Iv'e got one of these, these were the last ones made before the company closed down. It cost me £28 15s (£28.75) in 1960. A lot of monet to a hard-up apprentice. Apparently the company closed because the owner had died and his daughter kept it going until all the casting in stock were used up. It was great value for money for a simple yet rugged machine, but you had to build you own stand and countershaft arrangement as you only got a matching cone pulley. It came with faceplate, carch plate and chuck backplate but no chuck, yo had to buy and fit your own. currently driven by a hoover washing machine motor that is older than the lathe. The headstock is not the original design - this type was fotted to the "Dreadnought" lathe made by Portass.
