I’m a passionate life long Geelong supporter. I never saw this result coming. But I am absolutely wrapped in our performance, but I can completely understand the way your feeling, because I suffered through similar situations for years. It will turn around one day. And you will enjoy success and all the pain of previous poor finals performances will disappear into the abyss. You would not be a true supporter if you are not gutted. Your time will come.

Where is Kochies comments He is more interested in fighting the SANFL than fighting for Ports final success Let's be honest now Eddie McGuire is gone his only outlet of self promotion He has Sydney to help him as he is Sydney centric When will he be 100% behind Ports culture He abandoned it when he went to be Mr Sunrise

We got conned by the football department … again. What the hell does Hinkley do and say to them before a final? The players looked defeated and lost, without purpose.

My honest opinion is that he is the one that gets nervous and scared and the players pick up on it. I don't think its a deliberate thing.

Are the players getting too hyped up? Are they getting too relaxed? This keeps happening and yet no one in the club can seem to identify and fix the bloody problem. This is a club which should have made at least 2 Grand Finals post 07. As hard as it sounds, I hope the team goes home dejected and vows that they WILL fix this before next week. Once again Port will be playing one of two teams it has already beaten this year. The coaches need to have an actual strategy to counter the other team, and the players need to be prepared to put in those hard yards to keep the pressure up and get those turn arounds which brought us those great wins at the end of the season. Anything but a win next week is a death nail for the Hinkley era. And I agree with Cornes that Port cannot just go with Carr. It needs a new face to change the culture of the team.

Totally agree! I was at the game too and there were too many hands on hips for a final. i don't understand the logic of a team working hard all season to make finals (top 2), just to put your hands on your hips and be scared to tackle. We are a good team! Our best is the best of the best!! It’s only our mindset that prevents us from going further. if i was studying to be an engineer, i had high marks for the whole course but on the final exam, i decide to just to not do anything then wonder why i failed. insanity. i witnessed first-hand charlie and esava literally running away from the ground ball - about 15m out from goal. truly baffling. if you don't want to play, then retire and do something else.

Giving up now is not the answer. Marshal must come in for Dixon. As I live in NSW it's hard to know all that is going on. However, as Ratugolea is giving us next to nothing, I think I'd be playing Lord. His performances last year, especially in the finals were good. If he is fit, at least should he mark the ball, he'd be capable of kicking the goal. Sinn should come into the back line for Darcy Byrne-Jones who should play forward after that, there probably not much more we can do. If Butters is not fit, we are buggered anyway...

As a power fan in Melbourne, I look forward to your videos after every game. No one around me really understands the highs and lows. Keep doing what you’re doing mate. As for the game, it felt like we spent 9 days thinking we were in the hot seat. We bought into the lack of hype around Geelong and Geelong used it to their advantage. Dont worry mate. I copped plenty for my opinion on facebook but mostly from supporters that have teams that arent in the finals. I too had hope for the 1st time in a long time. The fact is Hinkley has to go. Need a coach that doesnt play favourites and must not be a friend/father figure. We need someone ruthless who will make the players accountable and who is a much better strategist. Marahall, Dixon and a few others should of been replaced years ago and a decent full forward acquired but no. Hinkley wouldnt have it. Were all feeling flat. No doubt about it. How could we not?

This is just complete proof that Ken is completely incapable of taking this club to a flag. Look at how incredibly we ran out the season but then oooo big scary final and somehow we regress 100 steps back? I think it was since 2013 we've had an average ladder position of 6th, yet we genuinely have not got a damn thing to show for it, and I'm convinced that the Port board think that because we do pretty well in H/A that that's enough to keep us going. It's embarrassing

Anthony firstly you do a magnificent job getting this content to us. For those people who attacked you personally I say go multiply. I was told that at least eight of them came down the illness Charlie had a few days after they got back from Perth. Some were still feeling the effects hence the very light training sessions in the week leading in to the final. I noticed they were out of petrol towards the end of Q1. I hope the abovementioned is a valid reason for the listless performance after Q1. We should be fully charged for our next game .PS I went through this under Mark Williams but he eventually delivered. I was so passionate about the PAFC that I actually broke down and cried driving home after the losses to Collingwood and Sydney in those dark days between 2001 and 2003. As you get older you start to "step" away and realise that this isn't the centre of your universe. Since that 2004 Premiership and 2007 GF I have lost both my parents and two siblings. My life values have changed. Football now is a diversion and nothing else. Yes you do get angry after a loss but it lasts for no more than 24 hours then you move on. You will understand this more as time goes by.

