Curious if it’s holding charge it was dropping quickly on the multimeter. Mine did the same and never held charge

I’m still using the same battery it holds fine. After changing it about a day it was fine that.

Question, does it matter what kind of wire you use?

No not really it usually works with all old batteries that have been discharged and need a reboot.
