Porsche 1979 911SC Engine Teardown

In our first video, we took a look at the engine before tearing it down. In this video, we take it to the engine case. What was interesting was the side that was not broken had its own set of problems.
Next up will be more cleaning and inspection. We jumped ahead a little bit with this engine as keeping to a budget on the engine meant we had to know which parts are reusable or not.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, commenting, and liking.
See you on the next one

Thank you for this video, as well as for all the other "blockbusters" here on the channel. I very much hope that the algorithm finally ensures that even more "likes" and "subscribers" come! Many thanks and greetings from Stuttgart!

@@klassikats I was a kid. Around 1980 I bought a non-running 1972 911e with Sportomatic (no rust, power windows!) When I got it running the knock in the engine warned me to go no further. I took it apart and learned that pieces of the torque converter broke off and circulated through the engine, ruining every major part. The cams had groves around 1.5mm deep. The crank, cams, oil pump…everything ruined! I sold it for what I paid and considered myself lucky. Love watching your videos. Thx

19:34 What builder wouldn't feel the binding on the cam when re-installing it. That kinda thing feels like a "slap it together" job, and it really sucks for the current owner. 2 seconds to spin a cam when assembling could have saved thousands of $$$

I agree, whom ever assembled this should have seen/felt the issue and resolved before proceeding. Kurt

i have a lot of questions, but i ll just ask one. any idea why the rocker arm broke? thnx again for another great vid. from terry in cabo
@klassikats
@klassikats 4 месяца назад
I answer this in the video. But here it is again, I suspect that when the exhaust rocker fell out there would still be combustion pressure in the cylinder. Because the intake valve opens when the piston is at TDC the pressure would be 9 times greater than it would when the exhaust valves opens. This pressure would hold the intake valve shut and the rocker was the weak link in the system and it broke when the valve would not open. Kurt

A VW has over 100 potential places to leak. How many on a 911?
