One lap of the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife during Touristenfahrten in my Porsche 997 Turbo from 2007 with the Tiptronic transmission. Recorded on Sunday 09.06.2019.
Well done for giving it a go, and thank you for the commentary. I’m not sure I’d want a Tiptronic 997 turbo after watching this, the gearbox is not very sporting at all. Manual only for me, gives better control.
Great lap. I'm interesting to have your point of view on the Tiptronic transmission. Actually, many "Porschist" are saying tiptronic is giving slow speed shift which is not compatible with race driving. Maybe if you are a profesionnal driver you could do better with manual transmission but for a beginner or early advanced driver, not sure it would change a lot. intersting to get your comments on that.
Hi mate, went to check your own channel after seing your comment on my lap - that's an impressive driving, I'm happily surprised ! 8:21 BTG after only 30 laps, man you're definitely a good driver ! You've earned my subscribe. Also, at first I was like "don't tell me he's gonna comment the whole lap", and then I found it very interesting, so that's a nice idea you had ! I liked the "tourist guide" approach, saying the name of corners and so on ! Will you go back to the Ring this summer ?
Wow - thank you for this detailed feedback! ... I watch a lot of Nordschleife laps and sometimes I wish the drivers would talk a bit to give some insights what happened that day. Regarding the 8:21, I think most of that time is made up on the straights with the Turbo power. People doing sub 8 Laps in E36s are amazing drivers. Hope to be there some day. Also there is a guy in a stock 718 doing sub 8 ... that video is insanely good. I will go back - right now the car is stuck in a parking garage with a Tiptronic Transmission controller issue ... :D
Eine Update Runde auf dem Ring mit dem Porsche 997 turbo wäre nicht schlecht. Du bist ja jetzt viel erfahrener und streckensicherer. Da sollte eine geschmeidige und nicht zu langsame Runde doch drin sein. Würde mich sehr interessieren.
Yep I drive in M-mode and use the shift "switches" - honestly they are truly terrible on downshifts but I still use them when on the brakes. Thinking about letting the car downshift on its own the next time.
@@porsche997turbochannel9 Hit the barks before lowering the gear and this significantly improves the downshift. Of course only in manual mode. The situation D is terrible to my taste.