AFL can regularly give you a false sense of superiority. Undoubtedly you were beaten, but the reality in the minds of coaches and players was that their systems were working on every level. Sometimes the footy gods are cruel and just every player has a shit night and every 50/50 decision goes against you. Ask yourself where you’d prefer to be, lagging at the bottom like a North, failing to make finals like Essendon time and time again or challenging every final. Geelong went thru this exact pain in the early 90s, ever the bridesmaid. Might take a bit more time, but the foundations are solid, true you might need a new coach, but one of the biggest problems is the in fighting within the management that appear to always undermine or cast doubt on their direction. Maybe a clean out at board level and bring in some former talent to cement some pillars of stability to complement the foundation. Anyway, food for thought… keep your channel going and hope your fellow port supporters can at least band together to give each other some needed support too.

I feel you're right and wrong on a lot of points here Ant. Firstly, i agree we were all a bit overconfident with this game coming in realising it isn't 2020 anymore. I also want to express that Ken wasn't the issue last night. Our players broke mentally and our captain & leaders weren't there to be seen. Zak was injured so fair enough to him. All the players did was bomb long 50s and even at the presser after Ken said we could've worked with angles better. BZT was scared of the contest and everyone broke under the pressure except JHF, Burton and Bergman essentially. I hope we can at the least make next week competitive for a full game of footy but something needs to change. it feels like the club needs a mindset change, we have the cattle but refuse to run through the mud when it gets thick

I've stayed quiet here for the last couple of weeks with all the flag-waving, "they've turned the corner, and they're going to win it all" silliness that's been going on. But... there's no silence after that. Ken's likeable as a person, but this never-ending hell-scape nightmare needs to end. Port took to the field with absolutely zero plan. Zero plan to handle Geelong's offence, zero plan to push through Geelong's defence, and zero plan to not look like 12-year-olds in the middle. And, as ever, zero ability to adapt any part of their game when the game isn't going the way they'd hoped. I don't think there's any coach on the team that understands you can't go into the finals without some new strategy specific to the team you're playing. It's fine to say that the players sh|t the bed (because they did), but why do they always do that in every single important moment the team has ever faced in the last eleven years? Because there is zero plan for what to do as a team. And zero accountability; nobody ever has to pay a price for screwing up absolutely everything that they're supposed to do. Embarrassing. God, this whole thing was so dreadful. Maybe the most unwatchable Port game that I've ever seen. Dixon didn't even touch the ball until the final quarter and did crap all when he finally did; guaranteed he's back in next week. Esava was tits-on-a-bull useless; guaranteed he's not going anywhere. DBJ should become a spy, he's so good at completely disappearing; they'll probably put him in the ruck for the next game. Rozee just can't be allowed to captain the team next year; he doesn't lead in any area of the game, the team, the culture. I know Boak is still heralded as some manner of god on this channel, but he shouldn't ever play a game again, he's more done that Dixon. 97% of our kicks landed uncontested in Geelong hands; at practice, we'll see them all laughing and trying trick-kicks from impossible angles some more. When they should be proving they can kick 30 metres straight on! This team doesn't play like they want to win, so I just can't be sad anymore when they lose. Selection for next week? How about half of this team sits, and half of the SANFL team gets a shot? They'll also lose by a horrendous margin, but for fick's sake maybe a message will finally be sent. I'd say Burton was maybe our best on ground for this game. What does that say about who should play next week? My grandmother, Port... put my flipping grandmother in. Every player on this team should go home and stay there, and tell the board they'll come back when there's a coach. And for the love of all that's holy, the answer is not Josh Carr. He's clearly as stupid as the rest of this useless brain trust. Doesn't really matter who we play next week, we have exactly 0% chance of the 2024 premiership. If JHF were smart this off-season, he'd ask to go back to North and promise to bathe in front of anyone in the city that wanted to watch because god knows, Hinkley will be back again in 2025 to do this all over again. Even better, he should demand to go to the Bulldogs, because I think they're going to be my new #1 team. One can only say they don't like being smeared in feces for so long before you have to crawl out of the sump pit. And I'm feeling done.

