I think that Ronnie O'Sullivan's greatest skill is his timing and its one of the least understood and most difficult to explain aspects of great cuing.
I have a question about sidespin, where is the maximum left, maximum top left (miscue limit) etc and than what are you using when applying sidespin the BHE or FHE?
this is what I am now dealing with more than ever , decelerating so I do not over hit , and then missing the object ball that was so easy , the table is so worn and only 29 inches tall , ugggg it's even hard to stay down on a shit also
Great video as always! Do you have any pointers on how to improve it (timing)? Just be aware of it while training and playing and get the feel for it or do you have specific exercises? Thank you!
I think you might have just helped me figure out why some days I'm a quarter of a diamond off on my cuts and other days I'm dead on. I've been presuming my head/hand/elbow was just sitting at a slightly different position than the days prior
I just wanted to see him play the shot correctly as it is a shot I struggle with. I'll have to try it with just left and see how that goes. I find I usually miss this shot thin so maybe I need to complete my stroke better as well.
Best explanation of timing I've ever seen. Jeanette Lee also has a good short video on stroke where she Compares it to pushing a child on a swing. Check that out if you feel like it. Thanks for all your hard work
Another excellent video. I’m looking forward to the next one. Maybe you can address an issue I am having: When I cut a ball ( say 30 degrees) using draw (6:00), I miss the pocket. I think I am getting some kind of spin induced throw, but I don’t really understand what is goin on. Perhaps you can explain it to me. I also have a similar problem using follow (12:00).
You are inducing spin. It's the same concept as hitting a ball hard or soft making your cut angles change slightly. If I recall correctly top spin will make the cut angle smaller (undercut), while bottom will widen the angle (overcut). Interestingly you can see this effect the most by doing a cross bank with the ob married to the cushion and doing a very thin cut. (To paint a picture, ob 3rd diamond long rail. Cue ball 2 balls away from same rail about a diamond up table). Top will cross bank the ball farther down table, and bottom can actually cross bank the ob towards you slightly
I know :( When I was watching the video after the release today I thought the same. Could have shown both shots, the low left and the just left spin. Not gonna forget it next time.
