Listen bro, you are applying a lot of pressure on tip of the welding pen. You should not do that. I tried with fully charged ups battery 12v 7.2ah SLA battery did weld from level 3. So you need to loosen the tip. This will do the job. One side put pressure to hold strip and battery in position. While other side try keeping 0.0001cm gap. Its not the pressure which will weld, but its the spark/arc that will weld. Afterall its not a punching machine.
Else if you want a real spot welding machine. It is dangerous and can even shock you. 1. Purchase a delay timer circuit. 2. Go harvest a ups tranformer. 3. A quick push button for bike horn. 4. 4SWG copper wire 5. Wire connector terminal 100amps. 6. 3pin plug 7. A usb adapter for switching the timmer circuit. No problem if ups transformer is aluminum wire wonded. Later add a 12v dc fan near the transformer for cooling. In ups transformer you often get 3 or 2 wire in one side, while on other you get 4-7 wire depending on manufacturer. Where you get one wire ground or the black wire and now test using continuity tester on multimeter which wire has greater resistance? Black to black will be common others check with red probe. Some will get 130ohm 176ohm 191ohm 165ohm like this. The one with greater resistance e.g. 191 is greater so this will be our wire in use for mains supply. Cut other wires, caution they should not touch each other. Take the plug connect the ground black wire from transformer to the neutral pin of the plug. Now the live take a wire out from the plug to COM of the timer circuit. And the extra live wire from the transformer to the NO of the timer circuit. Adjust the trim pot to low side. Solder the horn trigger switch on the delay timer(although you get switch on board but for handy) board. Trigger and ground. Finally on the three wire side or two wire side connect the wire connector terminals either 3 pin or 2 pin screw and tighten up. On meter you will see either 12vac for 2 wire or middle com of multimeter 6-0-6-12. If you shorted 6v and 6v terminal it will show 12v. Now on other side of terminal screw two 6swg wire to extend them. Now diy a soldering pen your spot weld machine will be ready. But for short circuit don't turn on the transformer for more than 5sec. Afterall its not a auto switch welding maching. For autoswitch you need to buy a auto switch delay timer. You need to feed time program.
