No band understands or expresses feel like this one. A long overdue cover, this is "Anesthetize" by Porcupine Tree, from their incredible album "Fear of a Blank Planet".
This is my first cover after the installation of new Seymour Duncan pickups, and they sound incredible. Feedback welcome.

You don't need the solo to own the best cover of Anesthetize on youtube. This is fantastic, all the parts played are really great and you have an superb rythym and speed. And that tone is amazing! Wonderful job man! I wish i could play this like you, what you did was not easy!

The more I listen to this beautiful phenomenon, the more I appreciate its complexity and attention to detail. I noticed many intricate but minute parts, which are easy to ignore in the original. Good man, great cover. Hats off.

good rythm cover! just a tip to help you with your tuning loss as you played... you need to stretch your strings out overnight, up to a day . there are several methods in doing this. 1 I prefer is to tune guitar a half to whole step up above normal "E" tuning depending on the gauge used. the heavier the gauge the higher you go. The strings will be sufficient in a day of stretching, and will stay in tune better for guitars without stock locks. also check your tuning pegs each time you change strings to be sufficiently tight enough to keep from giving in to playing on the guitar. Have at least 3 winds of string on each peg. this I learned from being a touring guitarist for 25 years. I hope this helps, and keep up your good playing, it sounds good to me....

Another method is to stretch your strings right away grabing them one by one and pulling it, retuning, and repeating until you don´t lose tuning anymore after a strecth, taking care to not break it, especially the E and B (1,2). This way you´ll have your strings ready to go immediately. I´ve learned this 20 years ago from the master Eddie Van Halen.

I usually just bend my strings really hard. Starting at the 19th fret, then going down about 5 frets at a time. Helps a lot.

@@RennerGutierre I'd learned to give my strings a stretch after re-stringing my guitar and also saw the great Allan Holdsworth do this in the intro to his phenomenal live in Tokyo (1984) concert, but had never given much thought as to why we did it. That definitely makes sense!

Crooken Thanks a lot! If you like this kind of music from PT, it would be a great idea to listen to their stuff from "In Absentia" all the way to "Fear of a Blank Planet". Their last album was heavier than their early stuff but not very "metal" so to day. The Incident Disc 2 might appeal to you though. Cheers!

Crooken here are some "heavy" songs of them -The Blind House -Deadwing -What happens now?(this one is totally a masterpiece) -Nil recurring (an instrumental one) -Cheating the polygraph -Futile -Shallow (kinda like the title though, "shallow" compared to other pt songs haha, but still a fun one to listen to) -Circle of Manias (this is the last instrumental song of a "trilogy" though) -Hatesong -Strip the Soul -Blackest eyes (kinda...) And as told, fear of a blank planet would satisfy you. I love every album they made but since you asked for heavy ones, these are what you are looking for.

Sweet cover! You have a good sense of rhythm. Would love to hear you play some clean Opeth stuff (Windowpane?) on those SH-10's, I've been wondering whether to get my hands on them myself but I couldn't find any good demos.

lordgraga Thanks a lot! Yes, I have to do a song from Damnation (Windopane is a favorite) but I have to learn fingerpicking first! :) I will be putting up a cover of "Wreath" in about two weeks because the SH-10s are really versatile for any style. Cheers!

Windowpane can be done from start to end with a pick, at least that's what I do. The only really difficult part is the verse because of stretching and the picking pattern across 5 (or even 6) strings. It takes a while to get used to, but I am sure you could! Otherwise, if you want to get started with Damnation you could always do the lead on Ending Credits :-)

Thanks a lot! Normally Native Instruments make a midi pedal called Rig Kontrol that can be used to switch between presets. I didn’t use it since i had two tones designed for the song, and there was time to just switch between them during the song by clicking on the interface. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I’ll let you be the judge of its difficulty. Plus, the solo is in standard tuning and the rest of the song is in drop C.

The solo isn't that hard. But yes it does require some skills. Also you can easily play solos in drop C that were tabbed for standard tuning. so it really isn't an excuse.

dude great job really despite the fact that your guitar was a bit out of tune...but how come a prs with seymour duncan pickups sound so bad when you go overdrive, You might wanna consider upgrading your amp sir!

Thank you Walt. There’s no amp, it’s a preset on Guitar Rig 5 that has since been upgraded.
