Need to beat the heat? Make your own, portable Outdoor Cooling System. My design for a fully self-contained misting system lets you take benefit of evaporative cooling like the pros. This refreshing misting system does not need a hose / faucet connection or a power source. I will show you exactly how to make one for yourself (Free tutorial). The whole effect of a mister system takes advantage of a process called evaporative cooling; moisture exposed to air flow creates a cooling effect.
Once made you can quickly take the misting system down and set it back up somewhere else. Take it camping, picnic, BBQ, Sports, tailgaiting, golf cart, ATV or just about any other place where you need relief from the heat.

I love in Florida I do mechanic work, between March and November working outside is nothing short of awful. I've been tossing different ideas around using this set up but with a small portable power station and a jet pump for when power wasnt an option. I have 2 of these sprayers (which ironically is what made the pond pump idea spring to life) it's always funny to me when moments like this happen because had I not been overthinking it and taken my own advice K I S. S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) I'd have seen the answer was right in front of me the entire time lol sometimes i wonder if I'm actually smart or if the smart times are just accidental 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fyi first video I watched was this one and I need look no further. Thanks for sharing! I'll let you know when I build it :)

THIS Is just BRILLIANT!!!! the pack i purchases has 15 nozzles. So 5 nozzles are permanently installed at home, which is enough for me. connected to the Spray bottle. When Beach hopping i simply detaches from the main nozzle line. the remaining nozzles "kit" are ready to go!! We set up 5 under Gazebo at beach. and 5 nozzles under braai area. and simply just move our Spray bottle and connect. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY OUT GOING FAM. ENJOY!!!!!

Thanks so much for the idea ! I “updated” the setup by using a cheap , battery powered indoor plant irrigation system , instead of using the drip fitting it came with , I used the fittings for misters you showed and worked like a charm for my balcony that has no water source . I have a water dispenser so I have those big 5 gallon water jugs , and I used one of them to stick the pump in . I love how easy it was

I use a small pump for fish tanks, powered by a portable battery. I can then just throw a tube into a water bottle or 1, 5 or 10 gallon jug/water bag. The pump is pretty quiet too and lasts all day.

@foxtree4255
@foxtree4255 3 месяца назад
@@alexzucker7116 The electric pump just replaces the weed sprayer. Its not a submersible style aquarium pump so it has a inlet and outlet for hoses to attach. I simply ran intake hose into a water bottle and the other hose to some mister nozzles. HAOWIN Portable Misting System on amazon showed me the method and I just bought my own stuff for $15

Great idea! I am thinking about something like this to set up various small misting areas in my garden. Would it work with a battery powered sprayer like the 2 or 4 gallon ryobi? How much pressure will the misters need to produce mist? Thanks for this idea!
@DialedInDIY
@DialedInDIY 2 года назад
Thank you very much. I really appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to post a comment! It would absolutely work and done successfully (subject for a future video). Given that the hand pump version is able to pull off a mist the battery powered pump version works even better... more consistent. The amount of pressure needed depends on factors like the type of nozzles being used as well as the effect desired. You can experiment with the pressure that works best for your needs.

I run mine in Louisiana when I have to be in the vehicle not moving for a while. Stay in the vehicle with the air on. But run one up front to my vehicle front grill. So when the vehicles cooling fans are running. It sucks the mist through passing over the radiator keeping the engine cooler than it just sitting sucking in 90-100° temps. I figure it can’t be all that bad. If your flying down interstate while it’s pouring. The drops hitting the grill or following behind other vehicles it’s sucking up mist anyway. An if a motor had to run on idle for periods of time in the heat. Not getting forced air from moving. But forced air from the cooling fans. A cooler engine is less wear an not as hard on the engine if it’s running cooler.

Great setup! About wow long do your misters run before having to re-pump/pressurize the tank again?
@DialedInDIY
@DialedInDIY 3 года назад
This is a popular question right now... It is a great question and it is a multi-part answer. First, it depends upon how many of the nozzles I have turned on (i.e. half or all). Second, it depends upon how much pressure drop you are ok with before you want the pressure back up. Third, I typically get over 15 minutes before hitting the pump again. I have not used them recently but plan to this weekend so I will try to time it and get more specific.

Man I was thinking of doing usb mini water pumps but this makes so much sense... I'm thinking of filtering the cooler water while going camping to run this... Keeping my ice "dry" and getting cold water... I just wonder if I can find a pressure pump and an adapter without opening up the box and taking the thing apart n the store...
@DialedInDIY

That sounds like a great idea. You can make it efficient for that use by using fewer mist nozzles if you only need it to cool an area for a person or two also.

@thcrtn
@thcrtn 2 года назад
@@caitlinquantock1458 it works really well, and last for a bit... Enough to rest up for a bit... Also put up some sort of sheets to catch the mist. The cooling evaporated water will help in the shade... Just make sure the ground is absorbent or you have a rug... It's going to soak everything... A "mist lounge" should be its own area/tent... Good luck if you can filter your cooler water (the drink cooler) it's even better... Ice cold and a life saver!!!

I want to create this misting system with a 1-2 gallon tank that I can connect to a power outlet rather than a hand pump. Is there any frugal method to hook a misting system to an electric powered pumping system? I do not have a water source I can connect the misting system to.

There are in-tank pumps you could use with this design. All it needs to do is be submersible and create air pressure, and seal to the tank.

Sorry, but this doesn't look very good. That is not mist, this going to soak you. Misting systems need much more pressure than a little chemical sprayer can offer. If you want a misting system get a 100 psi diaphragm pump and a battery.
@DialedInDIY
@DialedInDIY 3 года назад
Sorry you didn't like the look of the output. For the purpose and effect I was after this worked out perfect. Nobody gets soaked, the effect of evaporative cooling is attained, the cost is kept to a minimum and the unit is easily portable without a direct waterline. You are completely correct that the typical pressure requirements of a commercial mist system is much higher. The downside in striving for that effect is a significant increase in cost. That said, if I was going to run one along the side of my home or at a place of business (restaurant) I would hook up a direct feed water source and a regulated pump. Thank you for taking time to watch my video and post a comment. I really appreciate it!

Ihave to disagree. I''ve set up 2 of systems based on these instructions and even used $4 dollar tree pump sprayers and its a great system. I've never had an issue with pressure and the mist is so fine that a small sprayer works great.
