I support your efforts. That's a beautiful tree!

The tree is growing into the side of the house and has destroyed the foundation.

@@carolejohnson-smith104 okay. Just demolish the home.

@@heseesall25 I agree 100%. A house can be constructed in a few months. On the other hand it too nature almost 100yrs to produce that beautiful tree.

Save the Tree, it can't be moved or rebuilt like a house, move the crappy house, save the tree. City of Portland is brain dead.
@agnome3777
@agnome3777 4 года назад
Great idea! You should buy the crappy house and the lot it is on, and pay taxes on it for the next 500 years to save the tree.
@reggie2334able
@reggie2334able 3 года назад
@@agnome3777 Actually they would have to pay on it for the next 3200 years because that’s how long that tree can live these trees are actually quite impressive but people need to realize you cannot plant these even remotely close to a house I see this all the time in the Portland area since these trees are not native to Oregon
@jilesbo9175
@jilesbo9175 3 года назад
@@agnome3777 Maybe the community should buy the tree, donate it to the city and the city should tear it down and leave the lot open or landscaped for a greenbelt in that neighborhood.

It's a beauty! At the foot of it I see you have some redwood sorrel and a live oak, too. We have a gorgeous 75 year old semperviron growing in my neighbor's yard. We love it & it smells wonderful when we are out in back.

Why does a species that can outlive the human life span have to deal with the trivial matters of human politics?

Thank you for covering this. I wonder, did the tree survive? Such a shame what the city is doing. As foolish as the fools who cut down the vast majority of these trees back in the 1800’s and in the early 20th century. They did it just for money and without any love for nature.

just another instance of out of control government trying to take an easy way out.... Seriously that tree is worth more than that POS of a house that is there.

The Tree must remain, Sequoias are an endangered species and recently have been threatened with extinction because of the wildfires

That tree is old growth I'm pretty sure it's illegal to cut down old-growth forest or trees I suggest hiring a tree or plant lawyer though

its planted, but they still should not cut a tree unless its dying

I hope everyone on the block plants a Redwood in their yard.. there are many videos of Guerrilla Tree Planting in parks, public places, Highway medians and on areas hard to get to.. they grow extremely fast and within 5 years can be 15-30 feet tall if they have enough water and sunlight… 2,6 even 10 feet tall a year is common…

Can you solve the problem buy purchasing the neighbors house? How much would it cost? Maybe a fundraiser?
@PrevailingFreedom
@PrevailingFreedom 2 года назад
Nah they went in and injected it with glyphosate and killed it.
@jilesbo9175
@jilesbo9175 3 года назад
From Medford Oregon all the way past Everett Wa and on parts of the Columbia River you'll find some of the most magnificent Giant Sequoia Redwood trees. The house appears to be abandoned and boarded up. Surely something can be done to buy the house from the owner and let the city create a greenbelt or greenspace for that community or neighborhood.

That would've been the best option is this age of worrying about climate change. Tear the house down and turn the property into a small park.

so did they have to cut it down? this was 2 years ago? October 2020, it is November 2022 now at the time of my comment

I just looked it up.. it was poisoned 🤮.. and I don’t think it made it… really sick people.. but the Wild Fire in Kings Canyon in 23 was terrible.. because the forest are Not Managed correctly… they Stop small fires and let the dead brush build up.. thus causing an intense fire that killed them all… but the idiots blame climate change.. you can’t fire climate change… but these idiots should be fired immediately

Save the tree and remove that shitty looking house, the tree has more value than the house. Best thing to do is start a fundraiser and buy that house and then tear it down.
