It needs mudflaps to stop all the dirt on the rear quarters.

Testament to the importance of small details. Omission or fracture of this small scupper tray has likely caused grief for many 924 owners. Great Vid 🍻

I've got my 924 just after you did. I learn a lot watching these video's, thanks! Also in the process of fixing the unintended water ingest in the back. So far I've replaced the hatch seal, hatch lock seal and refitted the rear lights with RTV. The rear drains from the targa roof and the fuel filler drain also end up in the lower spaces left and right of the trunk. I suppose Porsche designed the 924 with some holes in the back.. There is no overpressure vent anywhere, and air which enters the cabin has to go somewhere, so they must have thought not to seal it up that much. The Internet also mentions exhaust fumes being sucked in when a window or the roof is opened up. Maybe that is why my new blower motor is running even when it's set to off, to always get some fresh air in?

Awesome video! My 924 is mostly under cover however when left in rain recently boot filled up with water. Just went and checked the boot latch drains and both side were disconnected (actually found the hoses in the sill wells!) Refitted and I’m sure it will be fine now!!

You could have something 3d printed for that missing plastic part.

For the exhaust fumes, look at latch pins on the glass side… If I remember well, you should be able to adjust the seal preload by screwing them in to compensate the latch mechanical wear. On my 81 it solved the problem…. sold this car in 95.
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 2 дня назад
Yea they are adjustable... but they are already quite tight...

I've been struggling with the same hatch leaks in my 924. After replacing every seal/gasket/grommet, cleaning the drip trays and hoses, it ended up being the seal between the glass and the aluminium hatch frame. Looking online the deterioration of this seal seems to be inevitable on every 924/944. People more competent than myself have separated these and resealed them, but as I didn't have a garage I tried to patch it up with windscreen sealant on the front and back which so far has worked. Hope you don't have this issue as it's not fun to fix!

Good job. Envious of this car.

Exhaust fumes in the cabin are a common problem on the 924, typically if you drive with window open. Can be multiple things like, poor sealing round gear lever, unsealed holes in the rear panel, poorly sealing rear light clusters and often the rear hatch seal. Even with a new hatch seal don't rule that out, it may not be compressing evenly. The best troubleshooting method is using a smoke bomb and seeing were that escapes from. Good luck!

Or just the car being old enough... Leaks and odour (and dirt) control it becomes just basic maintenance (usually forgotten by owners and mechanics).

In the UK you can register your Porsche on the Porsche Classic Register at your local main dealer. You get some nice free stuff as well as discounted parts which are often cheaper than the aftermarket suppliers. I’m not sure if the same applies in Denmark?

The rear hub and bearing cover looks very like that of a Beetle. The car shows its roots... I wonder how easily those drain pipes get blocked up by dirt over time? Are boot leaks a big 924 issue?

How easy it to replace rear wheel bearing on a Porche 924 l have seen in other cars were you need a press obviously when they designed the Porche 924 to make changing the rear wheel bearings

Are Porsche videos in chronological order? How it cames this side and paint is not shinny (fast polished like tw or 3 videos ago), drums are already rusty, when they were put new...
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage 2 дня назад
Yep... most of the videos are released some day as the work was done... or the day after. The polishing was not done very great, or I did not protect it well enough... its started to fade fast again.. going to redo that. The drums will rust in days in my parts... so much moisture here....
@InternetListener
@InternetListener 3 дня назад
Why would you care about fixing mechanical problems when you could easily get more views by polishing fadded yellow paint? Wash it with foam and manually like there were no Automatic Car Washing Tunnel machines and call it a day.
@Ivorbiggin
@Ivorbiggin 3 дня назад
Each to their own…….polishing paint would be in my opinion boring
@InternetListener
@InternetListener 3 дня назад
@@Ivorbiggin mono-component yellow and red tones just turn so much better than any other paint... The less boring polishing of them all... Remove the sunburnt layer and shine... On camera or in reality just makes more difference than any other mechanical repair, as much as we could like them... It was sarcasm, though...