I was following Port Magpies from 1980 onwards and young blokes like you didn't see just what this club was in the SANFL heyday. Port supporters always expected to win. If we didn't it was rarely a blow out. The Port Magpies were hard nosed blue collar grunters that ran though brick walls to win and most times they did. We were proudly cocky. We taunted Norwood, Sturt and Glenelg supporters because we knew most times we would dominate. Us Gen X and Baby Boomer Port supporters knew a time when premierships were expected and delivered. I wish I could take you younger supporters back in time to know what it was like to revel in constant success. Back then and in our early AFL days many of the players came from old Port Magpies heartland zones. Those days are gone. We need some of those old Port Magpies players to get around the club and remind the current players just what the Club was and who the bloody hell they are playing for. Port's SANFL success was one of the best out of all Football codes in the World. In all codes across the World Port had one of the best records ever. I'm sorry you younger blokes never got to see just what hard nosed Port Magpies tradition was all about. Maybe if Warren Tredrea gets his way it will get back to it's true roots...which were truly amazing. All the best mate. It can turn around if the old blue bloods get around the Club and get back to "The Creed". If you haven't read the Creed look it up. It drove Port Adelaide Magpies to it's dizzying heights.....and it can be done again. Cheers.

I was born in 2000, and follow and understand and have read and watched all SANFL Port magpies history and yes it’s very patronising knowing what our club has become today. Different mentality, different ethos as well it’s sad that the club is a rabble of what it once was
@saxon3980
@saxon3980 10 дней назад
@@Lucifer-InvictusI started following Port in the 70's, and like a lot of others, I supported Collingwood in the VFL. I'll be honest I'm still a Collingwood supporter. I attend most Power games, as my Lad is a Power supporter. I literally cringe when they play the "They'll never tear us apart", because that's exactly what joining the AFL did. I love it when things like last night occur, not because I'm bitter, but because it increases the banter between father and son. I feel his pain, but it also dismays me that he's a bit of a fair weather supporter, and it's something I just don't get. It's that lack of unconditional support of his club, and finals performances that show players have no pride of performance, that proves to me that there's no link from the Power to the Magpies I love. My opinion is they need to move on and create their own history instead of claing the historical successes of Port Adelaide. Then they might accept that winning Premierships isn't easy. I believe that stands not only for supporters, but the players as well.
@AlecBurman
@AlecBurman 10 дней назад
@@saxon3980 Some good points there. Without wanting to sound like a sap, our generation will soon pass off the scene. It won't be long before those that witnessed the Halcyon days of the Port Magpies are gone. Initially when the club joined in 1997 it made sense to talk up the Magpies tradition but those days are now long gone. Your point about creating a new tradition is well made. For a large part of the Power supporter base those Magpie days are irrelevant. I don't mind the Players donning the Prison Bars for the home showdown. Progress is like driving a car....most of the time you look forward but you still need to look in the rearview mirror. It was Port Magpies success that got the club to the AFL and I believe that history should be respected. But you don't glorify the past too much otherwise the present is sacrificed. As U2 said " I don't believe the 60's was the Golden Age of Rock..if you glorify the past ...the future dries up. "

You can't compare dominating an amateur local State comp with 9 or 10 teams with no draft or salary cap to a full time proffessional national comp with 19 teams, a draft and salary cap. Port fans don't seem to understand you can't dominate AFL like in the old SANFL where there was one ump and knocking the opppositions best player out behind play was considered a normal tactic and players were part time footballers and Port could just open up the cheque book and buy players with no draft or salary cap and no insterstate travel.

I hear you. As a Dallas Cowboys NFL fan, why did I have to pick Port to cheer for? They're exactly like Dallas. Play some great games in the regular season and then choke in the playoffs. But how much worse was this loss than the Brisbane loss? Did anyone expect us to come back from that like we did? Hawks did not impress me against Western. Even an ordinary performance should be enough to beat them next week. I no longer expect a Grand Final appearance, but I'll let Ken at least finish the season now before firing him.

Couldn't watch this until Sunday evening, just had to take a step away from the AFL for a bit. Keep it up Anthony, your work is appreciated, don't let the nuffies get to you. As for the club.... Bugger me this one hurts. I had such low expectations for us in finals this year and I'm still disappointed by how poorly we did, that's a soul destroying performance and I basically wish that was an elimination final, as I can't see any chance of us turning it around next week. As for Ken, I'll always be thankful to him for what he did for the club when he first got here. But if he doesn't get us to a GF final this year, when we had so much going right for us and such a good lead up into finals, then when is it going to happen? Why would next year be any different ? I don't take any pleasure in it, but the club needs a change. Even if we go backwards at first under a new coach it will at least feel like we can start building something new. The last few years have felt so stagnant and I can't see anything changing if Ken still has the wheel in 2025. Stick together Alberton crowd, things will get better, but jeeze I wish that they'd get better soon.

