Hello hello my lovely people! Here's my reaction to Children of Bodom! hope you like it! Don't forget to like this video, leave a comment and subscribe! Lots of love, Jami
Your husband needs to show you Alexi and band having fun covering Opps I did it again. It's hilarious. They have conversations in Finnish in the end so if you got subtitles available try those.
Alexi Laiho (the singer/guitarst) was really one of a kind... Children of Bodom (rightfully) were one of the biggest fish in the Melodic Deathmetal pond.
tbh I think Jari from Wintersun is similarly good (ridiculously good guitarist and songwriter, does the mixing, etc. Works very slowly though.), but of course that's a different style and mood. Alexi sure is the main reason I'm interested in playing the guitar. His music never gets old.
Remember seeing them in Budapest in 2003. I was 14,. They made me learn playing on guitar. Then shit happened and I started drinking heavily. Fast-forward 20 years and Alexi died due to his alcoholism. Then I changed again and it most probably saved my life. He's not with us anymore but he changed many people's life with his music. Thanks Alexi!
Follow the Reaper is the album from which Everytime I die was pulled and its probably one of the greatest metal album of all time. Goddamn masterpiece that one.
In high school, I loved Children of Bodom because of the vocals. In college, I loved Children of Bodom because of their guitars. Now, I love Children of Bodom because of their orchestration.
Same here from my 13 to 20 I liked the vocals.from my 20 till 30 loved the guitar( play myself) and from 30 till now how all the songs were orchestrated 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Alexi was able to do screams and growls and use certain pitches, so it's a combination of singing and growling. Lamb of God does this as well. I am here crying because Alexi was such a huge influence to me as a musician and I am drunk. I am here raising my glass to him in the afterlife and know he's out there shredding guitar and singing with the other legends we have lost along the way. Cheers!
Bodom are my favorite band of all time. Since I was 14 I've been enraptured by their unique sound and how it evolved over their 20+ decades of existence. As a teenager, I loved their blend of heavy riffs with soaring melodies with Alexi's high-wire fretboard acrobatics injected throughout. As an adult I still listen to all their music, and love every note of it. The metal community lost an icon when Alexi passed away, and I lost one of my idols. RIP Alexi, RIP Children Of Bodom. Gone, but never forgotten.
@@TheAspiringFitnessGuru compared to slow ones from the band it has less streams than angels dont kill or everytime I die.. I have listened to this band for 12 years and I live in finland so I have been watching em Live 5 times. You hardly ever see ppl talk about soon departed, ppl are always like hey check out 'hatebreeder album' for example
The earlier albums also have a lot of classical music webbed into them. The first two especially ( Something Wild and Hatebreeder). I strongly recommend watching them live because they are even better. The “Live in Stockholm” is very good.
Yes that was a fucking masterpiece. I am pretty lucky to have seen thislive show 3 or 4 days before the recording in langen, germany as my first metal concert ever. Knew the band for about a year, they turned me into a complete Metal Head this time
Awesome! Definitely listen to another track of theirs, something a bit more uptempo. Are you dead yet, Needled 24/7, Downfall... Dozens of great picks available!
Alexi was a dear friend of mine. Don't forget that he was the one who composed all the songs and he was also few times selected as best guitar player in the world. He had same demons that i'm struggling with. it's called alcohol. It's really sad that young super talented guys just die with their addictions. I also had "in my rooster" this super talented finnish rapper and he died before he even turned 21. He also struggled with these things. R.I.P for all those who have died from alcohol and drug abuse
I sincerely say thank you to our brother metalhead/your husband \m/ COB were and always would remain my teenage heroes, pushing boundaries as guitarists and keyboardists
Finally someone reacts to some COB! Yay! I've been going hard for them on several reaction channels but I think you're one of the first I've actually seen doing a reaction. Thanks and subbed! Sixpounder would be a good one to do next - killer riff!
I have two cars, personalized plates. One says LAIHO and the other says A LAIHO. RIP Alexi. Check out Morrigan by them, Trashed Lost and Strungout, as well as Alexi's last project Bodom After Midnight PAINT THE SKY WITH BLOOD...so awesome!!!! He did the video a couple weeks before he passed. Thanks for making this, that video IS one of my faves :D Look them up in 4K, not the crappy copies and when you hit CC, you might get the lyrics so you know what he is singing about 😇🤩🤗😎💝💖
never liked this genre, but this band is totally different, i even like his screaming voice. Favorite one is "Northern Comfort". This is what music is all about, just find the artist and even a style u never liked can turn into ur favorite one!
Yeah! Children Of Bodom... Beauty and Pain, Darkness and Light through that Darkness! Aleksi was and still is kinda angel - he could do amazing things and be just a guy you can just be best friends with or whatever)) He could be anybody to you - someone you need. Such a tragic in many ways person, who really knew about death, his own dying alone. Listen to his music and have a part of his light in your life, it saves lives, it's true. Hail to Alexi Laiho and his music! :)
In many of the juiciest harmonies I taste the fingerprints of Roope Latvala, playing the second guitar in CoB --- but a Finnish thrash metal veteran since mid- '80s from bands such as Stone, Latvala Bros., Waltari etc. Truly phenomenal guy too.
