Beating the challenge levels legit was a pain in the ass and requires quite a lot of patience. I probably wouldn't have been able to get gold on them without this guide so thank you.
welp sadly i have played portal before and never completed it so just started over again and for some reason it says i have 0/26 but when i go into chamber 00 it plays the music and there is the green light. then in the next one the radio isn't even there
Be sure to fully play through the game first and then do a second play through for the radios. On the first go through it won't let you actually activate them.

Very good, thanks - I've been meaning to complete Portal properly for years and now I am! On the 2nd radio in chamber 15, I actually got stuck in the area behind the sliding doors, and Glados let me out through a secret hatch!
Thank you so much for such a great video! It's been a lot of help, especially for the challenges. I never thought I could do them, but being soothed by your voice pushed me to practice harder and I've been getting gold! I even managed to shave 2 seconds off the gold time for one of the levels :D
You (Intro to Chamber 15 Steps): "I did it in 44, so you have a lot of wiggle room with this one." Me: "Don't look at me, I finished with exactly what was needed!" (And I was holding my breath as I stepped into the elevator!) Thanks a lot for the help. I might finally get those last three achievements! I did Chambers 13-15 tonight (steps and time), I might do 16, 17 and 18 tomorrow.

Someone probably said, but for the Chamber 06 radio, you can just crouch and grab the radio through the portal. Takes a bit of wiggling, but it's a LOT faster than falling through, less of a test of your reaction speed as well :)
At 9:00 - you don't need to get out of the room with 2 timed doors. Once you get in there and both doors close, the floor will open up and will let you fall out. You don't have to re-open a saved game.
21:20 This little cube throwing trick took me - no joke - over 150 attempts. Do you know what happened the first time it landed on the button after 100 unsuccessful throws in a row? I got excited and accidentally fell off the platform without saving. I'll never make it to the National Buttoncube Assosiation...
I somehow didn't get the Lab Rat achievement after 2 playthroughs, probably because I was playing offline. But I came here in case I missed a crucial part of the game!

Btw for that dropping and catching the radio part in Transmission received you can glitch your portal into the corner of the actual laser machine thing and grab it through the portal
Finally got 100% after 16 years of owning the game. I had some of the achievements from early on. The only remaining were the challenges in the advanced maps. Those were probably the most difficult. Least steps and minimum time were the hardest.
Great guide, thanks a lot. But I'd like to make some remarks 29:18 in Chamber 17 with the sLeast Time I for some reason couldn't get into the portal that way so I used the same method as in the Least Steps, shooting the portal gap into the room with the button, finished the map in 1:04 minutes Also, this method could be used for Least Portals, it sounds easier than struggling to place the camera correctly, but I haven't tried it 30:03 in Chamber 18 with Least Portals after jumping with the computer on the first platform you used 4 portals. Then you used 2 portals to just get to the platform with the door, then created another one to get to the button, then another to get from the platform below to the door, making it 8 portals in total before going through the door. But instead of all that, you can shoot the portal on the extended part above (as you did), then jump with a computer to the platform below, place the second portal here, go through it and get to the Door Platform, and when you ready for the button, just jump off the Door Platform to the same portal on the platform below, placed earlier. After pressing the button, you can jump to the platform below, go through this portal again and reach the Door Platform. This results in only 2 portals being used instead of 4 in this door-button section, so you can complete the level with only 13 portals It's pretty useless fact since the limit for Gold is 16, but still 31:19 for Chamber 18 with Least Time, I've used the same method with placing the computer between doors. But in that case, it's important to place the computer leaning against the door before 40 seconds on the timer and get into the last room before 50 seconds on the timer to get to the elevator right in time
15:58 What? I have no idea what do do. You could have showed how to do it instead of say “use portals” Otherwise, good video. Edit: after looking up a guide I found it and I should have found it earlier, but still, footage of where the portals should be placed would have been nice.
Great guide overall. FOR ANYONE STUCK ON CHAMBER 18 SPEED RUN LIKE I WAS: 1. Get to the turret room as quick as possible, being sure to place a blue portal above the door 2. in the turret room, use an orange portal to knock to camera off the wall 3. Place another orange portal on the floor and bring the camera back to the door 4. Use the camera to jam the door open like we did on the least steps and least portals achievements 5. Portal through the jammed door and clear as normal I was consistently getting 1:13-1:14 and got a 1:04 my first time jamming the door
Getting repeatedly killed in Challenge Map 13 by the energy ball is sending me into a blinding rage while I'm trying to complete this in under 19 seconds.
17:51 LMAO i genuinely had no clue how to complete this, i just went into the secret room and grabbed a couple cameras to stand on to boost myself up to the button
don't know what happened, but on 18 least portals the computer would sometimes explode(fly away at high speed) so it's recommended to quick-save before stepping off the button
On the last vanilla cake map, if you get to the second highest platfor, before the jump over, you can make a portal on the jump, and one on the second highest, and jump down to start, and then use the long fall down in the start of the lvl :)

Trying to get the radio in Chamber 6 gave me motion sickness, but if you place the portal correctly in the ceiling, you can actually grab it through the portal without dropping through it.
I really don't get it maybe i'm doing it wrong but in my case even drop from a portal counts me a step, best case i did 19 steps in the first advanced level. Seems pretty hard, I'm gonna try it harder but even at the start with the walk/jump, the slide of the land count me a 3rd step and impossible to drop trough the blue portal as you did. Anyway i'm very impressed and very thankfull for your video and guide. :)
For me the radio at the start area has no light when i bring it to the button it doesnt play the morse code and then there is no radio at the chamber 01 how can i fix that
@@Pandallax Definitely the best guide, I'll have a look at your other videos and might attempt another 100% completion on a different game. This one was actually quite quick, just under 10hrs in total.

16 time was hard to the point of feeling poorly designed. It just wasn't fun. I couldn't get below a 55 second run (after a lot of grinding) and was only able to finally get it because of the portal bumping bug. I tried all the timed maps after seeing the strats for the other two challenges for each map. I managed to beat 18 with the computer. The key to that involved a lot of reloading to lean the computer fast, and then jumping off the button you have the smallest of windows to shoot a portal into the next chamber as you fall (thanks to the computer holding the door) which saved the time you would have otherwise needed to spend to go back to the door platform.
I would say it's mostly good, there were some parts that were glossed over. i.e. The challenge maps. So parts he would say just portal over here, but it's through turrets and areas that can't be 'portaled'. Other than that great guide.
on chamber 16 you can clip a portal through the wall to get through the door immediately and save ~15 seconds, makes the least time way easier since doing the clip once isn't that hard. to see how to do it just watch the speedrun, it's pretty straightforward Edit: it's literally the same clip he uses on chamber 17 least steps, just do that and live a happy life free from chamber 16 least time
bruh??? in the least portals for chamber 15 he doesn't even do it right in the video???? he takes 13 portals to get to the last room, then cuts to a different take where he has 2 portals left to spare????? how am I supposed to do it in 14 portals if he doesn't even do it in the version we see?
if no one's explained it, i can usually leave chambers with only 2 steps on PC (cheaper mechanical keyboard) by jumping normally as late as i can before the second step registers.
