my my dad side of the family was born and raised in asheville and knew him. my uncle used to run moonshine way back in the day. my dad was the youngest of 6 and he was born in 1950. i just heard many stories about popcorn and all. in the end there....i think they should have just let that man be. he was doing nothing to others and was a nice old man ......but noooo the government wasnt getting any money on his private stash so they kept shutting him down till he just couldnt take it anymore to live how he wanted and to live happy and free.

Both my Grandfathers made white liquor at some point in their lives, one lived in Fannin Co. GA, the other in Gilmer Co. GA, and neither would make the cheap, what was called selling stuff!

you dont wanna go looking for the illegal moonshiners in the mountains...trust me. let them be. you can however find legal stuff in various places. it was only illegal because the government wasnt getting money for it and it wasnt really regulated. smokey mountain moonshine is legal stuff you can get and its really good. they have like 12 flavors.

Who is one man to tell another man that he can't make and sell his own shine without taking a share of his profits? According to the Constitution a real law is no harm to another person or their property or no stealing their property. And one man saying to another man that you have to give me some of your Profits, to which I had no part of helping you make, is the real person committing a crime.
What's really sad is the government rules. And I think they make the laws as they go on. Some States is outlawed for catching rain water I heard,really how ubsurd is that.. ridiculous.. It's ok for them, not a common person to make money... What because they want slave labor

He may have known how to make moonshine but he was uncouth ignorant man I met him once and he was drunk and vulgar but so are a lot of other people back in his time in the rural Appalachian Mountains but I give them credit for knowing how to survive but you wouldn't want your family or your wife around these type of people didn't know how to control their mouth that ignorant vulgarity would come out every other word