By half time I was done and simply sitting back and in awe of how Geelong knew exactly what they were doing. A small part of me said "we can reset, wake the players up and start defending properly" - nah. People who are backing Hinkley all because it's one game of 7 with a shocking performance clearly don't know the history. I genuinely think we could will every single H&A game and still go out in straight sets/prelim. Hinkley needs to go, before the likes of Bergman and Houston do actually leave the club. See ya next year 🖤🤍🩵

I'm absolutely disgusted as a Port supporter that we were beaten by 84 points in a Qualifying Final, we sing never tear us apart on the top of our lungs every home game - but we truly were TORN APART and now the finals are torn apart. I'm a Port supporter through and through but I'm distraught at how we played last night. I hope we come out firing next week, because to feel somewhat optimistic again we definitely need too! Thanks for the great contact week in, week out!

I'm a Geelong supporter and let me give you some free advice. It's not your coach, his job is to get you into a Top 4 position during the season, so you have a good chance at the Premiership. His job is not to play finals for you. So I think you are wrong about Hinkley being the problem. I'm speaking generally, because Port Adelaide fans seem to think sacking the coach is the Silver Bullet, it isn't. We had this issue at Geelong in 2005-2006 and from 2014 to about 2021. It's the players that have to stop playing like individuals and play as a team, giving 110% every single quarter, who need to help each other and put in the hard work, even when things are not going their way. Your players in the final last night, basically quit after half time. You could see it in their eyes. The media probably didn't help by blowing so much smoke in your asses before the game, by making you favourites, having a gun midfield, Geelong going out in straight sets, etc. I think your players believed that hype and penciled in the win before the match. You need a couple of the boys in that midfield team, to take some leadership responsibility and motivate the team on and off the field. To give you an example, your Zak Butters got away from an older player a couple of weeks ago and made fun of that opposition player that was chasing him, after the fact. Well, last night Max Holmes turned on the jets and made your Zak Butters look slow and ineffective. Karma comes around very quickly. Better leave the antics and the theatre for after you win the flag, not before. This is exactly what's wrong with Port Adelaide. Good luck next week.

Port played for 10 mins, then got flogged, then both teams stopped playing any meaningful footy after the half way point of the third quarter. Yet even then, Geelong managed to improve their stats, the stats for Geelong will look good in any future finals analysis of the club. Port are not as hard as they claimed they were going to be when they came into the AFL. Just all talk and nothing to back it up. Yeah, Port were going to show the AFL what hard, tough footy was all about, well hahahahahahaha that's never eventuated. They should have just stayed in the SANFL with their integrity intact.

Keep up the great work, Anthony ❤️ Any oppo fans mouthing off should remember that football is cyclical and it will happen to your team at some stage! Like all other Port fans I am totally gutted about Thursday night. Sick and tired of seeing the same movie over and over with this group. Needs to be a review of all coaches and players. The players lack skill and leadership and while they love Ken, they dont play for him when it matters..only when his job is on the line! Josh Carr is not the answer either cos he is just as culpable with the selection/strategy mistakes made.

Both SA teams 'ride the wave' far too much during the regular season. The way to win a flag is to prepare your season to peak at the right time, and from there, the coaches have full responsibility for planning the finals campaign. It seems Hinkley rides the seasonal wave into the finals rather than planning to peak and employ the right tactics at the right end of season. As a crows fan I'd lynch Matthew Nicks for Chris Scott in heartbeat, he's becoming immortal in coaching terms..... maybe the best ever if he keeps going.

I said before the season started I wouldn't judge my club until finals And once again, same crap just different year. Hinkley can coach home and away but not in finals. I blame the players also, but we can't sack 18 players. I want my club back. I don't just want Hinkley gone. I want most gone Is Carr the answer? I don't know, but we must go Australia wide in the search for our next coach. im sick of our club wasting talent

The worst part is they just gave up, they didn't even try to get back in the game. Nothing like the never say die spirit of the Port Magpies in the 80s and 90s. I can't really pile on Ken, he lost Dan and Kane and then Butters. But, he messed up the starting line up and keeping JHF off when they need him. The players need to take responsibility for this and Port need to trade a few players. The second choice players they have are not good enough. I don't think Josh Carr being head coach will change anything either. After Ken we need a coach coming in from outside the club.

There is something seriously wrong with this club. Ken must go, he is too soft, Any other coach would be fuming. He's had 12 seasons to hone a tough, resilient team with decent game plans. But no, come finals they are predictable and mentally fragile.

