I have an elderly cat with protein allergies that made her ears itchy. No croc/tapioca cat food here in the States, but finally we found special food that worked!
FINALLY a vet who does a Protein/Allergy Trial instead of just say "feed this vet food!". My dog was severely getting ill with a sensetivitey to food. My vet just kept medicating him and telling me I will need to put him on their vet food, but keep feeding chicken and rice for now... I saw something about grain allergy and took the rice out of the chicken and stopped feeding any grain. 2 days later he was perfect again! IF I had put my dog on that vet food, it could had potentially admitted him because he was SO unwell. With the approval of another vet; he now eats a balanced raw diet and is better than ever. Have not had any sensetivities since.
We had to do a similar protein trial for two of our dogs in the past after they had similar allergic reactions (recommended by our veterinarian and carried out under strict supervision- though one was a lab mix so he'd eat anything, even Broccoli if we let him lol). It's amazing how much a difference diet can make.
Yes. My now elderly cat was on special protein allergy kibble for years to help with her itchy ears. Her ears got better, but it wasn’t until she began Royal Canin renal diet canned moist food that her ears cleared up. Glad your pup is better, too. It is trial and error, just as you said.
It is amazing how much the wrong food can affect the overall health of an animal (or a human), great results for Luka with one small change. Dogs aren’t meant to eat much grain at all…protein is best. Good intuitive diagnosis and cure, saving the dog a lot of grief.🖤🇨🇦
It isnt a small change at all. Tapioca based dog food prices are really high, im not kidding when I say that most people can't afford it. Although, yes, it was necessary and i'm glad she commited to buying it.
@@Reir0o In the long run I suspect the food works out a bit less than repeat visits to the Veterinarians, and trial runs with different treatments. Also saves everyone the stress of a dog suffering constantly.🖤🇨🇦
Good choice Norse Butterfly. I used to give my cat raw diet once a week, and the results were amazing. It doesn’t have to be every day to make a difference.🖤🇨🇦
I just admire the work of these vets, but worry that all across their channels they are going the direction of concealed sponsorships of protein food and dog coats without a popper warning on their video description that this is a paid sponsorship. I thought they were supposed to have a note at the top of the screen of the video when it contains a paid sponsorship.
Bet that special food is expensive. Pets are definitely worth it, don't get me wrong. But it would be nice to know exactly what he was allergic to in his previous diet.