I've seen CoB twice. Even got a picture with Henkka! Cool dudes, very talented musicians. Alexi was the greatest guitarist of his generation. Highly recommend giving I Worship Chaos a listen. It has probably the best intro of any song I've heard
One thing that has always baffled me is the fact that Alexi was only fucking 21 on this album. (Also 20 on Hatebreeder!?!?) I mean, he wrote the lyrics, riffs and those fucking solos. I mean, the songs they made is not easy. And he was around 20????
Oh damn.... I had no idea Alexi passed away. Just looked it up. That's really sad. I still remember how down I was, when Dave Williams, one of my favourite singers, also passed way too soon.... man, that was so long ago.
Its fun to watch these kind of videos. Pop singer listening to melo death which is something that would probably under normal circumstances cross their mind to listen to. AND, they bop their head to it like its not all bad, they really have melody even if singing is incredibly hard to make out what they are saying. Saw that you havent uploaded anything in a while, I hope you are doing ok !
Well basically every well known Finnish metal bands have keyboards. 😅 Nightwish, Amorphis, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarious, and Ensiferum to name a few. I'm not saying that literally, but it's common to have keyboards in Finnish metal. 🤘
from my 14+ year old. i always loved the melodic apreach to metal from Children of Bodom, everytime we were drunk i was explaining how much i love melodic metal. people had thei Iron maiden and Metallica. i felt little outside but we all understood each other. RIP Aleksi Laiho my hero
Alexi passed away on my birthday and it was as sad day that year. His music was with me in some harsh times through my life and I still feel the emptiness since he’s gone. I am happy that I saw them live but still the predominant feel is sadness
When he died very few informstion was given about why. Recently I read that sometime before his death he told one of the band member that he plans to drink himself to death. Bare in mind its not verified. But great artists often have issues with mental health. I am from Poland and there was a very skilled genious rapper who was reching top of his career jumped out of the 9th floor of his apartment leaving a young child of his behind. Magik. Piotr Łuszcz. I am not rap fan but he was brilliant.
Give the band Death a try. They're really early death metal and have an excellent catalog to choose from. Lack of comprehension is probably their biggest hit song
Children of Bodom's band name is derived from the Lake Bodom murders. The Lake Bodom murders is one of the most infamous unsolved homicide cases in Finnish criminal history. On June 5th 1960, at Bodom Lake in Espoo, Finland. Maila Björklund and Anja Mäki (both 15) and Seppo Boisman (18) were killed by stabbing and blunt-force trauma to their heads while sleeping inside a tent. The fourth youth, Nils Gustafsson, then aged 18, was found outside the tent with broken facial bones and stab wounds. Despite extensive investigations, the perpetrator was never identified and various theories on the killer's identity have been presented over the years. Gustafsson was unexpectedly arrested on suspicion of committing the murders in 2004, but he was found not guilty the following year.
oh, fuck yeah. such a great band with a ton of great albums. love their use of synths EDIT: Also, they are called Children of Bodom, because they originated from a town on a lake called Bodom, and there were supposedly a series of murders that happened on or near the lake in the 80s, so that also what up with the reaper images on most of their albums/videos
Greetings from Helsinki, Finland! I've been listening to Children Of Bodom for roughly 24 years, and I originally got fascinated by the cover art of Hatebreeder and then with the story of Bodom. If you like murder mysteries, definitely check the story out ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Bodom_murders ). For the music, I'd recommend to try out something a bit newer from them, because all of these three songs are 15+ years old. Personally I love "This Road" and "I Worship Chaos". If you like the "Hate Crew Deathroll", then "In Your Face" might be something you like. Since you liked Angels Don't Kill, "Morrigan" might be something you like. And for the murder mystery themed songs, "Silent Night, Bodom Night" is one of their most performed songs ever. Children Of Bodom was a great live band, so I'd recommend checking some live videos too. Of the songs I mentioned, I Worship Chaos here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0wg2DM9HfB8.html might be one. Have a nice autumn :)
I remember reading an article where Alexi states that they're primarily all about the instrumental music, and that they just fool around when it comes to writing the lyrics 😂
Did see them twice live, first one was me second or third metal gig ever, first was The Rasmus (they were nobodies back then, teenage band with few singles done, before first album, Rasmus I mean) Did learn worthy lesson at their first gig, never go to metal gig with out E-A-Rs, specially if you are in front row and next to the forward speakers, me ears did ring like over two weeks and I think did manage to get some perma damage to ears... One me favourites for relaxing and and for sleeping, as to me metal works best as to those two... also, it is ok to like metal or any other music style you don't normally like or do. Variety is good, swearing ye self to just one music style is like selling ye soul to some bullshit higher ppower etc... Be free and just enjoy music in all forms...
Your video popped up in my feed, so I'll check your channel out. Just wondering, if you're still doing metal reactions, have you seen Unleash the Archers? Power metal (with some other things mixed in) from Canada. They just released a new album.
Best local band: CoB. Best Finnish band: CoB. Best European band: CoB. Best band in the world: CoB. Best band in the universe: Tough competition. We need to wait the results, but the lag is enormous.
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live at sonic pump studios) if you can handle having your mind blown. If you want the best of everything metal has to offer in one song, check it.
Alexi Is amazing. Been a fan since their first album not typically a fan of death vocals but a few I really like. Arch enemy amon Armarth in flames to note a few
If you listen to Angels Don't Kill, look at the lyrics and think of a drug addict, who is deep into the substance. Like a heroin addict for example. The lyrics gives a new kind of meaning... How easy and how loveable it shows to you, yet killing you all the time.
