Better if I could find the words to say Whenever I take a choice it turns away I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I battle my thoughts I find I can't explain I've travelled so far but somehow feel the same I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I am alive when I sleep Why am I not in all that I got? I can't find no one to blame Stand, stand, damned one Damned one Damned one Damned one I am one Damned One Where do I go?
Whenever I find my way back to this song, I know I am at a place again, that I don't want to be at. I love this song so much, it's maybe the best there is, but I don't want to hear it.
This song is so cathartic when I'm feeling shit. If you're feeling this way, and I know this is what you want to do least when feeling this way but, just talk and connect. Even if it's for a matter of minutes, even if you're only half there I seem to remember reading somewhere that this song was somehow connected to a BBC programme of the same name about the cold war, is that right?
Not sure if they are directly connected, but there was a movie made in the UK in 1984 by the same name. Forget modern horror... This will stay w/ you 😨
is there any way to change the metadata so kid's songs don't play after this 😬 why are all the related videos this crap ahhhhh btw this song is a masterpiece
This track engenders some of the strongest feelings I've ever experienced listening to a song. The embodiment of haunting. Complete and utter despondence dipped in spookily cinematic sonics. Peerless beauty from a band that perhaps can't be bested.
This is such an amazing song by an amazing band, I have to admit when I first heard this album, I didn't know what to think of it, but it really grew on me
Cant stop listening to this masterpiece!!!! And the way she sings "DAMNED ONE" at the end hits my core so strongly omg!!! It captures that hopelessness and emptiness.
- for me, the ending-repeated sound brings back images of 'Six Figures Getting Sick'. always thought Portishead and David Lynch go hand-in-hand, artistically.
The final hair raising piece to the most haunting album I've ever heard. There is a sense of humanity throughout due to the lyrics and certain melodies. But this final song is complete and utter hopelessness in tone, vibe, feeling, and lyrics. I've never heard anything like this to date. "Dahahahmned ooone!" 😨😭👌
If you take a look at the lyrics, you will immediately change your mind. Portishead lyrics are truly beautiful and the sounding is perfect. And chelsea is far, far away from that
For whatever reason, this song reminds me of Rosemary's Baby and the scene when Dr. Sapirstein and Guy are returning her to the apartment. It's a very disturbing and stressful moment in the film.
I remember in 2008, Geoff Barrow said they wouldnt leave it as long between third and the next album as they did with portishead and third, which was 10 years. Its been 13 years!! Not to rush art, but getta joggon!!! Need me some music!! Saltillo, Sunday Munich and Lendi Vexer scratch the vacant itch. Anyone got me any recommendations?
I read and interview a couple of months ago (I have to find the link), where in some point Geoff Barrow talks about the music they were into during the recording of Third, if I recall correctly they dropped names like Sunn O))), Hawkwind, some Bollywood stuff and named influences like John Carpenter's synths...
I can't believe how talented they are, three records that are more that great. One local magazine headlined the article on this record with this as follows: all the more sad. Certainly so. Haunting music that feeds your heart with joy.
I remember not being as into their 3rd album as much as I am into the first two but I always loved this song and would listen to it on repeat while painting/making art. Still gives me goosebumps.
M Hurst pretty sure it's supposed to sound like a down pitched air raid siren. As far as I can tell it's a reference to the BBC film "Threads" which is about a nuclear attack on Britain, and the ensuing breakdown of society.
You should listen to the full Third album, it is so beautiful. And here is another song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z43Qaay64n0.html
