I love this show but I makes me feel so guilty watching it. My 8 (almost 9) year old terrier mix was neglected by his owner for the first few years of his life, and despite being trained by a wonderful dog lover, my uncle only got him as a toy for his kids who wanted a poodle. I don’t even want to think about the damage if he had actually gotten a poodle. Anyway, I was only 12 when we got him and was never able to walk or train him myself. He still has depression and separation anxiety from being cooped up in the house and yard his whole life This past year though I’ve been working really hard to at least leash train him and the tips I’ve been getting from this show (like how to properly set boundaries and grab his attention) and the trainer who is helping me with our puppy, he’s finally starting to learn how to behave on our walks and runs. I just wish I could have been able to help him sooner I don’t know if anyone will see this in the 700+ comments but thank you for teaching everyone how to properly help a dog

Thank goodness my pug doesn’t eat poop. Yuck! Btw... my dogs ( pug and lab) are both trained and understand the command “leave it” for anything I don’t want them to go near, or to get away from. Firm voice, and it took more than one day for them to learn it....lol Consistency is key. Dogs understand more than we give them credit for.

I'm glad this was addressed in an episode. In a lifetime of owning dogs and 12 years of fostering dogs, I have NEVER been successful at getting a dog to STOP eating poop unless I can get to them when they FIRST start the habit. The most I've ever been able to do is get them to NOT eat it while I'm watching, however, it's impossible to be on guard EVERY single second! Its a terrible habit and it makes it really hard to fully enjoy a dog's companionship. I liked the chart of all the reasons dogs might start this habit. Unfortunately the multiple reasons just make it that much more difficult to fix it. It's definitely not a 'one size fits all' solution.

This is making me appreciate my backyard 10 times more than ever, BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE.

my oldest dog used to do this as a puppy but we just redirected her from poop as soon as she saw it and grew out of it. I'm so glad she didn't stick with it and I can trust her in the backyard.

This is a knew one for me, heard of dogs eating poop once in awhile but not on a regular basis. Lol. But easy fix for some loveable and cute pugs.

I’ve bin begging for a dog for 6 years now I know how to train thanks to Victoria and now when my brother goes to university in 3years I can finally get a dog, better then nothing

Years ago I had a dog that ate poop but thankfully none of my other dogs have since. Interestingly there are some animals that actually require poop as part of their regular diet. Guinea pigs eat their own poop which has extra vitamins that weren't properly absorbed the first time, it's essential for their health.

The one episode where it's actually the dogs and not the owners fault 😂 LOL

At the park I go with my dog there’s a huge dog who eats poop of all the dogs and all the pop that it’s on the floor when he arribes. But when another dog pop, he eat it like an icecream machine, it doesn’t even touch the floor 🤮🤮🤮

Isn’t it a warning sign when dogs are attracted (a little too much) to their feces? I’ve heard that they could be lacking some sort of protein so they look for it elsewhere.

My dog used to eat her poop. It might sound odd, but I praised her while cleaning it up and it broke her habit. The secret is she was getting rid of her accidents in hopes I would keep her/ wouldn't cage her. The praise made her understand that such a life was in her past and I was willing to work with her. Next was to find out why she had accidents.