Man.... i feel for you. Stirs my emotions seeing yours flare up during this video. I posted at half time I knew we weren't going to just lose, but be embarrassed and that it was a theme under hinkley. I actually had messaged a mate that we would get pumped after just 5 mins of the game, but held back from social media till half time. On the port group page I was called names abused on for it. Funny thing is. I was right, down to a t. One of the many issues we have is that Ken has divided the fans. The moment that happened, also considering his record in finals, should have been the end of his tenure. This has all the vibes of post 2007 gf. Once again, Geelong have sent us reeling. And credit to them for it. But we need to make massive changes on the board, football department and coaching staff. Warren Tredrea is the man to lead us forward. All the rest are there for the money. Anyone saying hinkley isn't the issue, must understand that they only say that, because of their very basic level of knowledge about football. Scott played hinkley like a fiddle for 2 weeks, making him select a player to combat Stewart, even though he got injured in rnd 24 lol the gap in the coaches box was greater than the one on the scoreboard.

I was shocked last night, not by the defeat by Geelong, but by the attitude of the players. Hinkley is not the problem, he is solid as a coach. The problem is the playing group. What shocked me last night, was there was no togetherness between the players. Aliir was sitting at the end of the chairs, alone. Port's problem is the lack of closeness between the playing group. this showed up in 2023 when so many people were balling out Horne Francis. If you watched Geelong the constant closeness of the players as a team and as a group of guys was obvious. That is not the case at Port. Your problem is in your players and the lack of cohesion. Port needs to fix this. For me to see how isolated Aliir was in that room just blew me away. Too much selfishness and a lack of closeness among your players is killing you.

Port are regular season specialists, especially against the lower teams. Only a handful of good players. The rest are mix of overrated rejects or misfired draft picks. Instead of trading their picks away maybe they should invest in the draft and start building some list depth. Their biggest claim to fame is not winning the spoon. I see it as more an Achilles heel.

I was absolutely shocked. I thought Port was going to win. After the game you look at the 22 and you ask yourself could this team become a premiership team? The answer is NO. Dixon, Ratogolea, lachie Jones, Burgoyne, Jed, F. Evans and Burton will never win you a premiership. Then Rozee and Butters I believe aren’t ever going to be good midfielders in finals pressure. Their bodies aren’t made for finals pressure. The whole team had poor body language. Unfortunately Port players are fragile. Hinkley might not be preparing the boys for finals, but the boys on Thursday night had no pride, showed no desire or intensity to want to win. I hope they flick a switch against hawthorn, but I can’t see them winning and it will be season over. I love my Port Adelaide, I wish the players did as well.

This popped up on my screen, so listened to your video. I am so sorry you are getting personally attacked, that is disgraceful. I am a passionate Geelong supporter and feel for you. Yes, we are lucky to have a great culture however we have gone through similar situations in the past. Making finals constantly and never winning a GF. As a kid and had to wait until 2007 for the flag, it sucked getting beaten in finals all the time. Don't listen to the noise outside, especially the media. Every year they say," Geelong won't win; we need a complete rebuild". Then we start winning, and we are now a great side. The media is full of sh*t. I love going back to the beginning of the year with all the stuff they say then they do a complete turnaround. They are the last people to listen to, they have no clue. I know it is tough, however you do have the bones of being a great side and you are up there all the time. Rather be that than have no chance (North, Suns) or pop your head in and out with years in between like Richmond. You guys are still in it. You obviously do great content and thank you for the respect to the Geelong Footy Club. Keep your chin up, stay passionate, don't listen to the haters (keyboard warriors that hide behind screens) and good luck next week!

Dear Port supporters: don't abandon your club, keep at it, you make finals regularly enough, the breakthrough will come. We went 10 years making finals 9 times, we played 23 finals games and only won 7 of those, including multiple straight sets exits. Everyone wanted to sack Chris Scott, questioned our game style and if we had the mettle to win a flag, yet we persevered and found a new way. If u want to do the same you must endure, as hard as it feels never stop stop stop til.... Anyhow chin up, good luck next week.

The problems run so much deeper than just the coach, anyone who thinks just replacing him will fix anything is delusional. No way our next coach could possibly be someone from within the club for a start. We urgently need new fitness and medical staff, we urgently need either a sports psychologist or a better sports psychologist, to address some of the reasons why these performances keep coming year after year after year, and we urgently need to address the gaping holes in this list. That probably means taking some big steps backwards for the next couple of years and trading some top and talent out to get back into the draft .
