I saw a really cheap toy gun recently and one of the main features of it was 'ultraviolet radiation', my first thought was either thats a missprint or i need to get the fuck out of hear, my second was, im sur ashens would appreciate this.

That's essentially what Ludum Dare is! There was actually a project on TIGsource where a bunch of small indie devs (including the guy who made Super Crate Box, smash hit of a game that is) each took a game from Action 52 and built a game from it. The SCB guy (Vlambeer I want to say?) took Non Human and made it amazing. It was essentially his take on the weird looking protagonist in that game, and turned it into a weird robot/mech with a face, and the object was to get to the end of the stage, using your small cannon type gun and various subweapons to destroy the monsters. There was another great entry based on Sombrero that was like a top down shooter sorta like Smash TV that allowed you to use bullet time based on the number of sombreros taken from dead enemies you have. The other main one was a flash game based on Streemerz that was taken from the circus theme and looked a lot more bionic commando with fantastic grappling mechanics. It's all great stuff!

I liked Chanticleer Hegemony better when I had no idea what it was. I really don't know why I was expecting anything but a clone of a preexisting game.

Now he's been betrayed by his former best bud Eddie Original, who's kidnapped Hank's girlhen Patricia and declared himself top cock. Exiled to the outskirts of the farm, it's now up to Hank to punch, kick and peck his way back up the ranks and stop Eddie Original before it's too late!" The game would be a mostly open-world action/brawler with a combat system similar to Bayonetta, except in this case, instead of Bayonetta's pistols, holding the triggers down at any time would allow you to unleash a continuous rapid-fire melee peck attack, which can be used to link and transition in and out of combos. The game would also incorporate a similar mechanic to the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, providing each player with a unique and diverse rogue's gallery of barnyard rivals.

Pop station is what made me find you, back in the day when psps just came out I heard about you through a forum I frequented. Loved your videos immediately and ever since those days so long ago I have watched you. Pop stations will never get old, I will always love and hate them.
NecroBanana What do you mean in 2010? I have been playing the game since mid 90s... and I know my parents used to play the game when they were kids (70s or so) so... I doubt a game that is at least 40 / 50 years old (and it could easily be centuries old) is going to ever stop being relevant... That is like saying that just because you don't play Hide & Seek anymore, the game is not relevant. Cultural things never stop being relevant. They stop being popular for certain people, which is a very different thing.
Someone will probably create a official Chanticleer Hegemony game for shits and giggles and make a kickstarter campaign for it. It will meet it's goal and be realeased on all the platforms. I had it at age 5. I bought it from a stall somewhere in Southern Italy. I only remember playing Street Overlord, Chanticleer Hegemony and Super Mary, which I liked (a 5-year-old child likes everything).
Hank Cyclone and Eddie Original are the mortal enemies of Chief Excellence as he attempts to turn them into chicken soap. :D But Hank Cyclone has his secret weapon; the Hank Laser which he plans to turn Chief Excellence into a burning corpse.
Tbh, this is the first POP Station video, where I feel like the maker actually did some effort to make the POP Station (not a lot, but more than the others). There are actually a couple of pretty substantial differences in the games, as far as that's possible with games as simple as these. Also, maybe I've just watched too much of these videos, but I understood most of the instructions of Super Mary/Merio. :P

I saw a grandpa a couple of years ago in the hospital cafetaria, i had an operation on my leg and i had a visiter, and this grandpa played 3 hours non stop on his pop station, i do not know what "game" he was playing, but he wouldn't stop playing! Amazing how somebody can play this thing for hours on end!
Somewhere in mainland China, some poor underpaid factory worker has been making these things six days a week for the past 30 years at the Popstation plant.
Distorted Ward And the whole time, he'll be complaining about how much the 3DS or Vita costs and how many Pop Stations he could've bought for that price. He'll hate the price so much that he'll play whatever games he receives for just the few seconds that Ashens plays Pop Station games for before feeling too revolted to go further. The comments for the video will consist of people wondering who, in their right mind, would spend that many thousands of yuan (however much they cost in China, I don't know) on a video game system that then charges you even more if you want games for it.

I have always wondered about these popstation lcd games. It might not look like it today, with our supercomputers with photorealistic graphics, but in the 80's there actually were lcd games of that type that were actually quite good and well made. Sure, the technology limited what kind of game you could implement quite a lot, but many manufacturers nevertheless worked around those limitations to produce surprisingly well-made and addictive games. In other words, my point is that these popstation games being utter crap is not really a limitation of the technology, but of work and talent. It _is_ possible to make relatively good games using this technology. These popstation games, however, are absolutely horrendous even considering the technology.
In the soviet block there was a lcd game - for the love of God I can't remember how it was called since everybody jist called it 'ruskie jajka' (Russian eggs). You controlled a wolf from a popular Russian cartoon who was in a henhouse trying to catch falling egs onto a basket. It was addicting as fuck.

It seems like it was a clone of Nintendo's "Egg" for Game & Watch from 1981. There's an Android app that is inspired by the Nu Pogodi version. The app is called "Wolf & Chicken Coop".

Back when I used to live in Arizona, there was a supermarket that had an in-store sushi bar. They made a pretty wicked Dragon Roll, which was basically a whole line of sushi in a green dragon wrapping. I never actually bought one, but it looked pretty damn good.

***** Actually the educational system in China ironically renders the opposite scenario. Many have a decent sense of grammar and written English but have committed little time to oral English. I'm not sure why this kind of thing is so commonplace.

I think the worst part of Super Mary is that they tried to recreate the underground theme from Super Mario Bros., but they had no idea what they were doing and when they got to the parts they didn't know, they just flailed on the keyboard and said "I think that's good enough."
MrAtomicBrownie Heh, if they actually used a keyboard. Those sounds are created by what's known as PWM, aka different frequency tunes. They had to pick random values for each tune, and this is the result.
