Cool video, man. It was pretty clear the Acura had much better pace, but the Porsche team was very consistent (classic Porsche) and objectively drove a better race overall. I was a little pissed to see Taylor take a chunk out of the number 7 car and then clearly take advantage of the reduced grip, but it all worked out in the end, I guess. I still hate that Taylor put it into the wall at the end because he drove very well otherwise and I think it would mean more for the Porsches if they beat him while he was still rolling. It was also neat to see Porsche get second at Spa, but man did that Ferrari lay a nice move on them there at the end. Cadillac seem to be doing well save for some bizarre and devastating crashes and I hope the BMW, Peugeot and Vanwall can get on pace soon. This is a very exciting time in sports car racing.
Thanks man! 🤙 Exciting times indeed. The parity in IMSA is incredible and the BMW are knocking on the door too. I think the 2:40 race at Laguna next week will be awesome.
Hey man I just discovered your channel and I'm new to learning about race strategy and I have to say your narration is incredible! I mean freaking incredible! I found my heart racing the entire time with your description and I learned so much about what I was seeing! Thanks for your commentary and channel and keep going!
I think I heard them say they had some issues getting the front end grip this weekend. But for sure, once they figure the 963 out they will be mighty hard to beat.
@@GroovedSlick I just listened to the latest Laurens Vanthoor podcast and he said that they had been testing the car recently and had identified and fixed some of the issues. Didn't get into more detail but thats promising
Please keep making videos like this I was stunned to see you were not a much bigger channel. Watched this and your Kevin Estre videos just blown away! The man
Man your videos are insanely good. Can‘t get enough of them. So I have been watching some of them over again. Keep up the good work and I‘ll be waiting for s new one! Many Greetings from Germany!
And the Cadillac did not send it. There was dust on the outside of the track, you can’t see it, but he’s already lost traction and slipped to the left before he touches the brake. He was TRYING to get the car straight before he applied the brakes but ran out of time. And that’s when he locks them up. The Acura dodged the Cadillac but lost the wheels and had to spin. It didn’t hit the wall or the Cadillac. No damage. Just tire wear.
Dude. It was SO obvious when you watch it live in person. The 6 car was WAY faster every other session for the weekend. But he was just holding the Acura back. Defensive lines into every single corner.
The only thing I hate about LMDh is how all the cars basically look the same. That's one thing I loved about Group C, GT1 back in the day and even GT3 now a days with the personalities of each manufacturer showing in the car design. The engine freedom, albeit spec-esque to conform to a specific horsepower is nice but I'm torn. LMH on the otherhand loopholes have allowed teams to essentially repurpose LMP1 cars when the spirit of those regulations were clearly more supercar in mind. Eventually both of these categories will merge they are too similar.
The 10 had the same thing happen vs Porsche at Sebring. 10 was in the lead, pit during a yellow and Porsche pit strategy came out on top there too, albeit the big incident. Basically both those races the 10 was comfortably in the lead and went into the pits, only to come out and be in trouble. They gotta work on the pit strategy.
Great breakdown! I tell all of my friends that are into racing how great IMSA is especially compared to F1. Wish they’d listen. Keep making videos. I love your analysis. Hard to find good content on IMSA like this!
Great video! Small thing that I’m pretty happy with is that bmw seems to be improving quite steadily. Still not the quickest but I hope they can manage to get a win this year!
Thanks! Yeah, they were definitely quick at LB and with the little BOP change before Laguna I think they have a pretty good shot at winning. That would be fun to see
I remember the first race I watched Cambell, he was racing in the then retiring 991 GT3 R at Bathurst. In the closing laps after a restart, the man overtook also the then retiring Aston Martin Vantage at a tight apex to which to this day I don't know how did that move not end both driver's race. I still go back to watch that clip time and again. Bright future he has I say.
The 31 sandwich on the 10 had a huge impact on this race for sure. Nothing went well for Acura at long beach. Awesome race though for sure, the ending was crazy.
Yeah, just a dat to forget for the 10 crew. I really felt for Ricky at the end. I feel like people were just judging him for the final accident and not the 60 minutes of phenomenal driving that got him to that point.
@@GroovedSlick Yeah narrative went from amazing comeback to "Ricky Taylor drives like he's playing Gran Turismo". It's annoying, but casuals will be casuals.
Perhaps you could also fix the pronunciation of Porsche. Or do you pronounce Caddillac as Caddila ? For a commentator in a car related event it gives an uneducated impression if you dont know how to pronounce the brands properly.
hahaha thanks! Its already been discussed, I have learned and grown from this experience and have agreed to never use my mono-syllabic pronunciation ever again 😅
3:40: Why was the 31 car not blue flagged? I do not understand why the 10 and 6 are stuck behind a car if they are leading the race and the pit stop window was not yet opened.. what am I missing?
Blue flags are basically just suggestions in sports car racing. There is no requirement to move off of the racing line to let others pass and the same rules apply for racing lapped cars that apply for cars on the same lap
Hey Man. I really liked your video. I am a big fan of IMSA & WEC. I just came across your videos & I think that they are great. Do you know anyone who posts videos of the race like this for GT? I'm a big fan of Corvette Racing. Keep up the great work. I look forward to future videos.
The Acura was pushing with the extra pace it got but ended up a bit too overconfident. I don't want to compare Kevin Estre with Ricky, but Kevin braked late in the Nürburgring 24 and ended up with a crash so yeah, sometimes having the best car don't guarantee victory.
