I will personally never understand why anybody has an issue if the style of a song sounds like a style from another band. There’s only so much you can do for one. There’s always going to be bands doing styles that are similar to other bands styles no matter what. Now it’s another thing if someone completely rips off a song but that’s not what this is. Considering Poppy has a very different and interesting background, I think that’s why this style works for her no matter how “cookie cutter” it is. Plus I think the main focus for this is on her vocals now that she’s full on doing screams. I love the song, I love what she’s doing and I can’t wait to hear more bangers from her. Metal Poppy is killing it 🤘🏻

she's been making cool alternative metal tracks that sound like nothing else since 2018. hearing her do stuff that's a bit generic is very rare and fun to me as a Poppy fan. if you want something innovative listen to her 2020 album "I Disagree".

Not an innovative song, but I personally just really really enjoyed it from start to finish. More captivating for me than the previous. I think this song fuckin’ rocks despite the lack of pushing genres forward etc. Better on repeat listens for me too.

Bro is a old boomer that can't find the simple pleasure of listening to a new song because he's to busy being upset it's not the best and most innovative song he's ever heard. Nah shit, it's poppy doing metal. She's not currents bro. Doesn't mean it isn't good. And I don't understand the constant comparisons to other bands either. A lot of shit sounds the same because it's the sound people want and like to hear. I get your critiquing but so many videos you do, you almost never enjoy it for just what it is because your comparing to so many different things. I'm not hating genuinely it's just sad how underwhelmed you are with so many things you listen to.

I think its ok You have that opinion, For me its a 10, She goes with any genre and shes one of the only ones who can make it work, And dare I say its very good, even like others like All shall perish or Here comes the kraken. Shes definitely growing and growing. Shes honestly one of the best we have in music in general. Shes one of the few who will work with any and all genres if the music calls for it. As for the sounding, Maybe Jordan Fish had more olay in it because she usually does her own traits.

I enjoyed it. As an old metalcore guy, I've been slowly gravitating towards more music with women on vocals. I think with modern metalcore, the clean/heavy contrast is a fresher take, than say the Bleeding Through or All That Remains cleans/heavy. Is it formulaic, perhaps. But I dig it as a "jaded old man."

Up until now, Poppy has been an ORIGINAL in a sea of "sameness". And what did it get her? Certainly no charting singles or albums. And despite how unique her I disagree album, EAT NXT EP, etc were, Poppy would get railed on by the normies for being a wierdo. So she hooks up with Jordan Fish, Who honestly only does one thing well... "paint by numbers metalcore". And it SELLS! And now y'all are giving Poppy shit for "conforming"? She seriously can not win with some of you. Let's not forget Poppy also gets extra scrutiny because of her "that poppy" persona from her youtube days. Courtney laplante gets a pass because she's just a semi boring nice girl who never did anything to "stand out", personality wise. Again, Poppy can't win.

Inviting people into the metalcore space is always the answer, trying to measure how much credit, props, whatever is ridiculous. That's why people that experiment with the sound, or get on some features are massively greeted with open arms. Stop treating every single and album like you're a paid movie critic and just enjoy the damn music. Also fix your mic settings

Coming from a metalhead perspective... it's simple. Coming from a Poppy fan perspective... it's different and new. It's the heaviest song she's ever done, but it's also as generic as her music gets. This song is missing the uniqueness of her metal/pop songs on the I Disagree album. But I'm viewing this as Poppy being someone that came from the pop world and just did her first full metalcore song... and it was a solid effort. However, I do expect more creativity from her songs going forward especially if she decides to stick with this genre and will have lots of talent around her to live up to. But for a first pass... this is not bad at all.

Like I could here this being a Courtney song just deeper screams cause they both hit the super clean highs

I'm new to this channel and i really like your thought at the end, even though i kinda liked the poppy track, which doesn't mean you are wrong. The "metal reaction" scene is filled with toxic positivity, It's very easy to be the "I agree/like everything guy" (and very lucrative too). Unfortunately on the metal reaction scene you can't have a different opinion without being labeled as a hater, as someone that didn't like the last sleep token album i couldn't have an opinion on it without the "It's not for you", "why are you hating on..." or "you just don't like genre blending", that last one pisses me off a lot because my taste in music is genre blending for the most part lol, so it's great to for once not see rage bait or fake overreaction.

Wtf 😂Architects ??? THEY SOUND WAY Waaaaay soft any last released made by them could beat or equal her sound and specifically this song. Just an advice if you gonna criticize a song make it properly not the comparation to other band sounds cause you add nothing to the conversation plus it’s a very derivative way to try to make a point on your opinion 😂

she is still learning this genre, and how versatile it is, so i would not rate her work based on that. It is like a baby takes steps. She also has to take into consideration the fact that her listeners are coming from another genre too. She has to balance on that line, what can be joyful to both sides. Also, i back the opinion that it is not a problem if something is similar to other things. It is called a trend for a reason. Like nowadays we get blegh everywhere, and earlier it was not so common. Yeah, Babymetal and some other bands who play in this mixed genre style started to break walls in the old scene of the metal era, but it is good for the music, it refreshes it. Just look at Tool, for example, their work inspired so many technical and progressive bands that you cannot even count. It is not a shame to make a style of another band yours, until you give your own twist to it. There are million of songs, it is really hard to make something 100% new these days.

Do yourself a favour and be the first to post a reaction on the upcoming band Elision's new track called 'Nostalgia'. They make - as described by themselves - 'thall-infused schizo-rock' , and together with Into The Vein and Allt they are the top upcoming bands with this sound right now.

I think the song is good. It not innovative, but its another brick in this trend of pop reaching into metal and giving it some spotlight. It's starting to spread a bit and im excited.
