so how would you measure out the distance to get the hair line from the brow line on a ruler? or are you just guessing and eyeballing it?

Rule of thirds is not about the geometric dimensions of the face, it is about composition, generally of landscape, see here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds

It applies to landscape in one sense and the face in another. In portraiture it is the best method of measuring the proportions of a face by eye. Rule of thirds as it applies to composition is totally different.

Hi, it's called a "proportional divider". Just a regular divider will work as well.

True, Proko did it first and he did an amazing job. I'm a big fan of his videos and it influenced me quite a bit. Although to be fair, we both copied Andrew Loomis.
