I -love- this song so much. Its not only amazing, but it brings me to tears every time. It really hits home for me because I have two friends that are terminally ill, and while I know I likely have a few years with them yet, this song make me think of my relationship with them and that I cherish it so much.

Bro, what you highlighted here really hits so hard fr; to me it's like, the character of the singer has been trying to stay upbeat for the whole song, as if "pretending a little longer" is just a fun game, but on the very last version of the chorus when he sings "let's pretend" and you have that bass change RIGHT there, to me that's the breaking point, where the cracks that have been starting to form in the singer's cheerful mask finally make the mask shatter and the grief comes pouring out. And then the song ends, because Everything Goes On, and they're gone but the grief is with you, and you have to deal with that now and your heart is just broken.

The sound/bass part goes up and comes down which makes it cool. Just a straight through sound isn’t as emotional. Try it with headphones or something
