With the last point on important notes I mean that for you it might not be exactly half a tip that euqals one diamond, but maybe 0.45 or 0.55 - depending on your tip with it's curvature and the condition of the rails and environment. I hope you enjoyed this lesson. See you at 100,000!

Just a bit of additional information to add, speed is a significant factor especially on different types of tables (i.e diamond vs valley vs Brunswick) as well as speed on the english being used. A recommendation I have for learning kicks is to use the same speed whenever you using english, so that you have a basis to work off of for future shots. Another great video sharivari, I send alot of your videos to people who always ask me for help on learning how to play pool. You always have great visual aids in your videos. Which makes them perfect for beginners

FINALLY!!! I've watch so many videos about calculating angles. They're basically "count the diamonds" as if the balls are always going to be perfectly lined up. But no one really shows clearly how to adjust on the cue ball like this video. They just say "u will have to make adjustments so practice doing that." (Obviously) But your explanation of "how to" is great & immediately answered the questions that the other videos left me with. Really APPRECIATE you taking the time to make this.

I use the reverse aiming method to compensate the deflection. still depends on the angle only applicable if it is not more than 30 degrees. but if the angle is more than 30 degrees just use back hand english after aiming it in the center of the cueball.

In the drill you have in this video, you talk about finding the angle of incidence. For example, on the ONE ball, you talk about finding the angle of incidence, and that it comes up short. What angle of incidence are you talking about? You really don't indicate where your starting point or point of reflection is, you just say that you are checking the angle. What angle? Because, can you not find an angle , really on any of these six shots, that will give you an angle of reflection that takes you directly to the object ball without having to add ANY English??? Therefore, if so, then this drill is ONLY for practicing how much English to use to go a certain extra amount. I enjoy your videos and training, as they have helped me considerably, but this one is not that clear on exactly what you are doing.

The tip system works well when needed on a good table that banks correctly. Our local bar table has every problem imaginable and you're lucky to get a standard kick or bank in half the time!! I don't use high/low on the cue ball, just a touch of inside/outside english. Seems to work for me.
@Jason-TheChad-Muska_circa1995
I just started playing pool the Friday before last. So, almost two weeks ago. I have put a good amount of time into it in those two weeks. Last night was my seventh-day playing and I have put about 15-16.5 hrs into it. I haven't been playing with anybody except for two games because I always go by myself. However when I played somebody last night who has been playing for over 10 years and is pretty good I beat them fairly easily. I was shocked And they were too. I guess I have been pretty ignorant at that point but they referred to me as a potential prodigy. I'm already able to do two and three real shots as well as using English to manipulate the rails and the queue and I am able to clear the table while only missing two to four shots on most attempts. When I break the rack I consistently make somewhere between two three balls as well. I'm not saying this to brag I'm saying this because I was shocked to find out that I was that more advanced than not only other individuals who have only played for two weeks but also comparative to the average individual who's been playing for 10 years. I was in the assumption that people knew how to read the rails and what the individual diamonds mean and how to manipulate them. But then again when I get into something I am pretty OCD about it and I tend to be overly analytical with it and focus on learning each individual basic function no matter how boring in order to have a sound fundamental understanding of whatever it is I'm doing. This game without question as a life long loving player at this point and I can't wait to see where I'm at in the next month and then in the next year. I am straight up addicted to it.

I'm loving the way you explain in order right now. I have an eye so I can see what you mean. But when it comes to my hand. I got to get it more steady... Because what I see and then how my hand translates ain't always the same. But I can see the geometry just fine on the table. But I tend to use a 20 or 21 stick. I end up getting too much follow through a lot. So finesse is only hard because of a heavy stick. But if I use a lighter stick....I only overshoot, more often than not. So I stick to a heavy stick and try and not hulk it. I'm better at combo shots than I am normal single shots. Idk why. But a basic cut into the side pocket is my hardest shot.

Fantastic video as always! One small English lesson for you, since you are so good but i bet you always want to improve and this hurts ours ears as you say it often in your videos: in english we would never ever say "too less" (or "or too more"), it must be "too little" (or "too much"). So at 7:40 it should not be "I added too less spin", it must be "I added too little spin".

This definitely works with one rail kicks but is it the same approach when shooting combinations where it’s the second ball that has to get to the pocket; I always look at the first ball of any combination as if it’s the cue ball and simply say where do I have to hit the first ball to make the second ball. The most important step is to make sure you don’t hit either ball so hard that you move the second ball out of the pocket. Great video as always
@andrewcbuensalida

@sharivari, shooting directly into the rail, half a tip of right rebounds about 1 diamond to the right. What if you add low or high to that? Also, is there a calculation on how many diamonds the shift is when you apply high or low on an angled rail kick?

