Laura Ann Branigan was an American singer, songwriter, and actress.
Her signature song, the platinum-certified 1982 single "Gloria", stayed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist, peaking at No. 2.
It also reached number one in Australia and Canada. In 1984, she reached number one in Canada and Germany with the U.S. No. 4 hit "Self Control".
Laura released 7 studio albums, had 13 Top-100 hits in the U.S. - 7 of them peaked inside the Top-40.
Laura sadly passed away in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York, on August 26, 2004
The cause was attributed to a previously undiagnosed ventricular brain aneurysm.
