I don't often write comments directly to channels but you mentioned something about Poppy and black metal and just now I again came across this video of her with her favourite albums: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zOzsteNBYNU.html Craft is a band mentioned so she just might accept if you reach out to her. She does love her collabs and trying new genres.
We can't expect them to add her as a permanent member but I think it's totally in line for us to ask for a " Popped Loose " EP with both of them going hard as fuck. Their synergy is just too fucking good .
I can only agree, they give off such pissed off little sister and big brother vibes, that ending with them together slaps so damn hard It's unlikely we will get an EP with them as far as Bryan said in the interview with Nik, but this hopefully won't be their only feature together
this! a 15-20 min ep with her is all i want. especially because she also does weird stuff and production so that could maybe be also a part of it, not just singing. i would be absolutely down for it.
THAT Poppy scream is legitimately one of the top 5 best I've ever heard in 20 years of listening to heavy music. Shit gave me chills the first time I heard it.
Brian said in an interview with Nik Nocturnal that they’ve been joking about doing a reggaeton breakdown for a while and they decided this song was the time to drop it.
Pop fans talk all the time about artists they feel are “pushing the boundaries” but I think none of them truly experiment and go beyond their comfort zones like poppy. And it sounds good. She literally always sounds good.
I've seen a handful of reactions to this song and everyone's reaction to Poppy's scream after the reggaeton breakdown is gold. It's such a good scream.
She has come so far with her screams, it's so impressive. She used to not be able to do them live, but every time I see her, I can HEAR all her growth 🖤
@@deceiver8646 I found out she was in Atlanta one night a couple years ago. I found out at 5:00 PM that day and drove two hours to see her. I bought the ticket on the drive. So worth it.
As a fellow old, this band has me so fucking excited for the younger generation. This is the band that kids are going to emulate 10 years from now and I am here for it.
You should really listen to some of Poppys other metal. It's amazing (and often very weird). She did a great cover of "Spit" by Kittie, and her songs like "Flux", "Her" and "Say Cheese" I really like. Some of her older metal she doesn't scream (that much) and it's way weirder.
Her song with Bad Omens was pretty sick! She's based off a character a sketchy dude made up and already had a girl portraying the character then got into stuff with her then Poppy took the character over so that kind of made her not as appealing but she's a cool chick!
What's hilarious is that on his episode of hardlore, Isaac said that he can't stand reggaeton specifically bc they use that beat in every single song, and then they drop this the very next album cycle
The way they incorporate the “Cumbia” rhythm is so good. The build up the the breakdown previews the groove. Then the breakdown hits fully. The post breakdown keeps the rhythm but instead of multiple notes, it’s a single chuggier version. And then they transition to the end of the song back to a more hardcore style rhythm. This is why knocked loose are so great - they’re heavy and they’re angry, AND they’re great songwriters!
I was a doubter years ago 😅 just couldn't get into Brian's vocals. A tear in the fabric of life changed that, now I'm a huge fan, even the stuff I didn't care for before. I'm just a big fan now.
@@zachsumner1635 Saying she stole from Mars Argo makes no sense. Argo worked with Titanic. Then Poppy worked with him when Argo left. Like duh of course there’s gonna be similarities. That’s like saying someone joined a band and stole that band sound, duh, it’s the same band. Of course it’s gonna be similar. And whatever persona Argo had going was different from Poppy’s. Or different enough at least. Because Poppy did it way better. I don’t even have anything against Argo, but it’s true.
@@HeyIntegrity Okay? Most people can’t even scream like that, she can and she pulled it off. Ive seen her scream improve and get better over the years. It’s been a journey and she’s clearly improved. I’d like to see you do better? Maybe not impressive to you, but judging by the mostly positive reception, most people realize she’s come a long way, and those who don’t know her are digging it. But yes, please impress me with your superior screams
Poppy did a song with HEALTH that has some more atmospheric screaming in it. It's mostly soft, haunting clean vocals, but the bridge has her doing screams that are longer and more sorrowful than what she's doing here and it's pushed a bit further back in the mix. I think it's great and could really go for a lot more of it. I'd really like to hear Knocked Loose collab with some more female hardcore/metalcore vocalists because the two occasions they've done it (this and A Serpent's Touch w/ Emma from Dying Wish) have been stellar. There's just a slight difference in male and female vocals, even when doing the same style, that makes for great contrast.
Health introduce me to Poppy and Im a big fan of her since than. Dead Flowers always my most favourite song featuring Poppy, the scream man, thats is so damn good.
Everyone seems to put "vocal analysis" next to their reactions nowadays, but your analysis is second to none, so interesting! So good, I learned so many things! Loved it! Keep it up!
Its definitely reggeton. Bryan has spoke about it. It was the goal. The song is dope. Favorite KL song so far. Oh, if she legit joined the band. It would be epic.
