a screwdriver to get the lid off to re set any tripped devices?

Nice job Adam... Just a suggestion, use brass locknuts on those swa glands vs the standard steel ones, because they will eventually corrode.. Yoo good job 😂

Why does the ip rated enclosure have to be so close to the ground ...? Maybe i missed something

Couple of questions, Not knocking your work at all just curious. Would an ip rated fuseboard have been better for access if a circuit trips or one of the standard electrical wall boxes with a locked door ? Fuseboard looks very low to the ground and i would worry about submersion in water in the likley event of flooding/pool leak/ boiler leak. Sure theres reasons ive misssed maybe or is it that theres just more than one way to skin a cat. Nice work and great vid and good idea on the rotary isolator much better than a torpedo joint on a tempory supply. Be interested to know how its supplied at the house end, just 100amp fused rcd switch? Hopefully get to see the follow up vids for this 👍

Looking good! I would have tried to convince the customer not to have the consumer unit on the outside!
@AdamDunlopElectrical

You and me both however I understand why they want it outside and the way I’ve done it there will be no issues
@shaynemacdonald3051
@shaynemacdonald3051 2 месяца назад
Always issues when installed outside. Condensation etc means it will corrision will appear within 5 years. IP washers and IP67 a must. Never drill fixing through the box.@AdamTheElectricalApprentice
@shaynemacdonald3051
@shaynemacdonald3051 2 месяца назад
That Gewiss JB is IP56. Always aim for fitting IP67 then you aren't fixing through the box. Get into the habit of using 20mm IP washers for your glands etc. Good job.

It was a bit challenging, ain't? Anyway, nice job done again. But is it me, or the customer drank a few shots more than he/she should, so they asked for a fully closed fuseboard? What if some breaker trips? Will they always screw / unscrew the cover? Asking for a friend... Your chicken legs are extra content, so never mind. ;) :D
