We did not want the warm temperatures to keep us from our travels during the summer, so we researched several alternatives such as swamp coolers, fans, and the zero breeze portable AC unit. In this video, we will review an inexpensive AC unit for your van or small RV that works great during the hot summer months! We found a portable AC unit from Costco, similar to this one amzn.to/3A0flZS on Amazon. We have found that this portable AC unit for our van has been awesome and is able to drop the indoor temperature by about 20 degrees and we can easily remove it from the van when we don't need it in the cooler months. I highly recommend this inexpensive unit vs. the more expensive competitors.

Hey Jason! I have the EcoFlow Wave A/C and I vent out the same window as you, using your fantastic “yard sign vent plate” system! Thanks for the great ideas that make vanlife more enjoyable & fun!
@CarolinaCampervan
@CarolinaCampervan Год назад
That is awesome! I am so glad it was helpful. It has made a huge difference for us and we typically leave the (non-AC) vents in all the time to create additional flow. How do you like the EcoFlow Wave? Thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel!

Wrap some reflectix insulation around the exhaust tube and it will work much better.

We did a Seattle to Maine and back trip this summer and bought a portable AC as well. We actually stored it in the bathroom while driving as it was the correct size for it not rolling around. We also vented out the same window and luckily the precut plastic piece was the correct length to fit in between the zipped window cover and the window and the sliding glass closed the gap. But we kept the unit on the floor. But absolutely a game changer with the summer heatwave. Now back home I will change it for a smaller unit that I already have that is narrow enough to fit between the two front seats and actually blows air out the front of the unit instead of up. I am totally gonna borrow that vent plate idea for the front passenger window as we will have to vent out that now. Great content as always and safe travels!
@CarolinaCampervan
@CarolinaCampervan Год назад
Yes, the vents work out really well, let me know if you have any questions when creating yours. We picked up this AC unit spur of the moment, but really like the idea of having one that sits between the two front seats with a front ventilation. Thanks for commenting and sharing what has worked for you! Have an awesome day!!

LG unit from Home Depot. LP0621WSR is the model number, mid range can’t see the BTU size but it’s 8-10k I believe. I plugged it in the outlet by the side door shower or in other occasions just ran an extension cord out the window I vented it from.

@CarolinaCampervan

I wouldn't do it just because I'm not sure if there is any bad exhaust that gets emitted. Sorry I'm not much help, but I would error on the side of caution. Thanks and have a great day! 👍

Hey Jason, Just wondering how you drain the condensation/water?
@CarolinaCampervan
@CarolinaCampervan Год назад
I just place the a/c unit outside. There’s a drain plug in the back, so just unscrew and the water flows out. You can leave it in the van and drain with an included hose, but I just take it outside. Thanks
