Poole level crossing gates failed to close on Saturday morning to allow trains past. Although the barriers were still in the up position a train did make its self known to the pedestrians as the driver blew the horn. Thats was the 1W54 1007 Poole to London Waterloo. I had problems getting to the camera on my new phone to record it. But i did manage to rewcord what happened next. Some people are going to be blase about it. But there were a few people that were annoyed by the individual.

I am shocked to hear that from a parent with a child especially from an off duty police officer.

As an off duty policeman I hope he got an absolutely bolocking when he went to work, especially teaching his child such stupidity!

Blimey mate, there are some plonkers about. Police officer or not, he should know better. And to judge that the unit was 'broken' simply don't cut it. He's the type of person that would step on a third rail, claiming its only active when a train is on it

If he's a Police Officer then he should know that its an offence to pass Level Crossing lines when lights are on and its also an offence to Trespass on the Railway.

I have on occasion seen little kids holding onto the slats and be lifted up when the barrier rises. There are thick white lines on the ground which you are meant to stand behind, but parents don't realise little hands can get caught in those slats.

That so-called-police-officer committed two offences. 1 - crossing on a red light and 2 - if he is a police officer, abuse of power, or if he isn't a police officer, pretending to be a police officer. I hope you reported him to the local police station!

The Poole High Street Crossing is manually controlled from Signallers by CCTV at Basingstoke. The gentleman with the young child should not of walked across. The klaxons can certainly be heard and I'm sure that the red road lights would of been flashing. This still means STOP!! No one should be crossing at all. Just because the barriers are fully raised obviously means there was a fault with the crossing or signalling equipment. The train is stopped at the protecting signal for the crossing. If the signal cannot be cleared for the train to proceed the Signaller will advise the Train Driver to pass the protecting signal at Danger and proceed with Caution and be prepared to stop short of any obstruction. Hence why you can hear the trains horn being sounded. I think that as soon as the train passed the protecting signal the Signaller was able to lower the barriers. I don't think the guy in the video was a police officer, if so then he's broken the law himself.

+steadyeddy69uk He wasnt a police officer. I know about the barriers being controlled from Basingstoke as the box at Poole is due to be demolished in the next week or so. :)

OK so if he's an officer shouldn't he be telling people not to cross and use the bridge?

I have seen people stop for a chat on this crossing. Not the place to stop anytime. At least everyone else was doing the right thing and staying clear of danger.

I remember when i volunteered at a greyhound rescue (dog walker) there was a level crossing near the rescue, and a few times i saw some of the other dog walkers stood on the crossing chatting (and each of them had a greyhound with them) And there was one time when the crossing went off just after i started crossing, at the point when the alarm went off (being as i was already past where the barrier would come down) i continued across, but i did start walking slightly faster without actually running And after i had gotten clear of the crossing, i turned around to find that my sister had followed me across

if he was a police officer he would have also helped to stop people from going the across the crossing and also he shouldn't be talking to members of the public in that manner.

1:00 Complain about his conduct, he won't be trained on crossing railway lines unless he's a member of the British Transport Police. Even if he was he was rude to you which is unacceptable in itself!

+Reece Meacham I just happened to be there at that particular time. Most of the time if the barriers go down I dont bother about it. But I was trying to get my camera working on the phone as the other desiro came through at 5mph and the barriers were still up.

The gates lifted and everyone began to cross but not one looked left or right for a possible second train ! There are two tracks ! Wow !
@HentisRail
@HentisRail 3 года назад
The train that appeared towards the end of the clip was running wrong line into the station as it was finishing its journey at Poole. The train should have been on the other line. But like I said it was terminating at Poole so it runs into the up platform. So no there would not have been another train coming. Also the gates are controlled by a signal box. And there are always signals set to red on either line protecting the level crossing.

"Won't somebody please think of the children?!" Try not to stress over it. He was holding the child's hand and I assume he looked before crossing.

Not through Poole they dont. 20 mph max across the crossing. But it will still make a mess out of you though.

If that crossing is a pedestrian-only crossing, then why isn't there just a bridge?
@aidanmacqueen7113

By law there has to be disabled access for people unable to use the bridge

If he's a police officer then he should know better than that, especially given the fact he's putting his kid in danger. Typical arrogant plod, thinks he's above the law.

I mean, when the train is at a stop, it's practically safer than crossing a main road. You don't need to purposely embarrass People in front of everyone.

Of course you were there and witnessed the whole event? You didnt? Oh so what the hell Do you know then? Nothing. You wernt there seeing the trains cross the crossing with no barriers down and people trying to cross at the same time. As for an off duty police officer. Load of bollocks.

When the alarms are sounding or the lights start flashing, it is illegal to cross. So he shouldn't have minded his own business, actually.
