Decided to upgrade the stock exhaust on my ‘99 Porsche Boxster 986, to a Fabspeed Maxflo Exhaust system, with stainless steel header upgrade as well. I can can say without a doubt, the results are simply AMAZING! Watch the video, for before and after revs, and driving clips. Also please like the video, if you agree that the new exhaust sound, matches the sleek styling, of this soon to be classic Porsche! Thanks! 👍🏻

Wow, what an amazing improvement! Looking at this for my 2.7. I feel like stock at low RPM it sounds a bit too tame but with that exhaust it sounds just right.

The amount of enjoyment I get, when I drive this car now is ridiculous. It. Sounds. So. AWESOME!

Sounds good,I cant see myself spending that much on exhaust though. On another note,I haven’t seen Dyno wheels on another boxster besides mine.They look good. Did you put spacers on?
@cbsgarage2274
@cbsgarage2274 Год назад
Yes, I added spacers front (20 mm) and rear (15 mm). It was not the least expensive option (and not the most expensive), but the end result is exactly what I was looking for….so it was money well spent! 👌🏼 It makes driving the car that much more enjoyable.

Hi there, I recently acquired a 1998 Boxster 2.5L in arctic white. It has stock exhaust. Would you recommend the Maxflo exhaust system? Also, I hate to ask but how is the drone? Best regards -Matt

I’m extremely pleased with the new exhaust. I debated between the more aggressive Fabspeed SuperCup, and the Fabspeed Maxflo. The Supercup is quite a bit more aggressive….and it sounds awesome, but I went with the Maxflo, to enhance the sound is really, but still be drivable on longer drives and weekend road trips. The Supercup is more “race car” loud. At lower rpm (under 3,000), the sound is good, but not crazy loud, and does not really have a noticeable drone in my opinion. When you rev engine over 3,000 rpm’s, is when it has the higher pitch, more aggressive note. I highly recommend this option if you want the car to sound as good as the Boxster looks….and sound like a true sports car!

Wonder what the cat back only would sound like???

I imagine you’d get a large percentage of the sound even with factory headers. I added the stainless headers, because the set I picked up was very reasonable. Thanks for subscribing! I picked up a ‘69 Triumph GT6+, and will be posting some videos on that, as well as more driving videos of the Boxster.

Do you hear well the sound with the roof down or is it very quiet from the inside? Otherwise sound so muchhhh better in that video 🫠😍😍
@cbsgarage2274
@cbsgarage2274 Год назад
It overall sounds so much better!! The stock exhaust, even with the top down was very tame and quiet. I now hear the exhaust with top down, and get more induction noise as well…..the air intake on a 986 is right behind the driver’s door. Not sure if that’s because of the stainless headers, or exhaust? I also have a K&N performance filter on it. I am very pleased with the results…I think it’s the perfect balance of a more aggressive,sporty sound, without being obnoxiously loud like some after market exhaust.👌🏻

@@cbsgarage2274 thanks man for the answer! Also you should do like pov driving video, you’re the only one doing video with this kind of exhaust, have a great Christmas time my man!

Thanks! I have intentions of doing more videos, including POV driving. I got a rig to mount GoPro to a couple of different spots….so more to follow. Unfortunately, the weather turned before I got a chance to get the type of video I wanted, on some good roads. I’ll have more in the Spring for sure! I also purchased a ‘69 Triumph GT6+ in the fall, and want to do some video of that car as well. Happy Holidays to you as well!!

How loud would you say the exhaust is? Will it anger the neighbors in the morning? my car is a daily so this is quite important. If you have a loudness comparison to another car I’d love for you to tell me. Thanks in advance!

The Maxflo is the medium aggressive system from Fabspeed. When I started researching, I found clips of the Supercup exhaust by Fabspeed, and thought it was what I wanted. It sounded AWSOME, but I could tell it was very aggressive and loud, so I compromised, and got the Maxflo instead. I’m very pleased that I did, because it gets loud as you rev at 3,500 rpm and beyond, and also enhances the sound below that rev range. You can cruise top down, and not get overwhelmed with exhaust sounds. I highly suggest it if you want to increase the sporty sound of your flat 6, without sounding obnoxiously loud.

I purchased with just over 55k miles in July of 2021. I now have about 67k miles on it, and the exhaust truly brought the car to life for me. It was fun before, but the added sound of the exhaust makes running trough the gears that much more enjoyable! I have done oil changes, a coolant flush, and changed the main belt as maintenance. I have fixed a driver side window regulator, and also the headlight switch in dash. I plan on keeping this one, so eventually a new convertible top, and new starter are next projects. 👍🏻
