Really great job on the video. The process is explained so well. It worked perfectly. I reversed the position of post 25 and 27 to open the top as well. I plan to order a replacement relay but I first wanted to ask you if there is any possibility that my issue could be a problem with one of the safety shut-offs; ie. #18 (Speedometer) or #15 (parking Brake) etc. Is there any way to test? I just wanted to be sure before I shelled out the money for a new relay.
I know I must be thick, but I don't understand what swapping 25 and 27 means. Can you say what pins 25 and 27 get jumpered to for opening the top. Thanks!
Most of trouble assigned to the softtop is causing disfunctional of microswitches. Buying a relay for about $200 and finding out it wasn't the cause, really hurts.
Great video! The top on my '00 986 non-S won't open. I hear the relay click and it sounds like the motor wants to start, but stops quickly. Any suggestions???
Thanks and very helpful in event of rain. Worked perfectly. I replaced my relay but still not working without override. Do you know what sensors/switches this process bypasses to help figure out a permanent fix? thanks
Thank you for this video. Helped me out a lot. Ive been enjoying the sun for a few days not worrying about the roof being stuck open. Tomorrow has rain in the forcast and you saved me. My issue is the emergency brake light wont go on preventing the top to work.
Hello , Any idea what it could be causing the top moving very slow when i closed it, some times i have to push the top in order to help the motor to close it up.
Someone please help, on my 99 boxster I used this to put my top down after it randomly stopped working and it worked like a charm, ordered a new relay and it worked flawlessly however the next day it stopped working again! I checked the handbrake issue, the switch in the top latch, and the switch that makes the top go up or down. Could there have been something that blew out my original relay and my brand new one??
It can be done, but it is difficult to do on the bench since this is really several relays and switches built into one. We use a known good used unit to substitute and verify if it is faulty. You can email us for assistance with this.
Hi.. I operated my roof manually to close it, later on adjusted as per instructions.. & calibrated it.. till calibration everything is ok, but as you know after calibration, roof will go to the rear of car( fully open)... From here I can't open the roof with the help of switch, there is click but it doesn't work... But if I raise it manually like 30-40 cm, than it works, any idea what could be wrong ? There is no fault code, I have replaced a cylinder..
Thanks for the info. How did you find out which Microswitch was bad? So my top was not closing. I got a new battery and still would work. I left the car alone for a day and all of sudden it works like magic. I am so puzzled. I wonder if I should change out the Microswitch while the top is still working because I don’t want to engage with the manual operation.
@@hl2408 see all of the microswitch has some functions, you can check most of them by removing separately, & then check manually with a multimeter... Check all one by one.. or you can check with a scan tool while operating them... I guess in your case 1st check if there is any fault code for roof... you can try calibration of roof as well with a scan tool before dismantling anything
Thanks. By scan tool. Do you mean durametric? I love my 996 but one of the headache is the top. I am not too afraid of the Ims nor the bore scoring actually because the top is so complicated. My s2000 was so reliable.....
