Thank you!! Yep this will be going on air ride!! There isn’t an off the shelf kit for early 911s so this will have a full custom set up on it. Maybe the only SWB Porsche on air in the country? And only a handful in the world!

So many custom and intricate pieces repaired on this car by now - I almost thought you were about to fashion up a new steering column bracket too! 😂 Any chance of doing a more in depth video on your tips/tricks on welding in new replacement panels? You seem to smash through stuff that would take some people weeks! Oh and admirable work as per! 👏

For me personally this was a video iv been waiting for for ages!- because iv got to do exactly this!- replace the floor and the tunnel (I was going to try and save my tunnel but it’s bad!- and I saw design 911 have new tunnels in stock now so I think it’ll be more cost effective labour wise to buy new) … the only mistake iv made is to buy the floor pan separately from the front pan/tank area 🙄🙄 (hindsight n all that) which I think is going to make it a lot more difficult ! (Catch 22 )

Funny enough, like you, I was going to repair the tunnel, but when I saw the price of a new one it was a no brainer! If you’re using a kid the two floor sections shouldn’t take too much longer.

Can't you buy an air driven punch to perforate the panels for plug welding? Great work, very real progress, hard work too! Never knew the chassis number was in the rear trans tunnel.

You can! I’ve got two and killed both of them. And a hand punch 😂 sometimes the old way is the best way!! Thanks, it’s been really enjoyable but like you say, hard work! That spot welder is very heavy and I dread to imagine how many spot welds it’s done so far on this car lol. The tunnel is a weird one, so I stamped the number in as I replicated the old tunnel but Steve at Jaz Porsche said the same thing about it seeing a number on the tunnel before. Need to do some research into it - seems odd!

Thank you! It’s not far off, funnily enough we started on an E type that was slightly worse than this car and it was more economical to buy another shell!! Type 4 is a possibility, or maybe type 1! Customer still undecided but you get more bang for your buck with type 1!

Could the tunnel have been panel bonded in or is it not good enough structurally or is your brief to rebuild as it was built or something else? 😊

Potentially, I know there are a lot of modern products that are used in accident repair of modern cars but I prefer old techniques on old cars myself
