Did you tap into the Porsche harness at the left tail light? Did you need to run a wire over to the right tail light to pick up that turn signal or does that wire pass near the left side? Do you have the Porsche wiring diagram for this section (actually, I've got a 987.2 if they're different).
Hi, Adam, Yes to all of the above. You can find a wiring diagram in the Bentley's manual or probably on line. Check the Porsche catalogue on their site.
Art, I'm wondering where you ran the power line for the trailer light adapter. I'm doing something similar with my new to me 987.2S, and I'm wondering where to go for the power connection. I previously did this with my 996, and connecting to the positive jump-charge post in the rear engine compartment was very easy. I'm not seeing easy options for my Cayman. I've enjoyed several of your videos. I'd appreciate any thoughts on where you ran your power line...fuse box with a fuse tap?
Hi Steve, All wires were tapped directly into the relevant stop, indicator, etc wires near their corresponding tail light using T-taps. Only the ground wire needs to be attached to one of the bolts on the firewall under the carpet.
@@NewArt1 My wiring harness has connections to tap into the tail light wiring plus a ground, and a power connection. I’m tracking down options for switched and non-switched power in the rear compartment. I found a auxiliary fuse panel in the back drivers side behind the carpeted panel with a 10 amp fuse. I’m thinking of putting a fuse tap on it. Don’t know yet if it is a switched circuit or a continuous circuit yet. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
@@NewArt1 that thought crossed my mind after I sent that. Haha. Thanks for the reply! Will be tackling this in my near future. Thanks for making it that much easier to follow along :)
My question is regarding tow capacity: trailer weight and tongue weight maximum limits? Class I, Class II, or Class III equivalent? I have a 13' vintage Aloha Travel Trailer (total weight
Hi Eric, The welds and structure of these bumpers is not up to heavier loads than the one that I have proposed in my opinion. My track day tire trailer had a tongue weight of about 52 lbs. and a total loaded weight of around 500 lbs.
@@NewArt1 Thank you for such a quick response. I figured the aluminum bumper couldn't stand up to Class II, but thought it important to ask. Appreciate the video above and your reply. :)