Poppy is such a bizarre but intriguing person. She does do a fair amount of screaming in her solo stuff which might be a fun wormhole to go down…try X or Spit. Incidentally, that was my exact experience with Knocked Loose lol. Obsessed now
I love that you hear the bunta beat (reggaetón) earlier in the song for a bit when Byran and Poppy are singing together but then it becomes more prominent in the breakdown.
Me: holy shit! This is the guy in Kardashev? Instant subscribe. Dude, I do a vocal cover of "Compost Grave-Song" frequently on my drive to work. Huge fan.
Dawg you gotta listen to some more Poppy if nothing else just in your free time. She's been doing metal for like 5 years now, granted not all with screaming. But yeah she's awesome:)
I LOVED this song! Their voices complement each other so well! I've been a fan of Poppy for years, and she's been doing more metal and screaming for some time now. I highly recommend you listen or react to more of her stuff, to start I would recommend the song "Say Cheese", from her 2021 EP "EAT", it's one of her heaviest. Greetings from Brazil!
ok so I am a first time viewer, and you drop the ABSOLUTE BOMB on me that you're the vocalist for Kardashev?! Liminal Rite is one of the most underrated albums of the 2020's in general for me. I am so glad you are enjoying Knocked Loose, Suffocate is leading to be my favorite song of the year!
Honestly "I Disagree" was one of my favorite Metal/Hard Rock Albums from 2020, and it was by Poppy, a bit weird and not perfect, but a lot of fun non the less
I keep coming back to your reaction on this because I enjoy it sooo much. Poppy is killing it! Since you totally get her (her old stuff), I think you'll dig her doing Kittie's Spit too. In my opinion, it's better than the original. Enjoy & have a great week!
Oh my Gosh... That Poppy's scream sounds like a witch in the middle of the Forest chasing you. 11:37 Her scream gives to you the necessary power to lift heavy weight in bench press.
I'm no musician, but as a music nerd I found this delightful. Your talk about mastery of technique and jaw tension reminds me of masterful drummers explaining how relaxed the most intense players tend to be
HAHA im from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and when i heard that breakdown i went craazy had ur same reaction just started to “perriar” with confusion and a face like it smelled like my work boots it was hard tho worked so welll🔥🔥 and then they downed the tempo to the same beat but reversed 🤢🤢🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 loved it and loved seeing u dancing! HAHA❤
I have "Holy Roller" Vibes on that with a diffrent Theme and crushed in U´r face from Twins shouting out about experience with false PPL. As Drummer I wonder why nobody get the change from the Snare after Poppy`s "Suffocate" into "Metalic" sound........ I love that so hard!
I gotta start with a “thank you” to Poppy, who has 3M subs on RU-vid music compared to knocked loose with barely 30K. She may have just put KL on the radar of a bunch of people who’s didn’t know the band existed. Great song, I like the steady fast paced stuff better, but really good. Most anticipated album after Benighted.
@setoburu Lol "a bunch of nobodies" I can guarantee you most Knocked Loose fans feel the same way about Poppy. I've never heard of her before this song. You act like she's some huge figure. Her screams are trash too. So many more talented female metal vocalists out there than whatever that garbage was.
Lmfao couldn't stop laughing at your confused dancing on the breakdown. Great laugh to start the morning thanks. Also 100% agreed with you on Hereditary. One of the best horror films ever made, the acting in it is phenomenal.
Man love this video. The way u bring such joy in something thats really difficult for many people to approach is unique. Hope one day i’ll be able to get as many lessons it’s take with u.
You're the only one I've seen pick up that small whine at the end of Poppy's longer sustained scream. I heard it on the first listen and was like, "ffffffffffuh....😮". You got a new subscriber my dude. 👍👍
your reaction is great haha I guess the reggae didnt catch me off guard because im so used to poppy doing weird ass things in her music. (been a fan since 2016)
that technique you mentioned around 16:30 where she drops the grittiness off at the end of a scream is really neat, and the singer for Silent Planet does it a LOT.
Yeah Garrett is an absolute master of blending in the whimper of his voice with his frys, his ability to add and remove distortion at will is masterful. Brian from Currents does it a lot too but with a false chord/hybrid technique.
Aw, the shout out to the Elotes man. Glad you experienced some latin flavor in both music and food in your life. That was definitely a reggaeton beat. 🙌
KL have been so surprisingly consistent. They will be remembered. And I knew Poppy was down with heavier stuff...but KL?? And she went all in. So good.
i love your comments about Poppy. people keep saying she lip syncs at live shows but clearly she is a great singer. she has a signature scream now. at the very end she does a whine or something like that i love it.
IF you want to hear her metal listen to her I DISAGREE album, her EAT EP and last but not least her SPIT cover. She can do nice pop music too surprisingly! but her metal is where its at!
