I'm from Croatia/Europe and last year I visited Portland Maine. Have a friend there, in South Portland. I'm in love with that city. Food is excelent, people so nice, craft beers, nice beach, nature... just beautiful. I hope next year will come again and take a beer in Irish Pub Ri Ra, take dosens of donuts in Holy Donut... :-)
I'm so glad you fell on love with the greatest city on Earth, Portland!! When you return (as long as it's not in the winter) take your treats from Holy Donut and take it to the garden behind the Longfellow House on Congress Street. Tourists and even most locals don't know this place exists and it's very special. If you need suggestions on restaurants let me know. We have more restaurants per capita than any other American city.
A big welcome back to all our subscribers! We’re kicking off 2018 with a visit to one of our favorite cities: Portland, Maine. Small in stature, but big on history, heart and hip, East Coast Portland gives its West Coast cousin a real run for its money when it comes to vacationing cool.
I immigrated to the USA this year in Orlando, Florida. Americans are the most kind hearted , generous people . Most of them were authentic and helpful.Long live America.
I'll be visiting fall of 2020 to canvass for Senator Susan Collin's Democratic opponent. Until then I'll be boycotting Maine and Maine products...especially LL Beane. The Beane family supports Trump. No more Beane products for me.
Bravo! The BEST representation of Portland and the surrounding towns I've EVER seen. This made me wanna walk around the Old Port and drive down the coast myself and I've lived in Portland all my life hahaha.
Portland, ME is that city which never ceases to lift up my spirits every time I am there, regardless of the time of the year. Portland is a joy to my soul. I know where I will be retiring one day, by this melodious song by the sea :-)
Lol as a teen we'd catch the bus home from Portland High in front of Longfellows house. People would go into the gate and we'd seriously say "Oh, Longfellow isn't home." It was so funny how many would say "Oh, Thank You" and start to leave. Fun it was.
We love our city of Portland, after travelling out west and down south I can honestly say "there's no place like home ", LOL. It's a great little city to raise children in...not so much now as 30yrs ago but still pretty ame compared to most states
This is a really nice video of Portland. I didn't expect Expedia to do this city. I live 2 hours away from Portland and it's really a wonderful place to visit. Expedia... have you thought about doing a video for San Juan? I was just visiting there a couple weeks ago and I really think San Juan and the people of Puerto Rico deserve to be recognized and have an Expedia video so that more tourists go there because they need tourists badly
Live here. This episode does excellent job representing all the area offers. Just visit in Summer😊 Now I can view their other locations with confidence.
@@autumn_b905 Sorry for the late reply, it's a rather nice town ~20k people, it's home to Bowdoin College and not too far from Booth Bay Harbor which I found to be a very nice area of Maine. If you're into craft beer, there is a brewery on the former base in the old shooting range called Flight Deck Brewing.
I live in Maine love it here so homie and beaches cape cod Portland headlights lobster and it's super beautiful, Absolutely recommend Either Moving or Vacationing here!
Wow finally... today i was thinking when expedia gonna upload their first video of the new year and bam a notification, omg you won't believe the smile on my face :) What to say? Nothing to criticize, just pure awesomeness!!! :) hoping to see good videos in 2018. Cover at least one city in India if it's possible!!! Thank you Expedia :)
Visit Portland and the Rockland area for the great restaurants. Visit the coast for the scenery. Stay away from extreme southern Maine as it is a tourist trap. The town of Old Orchard Beach has the best beach. Don’t ask for directions because Mainers will give you wrong directions most of the time. Maine is very safe but don’t pull u turns in driveways. We hate that almost as much as giving directions.
I love the United States, I've been lucky enough to visit 13 different States, both East and west coasts, I especially like the vastness of the country, manhatten, Las Vegas, and death Valley, nothing in the UK like them.
I live about an hour away. Guitarists should visit Buckdancer's Choice and then get some baked potato and chive pizza at Otto. Also, if you drive past the main entrance for Popham Beach you will be able to get in for free and visit the fort which is really cool.
I've lived in Maine my entire life and i've seen casco bay and have looked at the forts, I've been to Portland head light and my grandparent's took there marriage photo there, Beautiful state definitely recommend visiting either during the summer or the fall bc the winters are harsh and pack a big punch.
Maine great state. Just keep in mind housing very expensive in Portland.. .not sure where you are from. If Boston NY or DC guess you wouldn't call it expensive!
I hope you have a great time! I would suggest that you go and eat at a restaurant called Duck Fat and for breakfast go to Big Sky bakery and there are so pretty great parks with gorgeous views of the ocean and walking around downtowns really fun. And this is all coming from a local. (Tip: if you come from somewhere warm I suggest you don’t visit in the winter the 5 degree weather might freak you out but there are BEAUTIFUL Christmas lights/decors/shops/downtown. but in the summer there is 70 degree weather and bright blue ocean a bunch of trees and green grass with hills and rocky beaches so visit in the summer too. But fall is a real hidden gem because the trees are rainbow and there is great pumpkins and other decor. But DO NOT I repeat DO NOT visit in the spring it’s muddy and cold. If you can look at the arts district there are a ton of theatres, art galleries and people playing music on big instruments on the sidewalk. This is all from a local)
@@bigred4335 It is rated amongst the top 5 places to live in USA. There is plenty of outdoor activities to do and places to visit along the coast. Plus, the city is growing every year and there is plenty of work around. Crime rate is real low, and you generally feel very safe here...although every city has its moments. Good luck and any questions feel free to shout back!

Misa...I hope you get to see it soon. Portland is a great little city. Try to get to see Acadia National Park as well. It's the only National Park in New England. It is beautiful and you can drive there from Portland in about 3 hours. You could also drive along the coast, and although it is longer, it has quaint little villages along the coast. Definitely worth it.
@@kcash6359 Hi K :) Portland I want to visit for lighthouses and not only this. It is beautiful place only from what I can see on pics and google maps, when I use that figure which you can put anywhere. Acadia park is also on the list, this I can not leave behind as I love nature. Also I want to see Augusta and Bangor of course as I am S. King fan. And I guess that I saw Salem, right? The only obstacle are money of course, but I know I will travel there definitely :)
@@miamaleficia2877 I hope you enjoy it up here. Don't waste your time in Augusta. After you pass through Bangor you can head to Acadia. Absolutely gorgeous. Miss going there.
Yes the real estate and rents are way too high considering the median income of area. The high end condos though seem to sell well .Probably most not bought by the locals
