Hi Horst, I hope you are well and thank you for the content. This resonates well with me at the moment. I started my whisky journey drinking the non-peated whisky, which is great, but after discovering peated whisky it's been grabbing my attention lately. I find the smokiness can add a nice complexity. The last peated whisky I bought was a young one too, and I loved it; it was unadulterated interesting stuff straight from the cask.

It's one of my favourite whiskys. But in my neighbourhood it's a lot more than 50 pounds unfortunately.

Is this kind good for trying it out for newbies ? Or better off leave it to the pros and go with something like Jameson black ?

A high-proof Islay whisky such as this is going to turn off most beginning whisky drinkers. Best to start off with something milder such as a Glenlivet 12 or your Jameson Irish and work up/out from there.

@@paulm749Jameson is a different story. But better try it at first. Its 40% so should be much easier for you. I recommend you Glencadam 10. Its 46% but lovely easy sipper. 👍😁🥂🙋🏻‍♂️

@@peatbull3426If it says Single Malt then it has to come from same distillery 100%.

Now you know how many cask strength whiskeys you've been ruining Horst!!😂. I have a 69.7% bottle of Elijah Craig I got directly from Heaven Hill distillery in Kentucky, I would never dilute it, it's meant to be drunk that way. I would always have guests at least try a full strength whiskeys before diluting it. I had a taster of white dog, (I think it's called) when I was at Buffalo trace,it's basically the pure white spirit and it was like 92.8% or something crazy and we all knocked it back and it actually didn't burn any more or less, and tasted as you would imagine it would, but you have to try these things.

"Every five additional proof is three percent alcohol"... Another imperial unit of measurement invented by a drunken lobster. Let's just stick to ABV and avoid all the confusion :)
