As a physician, I can totally relate to Ed Begley’s “aha” moment when he tries to examine Fred’s pupils and gets an exaggerated eyeroll/annoyed sigh and instantly cuts to a question about waiting in restaurants. That moment when you’re sure of the diagnosis😄
@@rftulie I don't think most doctors are still working in their mid 80s 😂. As an aside, I love reading comments like this that make me realize the subtle detail that went into this show.
Just from this comment I wish you were my doctor. I bet you even look your patients in the eyes instead of staring at a computer screen and sending them away after 3 min with a script for Zoloft.
@@rosequartz4102 that I do, Rose, that I do. Although try not to be that hard on the computer-lookers; it’s not entirely their fault. Electronic medical records are poorly designed and mostly function to capture reimbursement, not to help us document. When I do have to look at my screen there is a clock running in my head. If I haven’t paid attention to my patient in a few seconds, I look up at them.
Indeed, this is a *very* serious condition, and Fred is a great and generous, not to mention a brave, comedic philanthropist to bring attention to it. Sadly, some EOG patients OD on humor to the point that they can't stop laughing out loud, and it ruins their relationships and destroys their careers. EOG impacts pregnant and nursing women, tired toddlers, divorced men, artistic geniuses, people trying to remember things, workaholics and clowns. EOG rarely, if ever, affects doctors who diagnose it.
I wish I could catch Portlandia much more often -- so much that I wish I lived in Portland! You selected a good example. I am 78, and so now I am forewarned about what may happen to me....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr harrumph!-
I just traveled in time 6 years to meet you here. What is your problem now?! I think you forgot your underarm deodorant today. Did you recycle every bit of plastic that enters your life?
At least get the symptoms right & my god I couldn't even hear him with that muttering at the end. It took me 7 months to get a diagnosis but this guy gets his in 2 minutes? I mean, who are these people.
"The only reason you leave the house is to see classic old movies, and even then you'll say 'It had some good parts, but all in all it was fairly uneven.'" Fucking dying here.
watched The Menu last night and when it was over my wife asked me what i thought and i said "it was good, but all in all it was fairly uneven" and i wept
I have a bad case of EOG. 0:53 I only leave the house to rent classic movies from the library. Only difference is I actually love those movies. The African Queen ain't uneven.
"The only reason you leave the house is to see classic old movies, and even then you'll say, 'That had some good parts but all in all it was fairly uneven.'" I'm 30 years old and that describes me perfectly. Someone please tell me which essential oils to take for early onset grumpiness.
Hey label yourself as a ''pedant'' (be careful here, look up the word and make SURE you pronounce it correctly) and it will delay the response of others to your illness. Pedantic whining and bitching is considered the exclusive territory of scholars so it's not on the same level as just grumpy intolerability. It will NOT stop the progress of your disease but you will be able to complain out loud without push-back if you use bigger words, and shore up your gripes with quotes and citations.
@ippos_khloros We hate each other by default, there is always someone trying to ruin it for all, but there is also always someone doing it's best to fix it... No need in fighting the truth, be yourself and do it with intention and integrity! You choose 😉
That's a matter of opinion. You may have changed your opinion in the last 3 years. Have you been thinking about your comment? You know that kind of thing can rune self-esteem
