Already been playing in my truck for a week. My gf and I can’t wait to have a front porch so we can leave the light on. Thank you for making my evenings great with your tunes.
Where’s all my traveling journeyman with familys who are listening to this. I know y’all feel this song and a like. We build this country on our backs and regrets.
That little kiddo makes my whole entire heart and soul ache, something about being a Dad just changes you and makes you realize what really matters in life, kids are the most beautiful gifts. Great song!
Been a traveling pipe welder since I got out of high school. Ain’t been home since august. Was probably home a total of 45 days last year. This song hits deep
The other half of what you're saying. My husband travels for work. This song hits so hard 😢 I love you David Mount. The boys and I miss you. I'll be waiting at home with the porch light on. Wouldn't have it any other way.
My family has the harmonica instilled in there genes, I had my son 1month ago and he loves listening to this song as he falls asleep to it every time , thanks Josh meloy , keep rocking on my man!
Love this song. My buddy asked me to learn it. I usually just listen all the way through it and decide if I want to put in the effort. This one hit me quick, I had to restart it after the first chorus because I needed to make sure I got the whole story. Some great lyrics in there. “One more show and it’s a shitty door deal” that is freakin perfect and probably speaks to anyone who has tried to make a living playing music.
Been a traveling carpenter ever since I was a kid. I becoming a old man and about to take myself off the road. Great song.... 🎵 🎶 🎵 My wife always leaves the porch lights on....

Lyrics: Drivin' through the night, tryna keep my eyes open Generator's busted and the A/C's broken Talkin' to the Lord, hope He helps us get there safe And we made it to the show, now we're singin' to the crowd And play an encore and they're screamin' real loud Try to get home early, but I know that ain't the case Yeah, it's another hotel room, sleepin' on the floor I'm hurtin' in the mornin' from the night before Paid my dues, I'm leadin' up the road I'm comin' home, baby, leave the porch light on Breakfast in the morning from seven to nine But we just can't seem to wake up in time Grab a cup of coffee and we're off to hit the road Now we're runnin' on fumes, no time to kill We got one more show and it's a shitty door deal Breakin' my back just to make a couple bones Yeah, it's another hotel room, sleepin' on the floor I'm hurtin' in the mornin' from the night before Paid my dues, I'm leadin' up the road I'm comin' home, baby, leave the porch light on Yeah, it's another hotel room, sleepin' on the floor I'm hurtin' in the mornin' from the night before Paid my dues, I'm leadin' up the road I'm comin' home, baby, leave the porch light on Yeah, it's another hotel room, sleepin' on the floor I'm hurtin' in the mornin' from the night before Paid my dues, I'm leadin' up the road I'm comin' home, baby, leave the porch light on
As a photographer that takes pictures for bands, this song hits close to the heart. I miss being on the road with the band I am touring with. I remember some night we load up on a Thursday night/Friday morning and head to the next gig or festival. Man I wanna go back and do it
Found out 6/1 my wife was having an affair. I’m 41, we’ve been together for 21 years. Married for 16. My heart is still broken to pieces, thank you sir for making a song that makes me feel good
This song hits me different than any other farming 4 thousand acres spring and fall I leave the house when everyone is asleep and get home after everyone went to bed don’t get to see any family unless they bring food or something to field sometimes towards end of season ground ready to freeze I catch a couple hours sleep in my truck and right back at it

One of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life, and I’ve yet to get someone on Broadway that knows and can play it. @joshmeloy when you coming to Nashville?
