Easiest car to drive on the planet for sure. Point the nose where you want to go and hit the gas and it will take you there. 225 fronts and 265 rears and the balance is just incredible! Had one for 20 years...
A 1988 Turbo S with fresh suspension and factory Turbo Cup ECU upgrade is a fast car in capable hands. Too fast for the earlier Boxsters and Caymans. The transaxle cars were way ahead of its time, very underrated.
It's balanced don't have to fight the ass end trying to slide like boaters and 911 do where they have power is straightaway but turns 944 ...24..28 we just downshift rarely use brakes
@@miguelcastaneda7257 hell yeah, it puts into perspective how oddly the 911 models handle and what porsche can do when they put their hands on a conventional setup car.
911 1976 2.7 Carrera, 944, 996C2 3.6 and 1983 928S owner, and I have to say the handling on a 994 was way a head of its time, a totally underrated Porsche.
People seem to forget that the 944 platform was tested at the crucible of Lemans after it's mundane beginnings. A properly tuned 944 is a track weapon. Think about this, out of a gigantic field of cars the 924 GTS race cars finished 12th overall at Lemans, not in their class, but overall against GT1, GT2, GT3, LMP, Prototypes! Astonishing. The 944 platform is criminally underated and that's now changing with their value beginning to rocket for well kept examples. About time! Respect!
I’m a long time 944s2 cabriolet owner. #1, being a NA Cab, it could never do this. #2, I’m in my late 60s, and while I’m still fit and pretty sharp, I’m not sure I’ve ever been able to drive like this. #3, given #1 and #2, I still enjoyed the hell out of this video, and #4….my Cab still brings smiles with the miles up in the Kancamangus in the Whites, and running the Tail of the Dragon in the Smokies. Every time I take her out of the garage, she gets positive comments from everyone. Bravo-Zulu….thank you for letting me ride along!
Thanks for the demonstration I have both those vehicles there I have an 02 boxster and an 86 944 Turbo I always felt that my 944 Turbo was a bit faster than the boxster but I've never had either one on the track
Was this a, 'Real Race', or a Porsche Club D.E. (just open lapping)? If not a race,..several fauv-competitors, uncourteous,..should have been, 'Blue Flagged. Boxster would have lapped, faster than 944-T.
Not true. The Boxster caught up to him after a mistake and was making a pass on the 951 until a maroon 911 was in his way. The Boxster almost ran into the 951 a couple of times.
I had an '89 Turbo. An amateur will have a tough time beating a trans-axle car as they grip and grip and grip. High polar moment of inertia and all that.
Porsche 944t driver is taking terrible lines...and for some reason can't figure out the racing line. Cayman driver (because of the proper line) can keep up and perhaps pass if it weren't for slow traffic in the way
Good times when a 944 and a 964/993 was still fast for a Porsche, with a good driver. Now a stock base 992 with an ordinary driver who can't hit a apex will drive circles around these cars, sucks
@@_Chev_Chelios Actually, I went to the Skip Barber 3-Day Racing School and went faster around the fastest curve, a 100 degree included angle, than anyone, 103 mph. I only asked the question because trolls who have never been on a track always criticize the racers. Are you a troll?
@@jockellis I should ask you. Are you a troll? Because you asked a stupid question that you should’ve known the answer to. Why don’t you watch the video and take a look at how the car was driving and critique the line for yourself. And I’ve been on tracks, many times, in many states over many years.
The 944 Turbo and the 944 Turbo Cup are great cars. The BOXSTER was a flat 6 and he has true problem to follow the 944. The weight balance on the 944 is perfect. The engine in front part and the gear box in rear part.
@@Gorilla_Jones Indeed! I was so close to buying 3 different 944s in my life and one 911. Should have done it, at least one of them but my 535is isn't exactly chopped liver.
Well, it should be obvious that the Boxster driver lacks the same driving skills as those of the 944 driver. I'd like to see the same driver drive both cars on the same track.
