As a 4 leaf clover collector, since ive learned that the higher concentration of flowers in a patch means a more likely chance of 4 leaf clover, id be addicted in that field

so lemme get this straight... you dug up (stole?) a bunch of flowering clover (that probably doesnt have seeds, only nectar and pollen), literally just threw them into your yard, and expect them to not only survive but reproduce? sorry for the tone, theres just a few things happenning here. generally, if you dig up a plant that is close to flowering/is flowering then it will die because of the amount of energy that takes. plants also dont tend to do well if you dont give them enough dirt to keep their roots cool, wet, and dark, especially if you toss them right out in the open with no shade. plants only make seeds after the flowers die away, and the only other way to get these to spread would be to have enough of the root in the ground and for it to be healthy enough to grow. pollinators will not like these once theyre cut, especially because theyre on the soggy soil where plant material goes specifically in order to rot. im sorry, but you fucked up in like, every way dude. buy a pound of seeds for $8, spread them the week before halloween, and youll actually get a better bang for your buck the following spring when you factor in that for $8 you have (substantially) more clover, spent less time digging (your time is at least worth minimum wage, dont you think?) and maybe less gas, but idk ur life. I wish you better luck in the future, may you not make the same mistake more than once

Yeeeeaaaah… I hate being “ that person” but it turns out it’s much better to either A) harvest live plants and transplant them into nice soil while they are just starting to come up from the ground or B), harvest the flowers once they have dried out and turned into seed heads ( locally for my region this is usually mid to late august, but every region will differ depending on climate). Sow in early early spring or in the fall ( just before halloween as the OG poster mentioned is probably gonna be your best bet). If you live somewhere with cold deep winters cover seeds after planting with some burlap and come spring you will have an abundant seeding of clover , and if you top up your lawn in early spring with more seed you will have a lush thick amazing clover lawn that will do wonders for your garden & the environment….. but on a positive note at least this gentleman is trying and THAT is what really matters Also… clover seed is cheap on Etsy, or you can harvest locally in the right season…

that's not crimson clover it's red clover (should be pink clover imo). crimson is Italian clover it's dark red and it's in America but they are commonly mistaken both ways.

My guess is that those haven't gone to seeds yet... you have to wait for them to stop blooming..

I agree with you they were not seeded yet.

The material you collected has no viable seed in it. It was all flowers. If you wish to do this, wait until the seedheads have been brown (dead looking) for at least a couple of weeks. Scout the fields out ahead of time, so you know where to go collect. Better yet, go to your local feed/seed store and purchase clover seed of adapted species and cultivars for your area. For some you can purchase just a pound or two. Make sure it has been preinoculated with proper rhizobial bacteria so that you get proper nitrogen fixation. And take soil tests to see if any nutrients are in short supply and if your pH needs adjusting. You can't get established just by collecting clover flowers.

+Robert Lane well where there was none it grew. Seed will continue to ripen within the seed pods even if collected early. I was collecting the wilted flowers but with them the young ones and that is what you are seeing. TThere was plenty of seed and it did work.

I think you would have been better of taking a clump of clovers with roots and all and planted in your field. That’s how I got purple clovers in my field (not crimson). Do you have a fallow up video.

I too just discovered that white clover is a local native plant. I hope to optimize my backyard so that it's swarming with bees, pollinating insects and other wildlife.

You need to wait for the seeds to develop, which happens once the flowers have turned brown. It is possible that you left enough stem on them that they can finish developing, but I doubt it...

Thank YOOOOU, human- for doing ALLLL of THIS, "FOR the bees"! I've been doing the same, "FOR the bees", work- (quietly, low-key & NOT "sharing, sharing & sharing" with the "net"/"social media".. as I would SURELY, have those dingbats at the "USDA Office", over my shoulder- tellin' ME, what I "CAN"/"CANT DO"- with MY lawn! Silly, silly "Humans"... YOU, CANT just "control" what goes where... "they" most def can "TRY to" "control", what goes where... ..but- GAIA, WILL make damn sure, that "THINGS", STAY "balanced"- Whether the SO-CALLED "Humans", "like" IT- or NOT! ("Opinions" & what "one" DOES/DOESN'T "like"- on THIS "matter"- unfortunately, ARE 510% IRRELEVANT! #EndOfStory!) GAIA, IS the "Boss"! NOT silly, ignorant & greedy, lil SO-CALLED "humans"! "THEY", (the SO-CALLED "humans") WILL, have to "learn"/"figure it out"- THE. "HARD. WAY." quite frankly!
