glass bead blasting is the cleanest and most efficient method. similar to sand blasting the glass media is poured into a hopper or blast pot where compressed air siphons the tiny beads into the air stream and out through the ceramic or tungsten nozzle where the beads fall harmless into the pool to be filtered out as you vacuum the pool.

Awesome job man!! What size glass bead are you using if you don’t mind me asking ? I’m blasting with maxxstrip but it just takes a bit too much time.
@djsissom
@djsissom 9 лет назад
We are using low pressure compressed air with tiny round glass beads.

dry ice is much better than glass media, less mess.
@abramruelas5176
@abramruelas5176 7 лет назад
phatrides222000 will have to add that to the try it list
@djsissom
@djsissom 7 лет назад
phatrides222000, dry ice isn't cost effective especially with the volume of work we do. We clean 3 pools per day 7 days a week. Not to mention we won't have time to stop almost daily for dry ice supplies.

dry ice media so SUPER expensive, so is the specialty equipment@@abramruelas5176

Are you using just an sir air compressor?
@dasissom
@dasissom 3 года назад
It's air mixed with tiny glass beads. We use smaller size than 90% of companies so we can be extremely delicate on the tile.

Hi, I’m north of Sacramento. Do you do pools in our area and what does it cost for standard size pool?
@dasissom

I'm really sorry for the delayed response. RU-vid did not notify me we had a comment. Yes we do service all of the greater Sacramento area. I'm hoping you already called and if not we would be more than happy to help. 916-714-7665 Darren (Owner)

What are you using? It's a great job but not much help in telling us how to do it ourselves?

This isn't something you do. This is our process that we do for our customers.

OK, it's good if your customers are where you are, but what about us poor souls over the other side of the planet? Still, an idea to tweak/discover our selves?!

He is using glass beads to sandblast off. Why not just use diluted muriatic acid?
@billymason1915

Is that just a ball valve?
@dasissom
@dasissom 6 лет назад
Billy Mason, it's a carbide ball valve with an adapter and carbide blast tip. We have the carbide tip holder custom made for us.

Elite Pool Tile Cleaning what psi and cfm is optimal for this?
@dasissom
@dasissom 6 лет назад
This tip requires about 18 cfm and we average 50-75psi for most jobs. The biggest issue is making sure you have enough cfm. Most guys buy too small of a compressor and overwork it.

how do i find a tip/nozzle like this?
@abramruelas5176
@abramruelas5176 7 лет назад
what psi is best
@djsissom
@djsissom 7 лет назад
Abram Ruelas, there are too many factors. Most the time is around 50 psi but it all depends on the tile. it ranges between 20-100 psi.
@abramruelas5176
@abramruelas5176 7 лет назад
Darren Sissom Thank you, I just found out also cfm has a lot to do with it. I'm running 125 psi gas at 80 psi giving me around 15 cfm. cool video. thank you for responding.
@abramruelas5176
@abramruelas5176 7 лет назад
Darren Sissom yes I noticed I'm starting to see. I have to ask what was the cfm at the time of this video. I'm trying to tweak that perfect set up. you did a great job
@djsissom
@djsissom 7 лет назад
Abram Ruelas, I'm using a very small nozzle at around 18 cfm.

How.much does it cost for a set up like this? Compressor, media tank, gun, hose, etc.
@dasissom
@dasissom 6 лет назад
808k20a2, there are many factors to that. If you want an entry level setup it would set you back about $20,000. We just added our second truck new to the fleet this year with a total cost about $110,000. All depends on how serious you want to be about it.
@808k20a2
@808k20a2 6 лет назад
Oh wow, $20k! I dont think it would make sense for me than considering I dont get as much work flow as you do. Thanks for the reply though.
@dasissom
@dasissom 6 лет назад
808k20a2, that $20,000 would be all the required equipment to turn a profit within a year or two. We originally started with a cargo trailer and the equipment.
@frank51105
@frank51105 5 лет назад
What all exactly do you recommend buying for the setup? I can see 20k being worth the investment
@reid1boys
@reid1boys 4 года назад
I bought a new compressor, 3 50 lbs boxes of the glass beads, and the blaster itself from Harbor Freight for about 330 dollars today.

In no way shape or form is media blasting ok for any tile. I dont care if you're using walnuts as the media. Simple solution of muriatic acid. This guy probably charges stupid money to fuck up people tile. Guys like this are the same guys that say "you dont need new plaster, just paint it". Ask your pool mechanic and if your pool mechanic says we can media blast it...find a real mechanic.