@@ryanmccarthy8625 Not really. If you go from a 9 footer to a 7 footer you will find you'll be over-shooting a lot and having a harder time navigating the closer proximity traffic until you adjust, and if you go from a 7 footer to a 9 footer you tend to under-shoot until you adjust for the bigger surface. @RRJOfficial 4 года назад
If I understood the video correctly ... Short way: 1/2 tip = 1 diamond, full table Long way (double the size of short way): 1/2 tip = 2 diamonds, full table He counts how many diamonds the cue ball is from the object ball (in this case the pocket) by counting 1/2 diamonds (1/4 tip), e.g. 1.5 diamonds short way is 3/4 tip and 3/8 diamonds on long way which sounds pretty difficult for me, so I would just hit 1/4 fast or 3/4 slow and wish the best, unless I could use the opposite side rail or both. 😅
@NemonicsRacing
@NemonicsRacing 4 года назад
Find the 2 diamonds that "best" line up with the ball. In the video the ball best lined up with 3rd diamond on top rail & 5th diamond on bottom rail. That angled -> / distance was 2 diamonds /..| so you double that to make a triangle /..|..\ ( so.. 4 diamonds). He then counted those 4 diamonds over to see how many more diamonds were left from there to the pocket. It was 1 diamond additional to that so he added 1/2 tip on the cue ball. (I hope that was the answer u were looking for)

If your anywhere in the US, do you give private lessons. After we all get vaccinated for Covid I would love to get private lessons, or however you work this . Maybe even a couple people at a time. Let me know if it’s possible. Thanks

Unfortunately I am from Germany. The way I do lessons with people from all over the world is via live video call.

Great video once again. I recommend you to all of my friends trying to learn the game properly. Another important NOTE: when using reverse or backspin, it is important to use a firmer stroke so that the cue ball does not turn to forward roll after hitting the rail or it will miss (it should feel akin to hitting a stop oe stun shot). When moving 1 diamond down table, requiring 1 tip of reverse, also apply draw to the stun or stop stroke. The cue ball will banana curve back to the object ball, increasing your chance s of making it. Ass you stated any sort of top or bottom will also affect the shot. So I'd recommend aiming at 3 or 9 o'clock on the cue ball (along the horizontal axis of the cueball) when determining tip width for more consistency. Finally, players may have a differnt idea of what 1/2 tip and 1 tip means. 1/2 tip is actually 1 width of your shaft width from center ball. So 1 tip is actually 2 widths of your shaft from center ball. And it can be MEASURED! If you want to measure 1/2 tip, place your right or left edge of the cue stick at center (depending on which direction you are shooting). If you want to measure 1 tip, place the edge of your shaft at center, (example left edge when shooting toward the right), see where your right edge is and move your left edge again to to where the right edge was.. like using a ruler. If aiming with running spin, I'd recommend using what feels like a follow stroke (bot top but at the horizontal center. Same sort of stroke but not at a following positioning that make since). It allows the spin to take affect and avoids fighting against it by accidently applying some stun to the shot). On reverse spin shots, you want stun to prevent the cue ball from turning into follow. On running spin shots, you do not!! To avoid the ball from coming short. Allowing the spin to take affect.

Sorry if this a stupid question, but in using the diamond system, do you aim for the actual diamond, or for the bumper directly in front of the diamond? I'm assuming it's the spot on the bumper directly in front of the diamond. Thanks.

Always directly at the diamond, so you're going to hit the rail at a slightly different point, but it will work that way.

@sharivari, is there a system to calculate how many diamonds to the right AFTER the cue ball hits an object ball? Like how much spin remains?
@Sharivari
@Sharivari 3 месяца назад
As far as I'm concerned, there is no system for that. I mean, you could come up with your own by experimenting at the practice table, but I've always done it by feel / experience.

When measuring the angle with the cue makes no sense?. Too fast. You pick up the butt of cue and rapidly move across the table, sometimes using different amounts?
@Sharivari

It's just measuring the angle of incidence and reflection using the diamonds, like shown before.

Learned electronics in the Air Force, wasn't that good with math and that's what electronics is about. NOW! I've got to learn more math only now it's angles. Will it never end. RATS!!! ✌️😆
