Coolant water pump is defective on the Porsche 911 997 2005. The water pump is leaking, it needs a replacement. The bearing and seal failed. Need to remove air filter housing, belt, Loosen the engine support, drain the cooling system, refill the cooling system.
We have monitored the coolant temp with the Bluedriver to make sure it was not overheating.
The previous install they have use RTV sealant and it looks like it clogged the heater core. We will do a coolant flush later hoping it will fix the heating problem. The bolt and housing were full of this RTV Sealant. We have cleaned everything.

Thanks for posting the video - it was very helpful as I replaced the water pump in my 2006 997. It's a very tight space. On to the next project...

I also have a 2005 997 but its a coupe. I do the odd bit of work on it so when I saw the angle grinder come out I thought you were serious and it scared the shit out of me!

Great video. But if you’re going to flush your system you’re better off with distilled water. Also use the Porsche coolant.
@MassProject
@MassProject Год назад
Yes, I do have distilled water for it. Using Zerex G-40 coolant.

if you loosen the both side rear engine mounting bottom nuts a little, then the mounting plate can move back much easier.

Great job! Wouldn’t it be helpful to loosen the two engine mounts up top and lower the engine few cm?

very nice video... well done, especially given how tight some of those spaces were. Curious, what was the total 'actual' time for job?
@MassProject

Without filming would say around 4-5 hours. Had a hard time with the exhaust bolt.

Great video, but wouldn't it be easier if you removed the pipes?
@MassProject
@MassProject 2 года назад
All exhaust bolts were rusted and seized. Didn’t want to break any in the flange.
@JoshLoberant
@JoshLoberant 2 года назад
@@MassProject if removing them was possible, how much easier would the job become?
@MassProject
@MassProject 2 года назад
@@JoshLoberant not much. The only location it was in the way it was for the rear support nuts and we manage with a wrench instead of a socket. The little extra time was less than the time to remove the pipes. Have a look at our latest video. We are removing the engine out of the Camaro Z28 to upgrade the powertrain.

WHY U DIDNT CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT WHILE U WERE THERE BELOW?
@MassProject

Yes should have done at the same time but didn’t have it at the time of changing the pump. Will do a full coolant flush in spring and will change it.

The video is excellent. But the music if you could call it that I'd dreadful. I really dont know why people use computer Generated crap. So repetitive..sorry my friend.. it really did spoil the video.. I really don't mean to be rude.. I'd rather it was left out
