Portishead, playing Roads at a benefit concert for Ukraine at the O2 Academy in Bristol on May 2nd 2022. SETLIST: 00:41 Mysterons 06:13 Magic Doors 09:41 Wandering Star 15:30 The Rip 21:28 Roads
After seeing this thing happened, we gotta admit that we have that tiny little helpless hope, no matter how much we all know that will probably not come true.
I wish victory to Ukraine. I'm very sorry this happened. The heart is bursting with grief. Know that there are people who are protesting against the war.
the greatest singer of all time, and i'm not exaggerating, it's not just about tone and vocal technique, it's about spirit, Beth Gibbons takes the music into our soul
Really impressive performance considering the small line-up. Let's hope this will get Bet, Geoff and Adrian going again, they still got it. The world needs more Portishead.
@@wm1573 Well, given that it was their only performance since 2015 it doesn't seem very likely that there's more to come. Also, Beth is putting out her new solo album and going on tour this year.
Saw Beth Gibbons in Barcelona last week, 1 hour concert during Primavera Sound. It was mostly her new album (a very complex and touching one, IMHO), but she also performed something from her first one with Rustin Man. The last song was Roads, and from the first note all the public was thrilled. Me, personally, I was almost in tears. I mean, I was hoping to see Portishead since the very first time I listened to their live album, some 20 years ago. It doesn't matter when, but if they will put together some other songs, or just another concert, it's going to be worth all its waiting.
Sadly you might never see them perform live. It took four years to make a second album, ten to make a third, and there’s no sign of a fourth after 16 years. Beth Gibbons is about to tour though!
We can meditate on water, sky, flames and... the sounds, harmonies and heavenly voice of Portishhead... I can...any place, any time...It goes so many happy years because they are here, in my life and heart. Wizards... God save Ukraine!
Just beautiful - they have such a unique vibe. This is such a pure, intense performance and Beth's vice is still so incredible, no one goes that far out anymore.
So good ... one wonders why they left - when they can still bring it like this- Portishead remain a class act without any compromise and without any peer ...
This was beautiful, they still sound fresh, i was going to get some sleep and then this poped up on the YT and had to enjoy it, they need to make a new record, they still got it, god bless them
Los amoooo, Beth hermosa, bella, reina, diosaaa como siempre, no le pasan los años. Ojala sea el impulso para hacer nueva música, necesito un cuarto álbum de estudio, se que seria perfectooooooo.
Trailblazer... wow!!! Like chillz and the band and use of creative sounds is not heard today even with modern technologies...her voice is before auto tune.. thank you for sharing this. 90s flashbacks.. the best
Greetings from buenos aires argentina, hace bastante tiempo que los escucho aca por youtube pero esta musica la escuchaba en mi adolescencia me alegra que beth este tan entera y hermosa ,ojala los traigan a sudamerica.
It couldnt get better than this 🤷♂️especially live...thats in my opinion the reason why they dont make new music ... the 1995 roseland is a masterpiece ❤️🖤
Thank you so much for posting this. From an American who follows Bristol music. Loving Portishead and other Bristol acts like Massive Attack, Tricky, Smith and Mighty, Kosheen, Roni Size, Idles, Dub Mafia, Krust, Allflaws
What a perfomance i hope they are coming up with new music in secret love almost all their stuff and 15 years on from third they are still sounding great.
@@KydraExhale Popularity??? Lmao... The fact you even said that tells us you don't get Portishead... They have released 3 albums in 30 years, if they cared about being a popular band they would have 10 like most mega groups... It isn't about money or fame for them, it's just the music...
If only your government felt the same way... Respect to the people of Russia, at least those not willing to swallow their propaganda and certainly to those bold enough to speak out against it. Power to the people. This music is for everyone x
Portishead has been a band that marked my adolescence, thanks to it and massive attack I fell in love with trip hop, I share small trip hop lists on Spotify, I hope you like them and enjoy them, you will find them like: *got trip hop? vol 1 and vol 2* vol 3 coming soon
And the masks, that the monsters wear to feed, upon their prey. Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved the blackness of darkness forever... (c) This sounds so much deeper now, thanks from Ukraine.
Brilliant performance, stripped down and amazing. Hopefully they'll want to create some new music following this reunion? All the same, it's great to see them back on the stage together for such a good cause.
Wait what? Portishead underrated? A very very highly aclaimed band, that pretty much started a "sound", with very respected musicans from their peers, that have headlined massive festivals and sold millions of albums...underrated? People need to stop throwing that word around bc one of their favorite bands is not as popular as say...Taylor Swift? Smh
@@fungus_am0nguz644I notice this a lot as well people saying Portishead or green day or whoever are underrated and like you say lol these bands are more successful than 99.9% of working musicians it does seem everyone is compared with the success levels of Taylor swift or Justin Bieber or coldplay basically the top 0.01% of successful bands.
